“Hailey is absolutely amazing, caring, & professional. She took incredible care of our dog Luna in our home while we were away and would book her again in a heartbeat for our next trip. She kept us updated with photos and checked in to let us know how everything was at home with Luna while we were away. Thank you so much for your wonderful care & love for our fur baby.”

“Gwen kept the dogs very happy ! This was the first time we had used someone in our own home and were slightly nervous as our one dog has a bit of anxiety ! We were very reassured immediately with lots of pictures and snuggles with our doggies ! She left our place cleaner then when she got there and even went the extra mile and cleaned dog Toys that were buried in the backyard all winter covered in mud. Already booking our next weekend with her !”

“Andrea was fantastic in every way. She came ahead of the date for an orientation session. She arrived exactly on time. The dogs were perfectly taken care of. The house was impeccable upon our return. We will definitely use Andrea again when required.”

“This was the first time we left our dog since getting her. Kim sent updates as well as pictures of our dog to us daily which helped ease my daughter’s mind. She took exceptional care of meeka and I am so glad I chose her to dog sit. I am hoping to have Kim as a permanent dog sitter as we know meeka was loved and spoiled over the weekend we were gone. She also left our house super clean which she didn’t have to do at all! Thanks again Kim!!”

“Mike took absolutely fantastic care of my two cats and kept me informed and updated throughout the whole time he was house sitting. My cats are usually a little skittish around new people but they loved Mike’s calm energy immediately.”

“Malorie was absolutely wonderful. She fit right in with my family and friends which helped Rosie being around the same kind of people for comfort. We would love to use Malorie again anytime in the future.???”

“Kristen had great and professional communication from my first contact with her. She had a thorough intake process and made sure she had all required info for my pets - even things I forgot about! She sent us pictures (much appreciated!) and kept us updated on our fur babies everyday. We came home to happy animals and a clean home. We would 100% recommend Kristen to anyone looking for a reliable and professional pet sitter!”

“Ollie was THRILLED to have Stacey and her sidekick Fred spend time with him again. He walked, practiced tricks, wrestled, indulged in doggy treats, tried new doggy toys, fetched, got lots of snuggles, grooming and rest! Stacey went out of her way to accommodate our last minute request for help and we were so grateful. I don’t think Ollie even missed us! She updated in regularly with pictures and highlights from their adventures together. Stacey has become our “go-to”dog & house sitter.”

About: Hello! I’m Brooke and I am a recent university graduate with a passion for animals. I am currently a month post-op from ACL reconstruction surgery and quickly recovering! As I am getting sturdy on my feet it brings me joy caring for beloved pets even if that only means kitties and smaller furry friends in this initial stage of recovery. I currently spend most of my time with my two dogs and my cat and I would love to extend my care to your pets! I have cared for cats and dogs in my own home for 11 years. I spent one year volunteering at Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society at their cat shelter where I cared for the cats, fed them, and cleaned their kennels. Additionally, I have had dogs in my home my whole life and I have experience walking, feeding, bathing, and caring for them! I currently have flexible hours during every day of the week. I have the odd commitment here and there during the week, but I can otherwise provide full availability! I love all animals and I respect that each one is different and has different needs. I am patient with all cats and dogs and I am happy to cater to their specific needs and respect their comfort levels!

“Graeme was great with our boisterous bully - I think Briggs was sad to see us come home he liked Graeme so much! Great communication and took great care of our big guy. Will definitely book with Graeme again.”

“We have used Dale and Lauren for dog walking and house sitting, they have a natural way with dogs and do a great job getting your fur baby relaxed in their company. They ask lots of great questions to understand your dogs needs and whether they have any special requirements ie medication etc. We’ve booked them again for our next trip at the end of the year. Highly recommend!”

“Jason took care of our 2 pups for a few days and was great! Super friendly, accommodating and provided lots of updates. We would definitely recommend him as a reliable dog sitter.”

“Cassandra went above and beyond while watching our frenchie and English bulldog!! She was responsive, super clean, walked the dogs everyday, and we came home to a perfectly spotless home!!! Couldn’t recommend her enough!!! 10/10!”

“Lili was very sweet with our dog! Lots of cuddles which is exactly what he wanted and we got regular pictures and updates. House was also very neat and tidy when we returned. We would happily have Lili back!”

About: I lived with a friend on a hobby farm. She showed me the ropes. I learned how to take care of all animals big and small. I am willing and able to assist in medicine administration. I have tons of free time that I’d love to dedicate to ensuring your furry friend has their needs through the day and even when you’re on vacation I work from home, starting up my own business but I have free availability pretty much all day. I hardly ever leave the province and can dedicate as much time needed with your fur babies as you need! I won’t have pets in my home as I have a cat myself, but I will ensure I know where all food, treats, toys and everything else they require before you leave. I will ask for an emergency response plan in the event I need to get ahold of you asap. I also have my own reliable transportation and will ask for the vet you use in dire emergencies. I will also supervise play time as I know how quick everything can go sideways. I also am very clean, if there’s a mess from your pet, it’ll be cleaned. And I have no problem cleaning litter boxes as well.
“D was great with our pups. She kept in contact daily even though we had a 9 hour time difference. The dogs absolutely love her. She left our place cleaner than we did when we went away. We will definitely hire her again. We highly recommend her.”

“Mehak was wonderful dogsitter for our 17 year old Heidi! Mehak was great with her, taking her for several walks each day, as well as playing and just chilling with her. She sent us daily updates with photos over the 10 days she took care of Heidi. Mehak was also very respectful of our home, bringing her own food, cleaning up, and leaving the house spotless. Wish she wasn't moving, otherwise we would have zero reservation about using Meehak again!”

“Borys & Purity were great. The dogs loved them and their energy they bring to the sit. They took good care of our dogs, fed them on time and went for a long walk. Chewy & Nova are lap dogs so loved the cuddles. Would definitely recommend to anyone needing their house and dogs taken care of while they are away.”

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Crossfield maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Crossfield walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Crossfield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
