“We really appreciated Andre’s help looking after our mini schnauzer and home while away for a few days. He’s a great communicator and made our short vacation easy knowing our pooch was in good hands.”

About: Ive had experience around multiple types of dogs. However I love seniors as mine is currently 17 and enjoys lots of naps. But I just love any dog and will be sure to give them the best possible experience Well I care for my own senior dog most days feeding her twice a day, and giving her bathroom breaks every few hours. And can fit others into a schedule as I'm a uni student looking to fill my summer with cuddles and critters (the good kind) I can not guarantee offering services at my house because of my senior dog and pet policy but would love to meet your pet at your home. I would feed and give potty breaks and gain their trust through repetitive measures of letting them get used to me, as after all I'm new in there space and don't want them to get uncomfortable and obviously I know that takes time so I'll let them warm up to me as well before attempting to do anything that may provoke or spook the sweet creatures.
“Jodi was easy to communicate with, the pups enjoyed her, and tons of picture updates! She house sat as well, and it was super comforting to have someone take care of our dogs in our home while we were gone! Will definitely rebook!”

“Annick was a great pet sitter. She was reliable, kind, and took excellent care of my pets. I came home to happy animals and everything just as I left it. I would recommend her to anyone needing a caring and trustworthy sitter.”
“Tesa did an amazing job looking after my fur babies! We got lots of updates, pictures, and videos! Our house was very clean. The pups seemed very relaxed and happy especially after all the walks Tesa took them for. Absolutely zero problems and no stress whatsoever ❤️ we definitely recommend Tesa, she is extremely reliable and very conscientious.”

“Gabriella was available on short notice very prompt in responding to our request. It was our first time leaving our dog with someone and we were traveling overseas, so we were a bit nervous. She has a very calm and gentle nature and we know she took very good care of our Lily. We would definitely hire Gabriella again.”

About: Taking care of animals has always been a big part of my life. I grew up with pets and still share my home with them today, so being around animals feels natural to me. I’m not someone who rushes in and out. I take my time, pay attention, and make sure each pet feels comfortable, safe, and cared for. I’m big on the little moments and always make space for extra affection, play, and quiet cuddle time. Over the years, friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me to watch their pets while they’re away, sometimes for days or even weeks. Those stats are filled with walks, meals, playtime, and most of all plenty of love that is never rushed. When your pet is with me, they’re treated just like my own, with patience, kindness, and genuine care. If you want someone who will care for your pets like family, I’d be happy to help. Pets are a big part of my daily life, and I love caring for them. I’m a first-year Open Studies student at the University of Calgary, and with a light course load, I have a flexible schedule to give your pets the attention they deserve. I also play on the Dino’s women’s soccer team, bringing the same energy, focus, and dedication to caring for pets as I do on the field. My own pets are spoiled with cuddles, playtime, and lots of affection, even on days when I’m not pet sitting. That same love and patience goes into caring for every animal I look after, whether they need walks, visits throughout the day, overnight care, or quiet lap time. I take my time with each pet and make sure they feel calm, comfortable, and truly cared for. I provide all pet care right in your home, so your cats, dogs, or other furry family members can stay in a familiar, stress-free environment with their favorite toys, cozy spots, and daily routines. I follow your instructions carefully, secure doors and windows, respect all household rules, and treat your home with the same care I would my own. With a lifelong love of animals, I make sure every pet feels safe, happy, and loved. Whether it’s walks and playtime for dogs, gentle cuddles and chin scratches for cats, fresh meals and water, potty breaks, litter box care, or just quiet companionship, I give attention that’s tailored to each pet’s needs. Owners appreciate how relaxed and content their pets remain, knowing both their home and furry family members are in caring, trustworthy hands.
About: I love animals, my husband and I have taken care of many of our friends and families dogs and cats (even some chickens!) We cannot have a pet of our own but I am needing to find a way to spend some time with some furry friends so I have began dog walking and sitting! I love any chance I can get to cuddle or walk with a dog! I work part-time and have a lot of flexibility during the day (am available many mornings, afternoons and evenings) I would love some more quality time with some furry friends! In a clients home I would follow all instructions and guidelines set out by the client. The pet will be my top priority and everything I do will be for the best of the animal.
“Allison has been amazing with our puppy Odin . He is a rescue and shy , she was calm and gentle with him . When we went away, she house sit for our dog and rabbit . He went on adventures everyday and had a better vacation than us ! We were updated everyday with many pictures which I appreciated leaving him alone for the first time. She is amazing !”

“Jorja was amazing with the dogs. She leapt in last minute when one of the dogs was injured and I wasn’t comfortable leaving the dogs in a group setting while I was away. I was able to focus on work while I was gone and came home to happy, healthy pets!”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats most of my life, my partner and I have been fostering dogs with Pound Rescue for 2 years. We currently have 1 dog and 3 cats and have between 1-2 foster dogs I’m currently working full time but most of my work is done on Weekends or from home, so during the day during the week I’m usually pretty wide open I have a fenced yard. I take my dog and any foster dogs that are ready to the off leash parks in Okotoks. Also do leash walks with my dog as I feel it’s good for him to have leash manners as well as being able to have a free run at the dog park
About: I have owned dogs since the day I was born, and have trained my own dogs since I was 20 (8 yrs) I’ve always loved animals and extremely enjoy spending time with them! I’ve owned birds, rabbits, chinchilla, snakes, you name it! I treat all animals with love and care I am a mobile eye lash technician and I set my own schedule so I can be free as much as needed for pet care When checking in on your fur babies in your home, I would greet them with lots of love and pets, take them out to use the washroom, make sure they have lots of water, feed them if needed, and of course spend time playing and interacting with your baby so they don’t feel so lonely when it’s time for me to leave as well
About: Hello! My name is Thomas, but I prefer to go by Wolfgang. I’ve had the privilege of caring for many of my own pets over the years, giving me hands‑on experience with dogs at every life stage—from energetic puppies to gentle senior companions. I have owned and raised a Black Lab who is no longer with us named Pepper and a Coton De Tulear named Casey who has just passed. I currently am the owner of a outgoing Cockatiel name Claire so my experience is broad. I am looking to show the same care in your home as I have given them. I’m an active person, and I make it a priority to ensure your pets receive the attention, enrichment, and care they need to thrive both physically and mentally. I look forward to hearing how I can help make yours and your pets days easier. I am lucky enough to have a flexible schedule depending on my clients needs and I am open to arranging my time to best accomdate the pets I care for. I pride myself on my work and the care I am able to provide. I am working on completing a Dog and Cat First Aid course through the Red Cross. My goal is to treat your home as if it were my own, keeping it neat, cared for and comfortable for your pets. I will make sure the home is locked and secured as needed for every visit.
About: I love spending time with pets and getting to know them and their interests and then doing as much as we can to create a great connection and ensure the pet is getting the most out of my time with them! I work full time but I am a contractor so I am able to make my own schedule for the most part. After the summer I am in university at uofc but am still able to get around to different locations I care for pets by being very active with them and treating them like I would any other person. I also ensure I know their food and sleep schedule so that they are not forgotten about no matter how busy my day is.
“She truly goes above and beyond. She did everything to make sure my poor girl was comfortable as she was having some anxiety issues and she took every extra step to help her get through it. By the end they were besties… which also eased my mind. Was also a special sprite to come home to a house that was put together and dogs that were happy and excited. She will be permanent and regular”

“Kaitlyn was great! Got lots of pictures of my pets throughout her stay and came home to a clean and tidy home. Kaitlyn was communicative about my cat’s medical needs as well as my senior dog.”
“Anastasiia is amazing. We booked her last minute for a two week stay after our cat injured himself and needed more care while we were away. We were very anxious about traveling while he was hurt and needed vet checks. From the moment we met, we could tell that she truly loves and understands animals. She took such great care of all of our pets including our injured cat who required daily medication, our other two cats and our small dog. We received frequent communication and pictures. I could tell that our pets were loved, happy and very comfortable. It allowed us to go on our vacation with absolute peace of mind. I can’t say enough good things about Anastasiia.”

“Shelby was amazing! She took great care of our cat Scout and my parent’s elderly cat Lily. Shelby is a great communicator and sent us updates every day. She kept our home tidy and was very respectful. Would highly recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - High River
Andre met Dunn a day before the sit started, saw a bit of his routine, went for an evening walk with us. Came back to start the sit and off we went. He sent us regular updates and pictures/videos. Dunn is an older dog and quite bonded to my wife so he was a bit upset when we left. Andre made sure he was eating, getting his treats and walks and the stay went fine. Andre went above expectations and groomed Dunn, removing some burrs and sticks from the is coat. Andre also washed the bedding from his room prior to leaving. We are very pleased with Andre's attention to detail and will be booking him again.
20/10. Andre is awesome. The perfect amount of responsible and relaxed. I didn’t worry about my dog once while I was gone and he left my house looking perfect. He communicated well - just the right amount and was quick to reply to any message I sent. Friendly, respectful and great with dogs. I will absolutely use him again.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in High River maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred High River walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in High River choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 86% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
