“Hailey is absolutely amazing, caring, & professional. She took incredible care of our dog Luna in our home while we were away and would book her again in a heartbeat for our next trip. She kept us updated with photos and checked in to let us know how everything was at home with Luna while we were away. Thank you so much for your wonderful care & love for our fur baby.”

“Dale and Lauren were wonderful. My mind was at ease knowing my girls were in great care so I could enjoy my time away. I got detailed updates and my girls seemed happy in their care! I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others 🤗”

“Cora is a gem. I felt 300% confidence in leaving my very senior cat in her capable hands. Little did I know that not only would Kabuki be exceptionally well looked-after, but also my plants, my books, my Home. Cora went above and beyond and I cannot say enough good things about her!”
“Another great experience with Andrea! This was our second time for having Andrea take care of our dogs in our home. It was just as smooth and enjoyable as the first. Communication was clear, dogs were well-taken care of and our home was exactly the way we left it when we returned. We know our dogs are in great hands and we don’t have to worry while we are away. We will definitely use Andrea again.”

“Sara was very professional and friendly, met us ahead of our booking to get acquainted with our dog and took great care of him while we were away. We will be booking with her again.”

“We gelt very comfortable having Kristen watch over our cat, Luna. Kristen read Luna’s body language well and adapted to Luna’s nervousness appropriately. Kristen kept us updated and we could tell Luna liked her and felt comfortable. Kristen was very responsible, we were able to enjoy ourselves on our vacation without any worries at all. 10/10, would recommend her to anyone.”

“I was so nervous to leave our dog who is extremely shy and skiddish.Stacey was able to make her feel safe and loved and at ease. I am over the moon to have someone my dog trusts look after her. Everything went smoothly and I would leave xanny with Stacey anytime. Highly recommend her and Fred .”

“This was the first time we left our dog since getting her. Kim sent updates as well as pictures of our dog to us daily which helped ease my daughter’s mind. She took exceptional care of meeka and I am so glad I chose her to dog sit. I am hoping to have Kim as a permanent dog sitter as we know meeka was loved and spoiled over the weekend we were gone. She also left our house super clean which she didn’t have to do at all! Thanks again Kim!!”

About: I lived with a friend on a hobby farm. She showed me the ropes. I learned how to take care of all animals big and small. I am willing and able to assist in medicine administration. I have tons of free time that I’d love to dedicate to ensuring your furry friend has their needs through the day and even when you’re on vacation I work full time in the city and I hardly ever leave the province and can dedicate as much time needed with your fur babies as you need! I’m very good with early mornings and late night visits. I won’t have pets in my home as I have a cat myself, but I will ensure I know where all food, treats, toys and everything else they require before you leave. I will ask for an emergency response plan in the event I need to get ahold of you asap. I also have my own reliable transportation and will ask for the vet you use in dire emergencies. I will also supervise play time as I know how quick everything can go sideways. I also am very clean, if there’s a mess from your pet, it’ll be cleaned. And I have no problem cleaning litter boxes as well.
“What a great experience! I was heading out of town and needed a house sitter for my fur babies. I was a little nervous about having a stranger stay in my home and spent a considerable amount of time going through profiles and reading reviews. I came across Avery and knew at once that she was the perfect choice! She did not disappoint! She is punctual, friendly, follows instructions well, and has a great personality. Both my cat and fog fell in love with her instantly. Great communication as well. I didn't feel any stress about my fur family while I was away as I knew they were in good hands. Highly recommend!!!”

“Mike took absolutely fantastic care of my two cats and kept me informed and updated throughout the whole time he was house sitting. My cats are usually a little skittish around new people but they loved Mike’s calm energy immediately.”

“Our very first time using Rover in a super last minute pinch and we couldn’t be happier with Dionne helping us out! She replied fast on a late evening and was able to accommodate our two pups the very next afternoon. Our Doxie can have really bad separation anxiety and Dionne’s calm presence kept her cool and calm. I could tell when we pick her up that she didn’t feel stressed or anxious with us away!! Such a nice feeling and successful first stay with Dionne! The pictures of the pups relaxing with her helped ease any anxiety knowing they were happy and cared for. We would definitely rebook with Dionne again! 10/10”

“Shelby was amazing with our girl!! She was able to calm my anxious girl who has separation anxiety. My girl loved her the moment she walked into our home. They went on a walk and Shelby just won her over with cuddles and pets. This was my first time leaving my girl with anyone and Shelby surely took great care of her. 🙂”

“Andreea was awesome! Sent regular updates and photos and went above and beyond every step of the way. Came home to a happy kitty and everything in tip top shape. Thank you!”

“She truly goes above and beyond. She did everything to make sure my poor girl was comfortable as she was having some anxiety issues and she took every extra step to help her get through it. By the end they were besties… which also eased my mind. Was also a special sprite to come home to a house that was put together and dogs that were happy and excited. She will be permanent and regular”

“All the animals were well taken care of & stress free. Ashton was very good to them & was attentative to what the animals were up to & where they were. Ashton was also very respectful of our house & went beyond what we expected.”

“Brianna was great. Our dog is pretty nervous meeting new people which cane make him a little barky. She handled him great, and he warmed up to her quickly. She was very quick to respond to messages and sent periodic photo updates of our critters while we were away. We came home to a clean home and happy animals. We wouldn't hesitate to have her come back again.”

“Sara always takes good care of our little girl and stepped up to help with our new Tortoise. She always leaves our home as she found it and leaves our pupper calmer then when we left.”

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Crossfield maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Crossfield walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Crossfield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
