“Sabrina is a joy to work with to watch our lil dude Nico. Her communication is fantastic and she always went the extra mile to ensure he was well-cared for. We had complete ease of mind being away and knowing that he received lots of love, cuddles and care.”

“Sienna took great care of my house for 3 days. I have a large property with lots of plants, a large dog, and two cats. Everything was in tip top shape when we came home and she took so many cute pics of the animals. We will definitely trust her with our house and our fur babies again!”

“When my husband said on Christmas day: “let’s go on a nine day vacation in four days,” my initial reaction was “YAY!” Then my “YAY” quickly turned into an “Oh NO! What about Belle!?!?” That’s when I turned to Rover.com. I found Virginia here, fully background checked, and I sent her a quick message. Her response time was super fast, and she was willing to come over to meet us right away. We met, and as her profile describes, she’s incredibly nice! She took great care of Belle while we were away and was very respectful of our home. She also sent updates and pics on a regular basis. I think Virginia took better care of Belle than I do! I plan on hiring Virginia when we go out of town in the future! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to any dog mommy or daddy!”
About: Not only do I have 10 years of experience of pet sitting, I have experience working with shelter dogs. I’ve been with Placer SPCA as a volunteer for many years. I work with fearful, excitable, shy and even reactive dogs on a weekly basis. I make sure to give them the best care I can provide. I have plenty of free time and my shelter schedule is very flexible! I spend most of my time caring for pets or working with animals. I am someone that you can contact last minute for pet sitting! I will make sure that your pet gets all the love, care and attention your best friend could possibly need. I provide mostly overnight care, in which I make sure your pup is cared for in the same way you do every day. Building trust is very important to me, I’ll make sure to send pictures of your dog (or other animals) along with a report of how they are doing and any other info you may need.
“We only had Jaxen stay for one night as we just had a quick get away, but her communication was fabulous, she was prompt and sent picks even when we were only gone for 24hrs. She was very nice and the dogs seem happy. We would definitely have Jaxen for another stay.”

“Omg thank u soooo much Deanna. My dogs were in such good moods when I came home- soft and happy! Thank you for taking care of everything 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 one of my boys needs extra behavioral attention on walks. Deanna was fantastic. I highly recommend. She’s a gem!!!!”

“Maryjane did a wonderful job taking care of our two pups while on vacation. She sent daily updates with pictures & followed my crazy dog mom requests. We came home to a clean house & two happy dogs. We will definitely be requesting her services in the future!”

“This was our first time using Rover, and finding Bryce truly made a difference. Our three dogs have very distinct personalities, and it was impressive to see each one warm up to him. Typically, our dogs bark at new people, but Bryce’s calm and confident demeanor kept them relaxed and non-reactive. He made them feel safe and cared for, which means a lot to us. We also appreciated the daily pictures and updates, which gave us peace of mind, and he left our home just as we had left it. Without a doubt, we will continue to rely on Bryce for our pet care needs.”

“Nicole is a natural with animals. Bailey warmed up to her right away. She tended to Bailey's every need (there were quite a few!) When I got home , I was greeted by a happy dog and a house just as I Ieft it. I would highly recommend Nicole. She is a keeper!”

“Ben took excellent care of my spicy kitten who wanted nothing to do with him. He is a soft spoken gentleman who eventually got her to trust him enough to play with him, even though there were soft hisses of protest when he tried to pet her, she didn’t run away. So if she was truly upset she would have been gone. I’ll have him back for sure to keep an eye on her and her separation anxiety at bay.”

“Carla was INCREDIBLE! She sent us many photo updates of her and our dog which made our trip out of town just that much sweeter. She also left the house cleaner than she found it! Highly recommend booking with Carla!”

We have both owned pets most of our lives and will love and care for your fur babies while they're in our care. 🐾 🥰❤️ We are both semi-retired nurses, responsible to lovingly care and able to administer various necessary medications to your pet if needed. We also have experience with senior dog care, various breeds and sizes and have owned a few rescue dogs and cats as well. We prefer small and medium breed sizes, but will open our home to big guys depending on the timing and if other dogs are in our care. No aggreasive dogs allowed please. ☺️ When your dogs stay with us you can expect lots of LOVE and PLAYTIME. We have a giant yard and play area and a small stream that our dog loves to romp in and out of! We will take walks, water and potty breaks and supervised play time to keep your fur baby happy and pampered. We are located in a scenic neighborhood on a closed road, with access to walking trails/dog trails to keep your furbaby well occupied and happy!! ❤️🐶🐾🐶❤️ My husband and I are both semi retired. We will be able to love and care for your furbaby the majority of the time they are in our care and give potty breaks as needed. We have 5 acres of play space and a one friendly dog of our own to keep your pet happy and occupied. We also have pet beds, bowls, and toys available, or you may bring your own if your pet prefers. :)

“Great communication prior to their service and during their stay with our dog. The house was left extremely clean. They also took care of our plants. Great service and we had a carefree vacation. Thanks!”
About: I have experience caring for lots of animals like cats and dogs. I had to help raise our kittens after their mom died when they were two weeks old. I have basic experience with animal care, special diets and medication, and showing them love and attention! Also, I am only available until the beginning of August, I am home from school this summer and will be leaving back for this fall semester. I work part time several days a week during the day. Typically 6 hour days when I’m pet sitting. Depending on location, might be able to work something out if your pets can’t be home alone that long. I tend to spend time with the animals where I can be around them, such as being in the living room if they’re inside animals or checking on them often if they’re outdoors. Try to follow whatever schedule the animal needs to the best of my ability (such as feeding times or walks).

“I can’t even count how many times we have used Shayna to watch our high-spirited Jack Russell terrier. She is absolutely fantastic!! Shayna has stayed with our dog overnight many, many times for multiple days in a row. My only recommendation is to book her well in advance!!”

“Matthew was wonderful with Ginger, they were fast friends and was very cool with the night going a bit longer than expected. Thank you again, I'll be definitely using Mathew again.”

We only had Jaxen stay for one night as we just had a quick get away, but her communication was fabulous, she was prompt and sent picks even when we were only gone for 24hrs. She was very nice and the dogs seem happy. We would definitely have Jaxen for another stay.

Jeannette was absolutely fantastic! She sat for our two dogs and watched over our house, bird feeders, chickens, and farm at the same time! She provided lots of updates and wonderful photos every day, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy our vacation! Highly recommend and will absolutely use again!!! PS One of our dogs, Timothy, is a rescue from a sheriff raid situation - he is still wary and skittish around strangers, but after just a few days, Timmy allowed Jennette to cuddle and brush him, telling me she is a true dog whisperer!

We found Danny and Stephanie to be top notch in fulfilling dog/house sitting responsibilities. Our little girl, Phoebe, had several long walks a day, was fed on time and even slept with them. I’m confident she was safe and secure when going on walks. They also are very responsive by texting photos of Phoebe’s activities (from walking to napping). Danny and Stephanie live in my neighborhood. When Phoebe and I go on walks, she always wants to visit them — confirming my suspicion that they are more fun and entertaining than I am!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Auburn on Rover is $54.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,831 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Auburn. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Auburn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Auburn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Auburn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Auburn. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
