“Nu was awesome! She watched our two dogs while we headed to Canada. She was incredibly kind, communicative, and compassionate while taking care of Jack and Pongo. Nu kept us informed with fun photos of activities while asking questions in order to tend to the dogs’ needs. Highly recommend to any dog owner 🙂”

“Savannah was amazing!! She took care of my baby so well and was honestly just a genuine and kind person. You can tell she really loves animals and that’s what matters so much. My first time doing this with my cat and she made me feel so much better about leaving her. I highly recommend her to anyone, and especially if you are anxious about leaving your baby!”

“We couldn’t ask for a better experience with Chad. Our family stayed in Smugglers’ Notch/Stowe area and our resort (if you do timeshare, you understand) doesn’t allow pets. We still wanted our dog close and finding Chad is awesome. He took the time to discuss ahead of boarding all necessary details about Pakun. He even asked for written notes and sent daily pictures and videos. We are kept updated especially with important details about our dog’s behavior. We could tell our Pakun was treated so well. Our English Springer’s hair was not tangled and he was clean when we picked him up. It is hard to believe since our dog has videos of walks, playing in the park and playdates with other dogs,he even did enrichment activities. Our dog is used to group boarding when we go on vacation, he usually comes back smelly and all tangled up. We are so pleased with our experience this time and we are so glad we brought him to have his own vacation with Chad.”

“Christina was an excellent host to Curie, our 8yr old female Labradane ! She was very accommodating and communicated often on how our dog was doing. She spent quality time to get to know her better and make her feel at home. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a 'home away from home' for their four-legged family members!”

“Ruchi provided a safe & loving home for our Cooper. She texted us everyday with updates & sweet pics and treated Cooper as part of her family. We would not hesitate to call her again - she is the best and loves dogs!!”

“Laura was awesome and very communicative. It was really nice to leave Frida knowing she had a lot of space to roam and being treated really well. I think she had a great time!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Danielle caring for Leo our Maltipoo recently. So good in fact that we quickly rebooked her for three nights in August. Leo took to Danielle and AJ instantly and during Leo’s stay Danielle sent us photos and updates. In addition to staying in her lovely home Leo got plenty of exercise with long walks in the neighborhood. Danielle and AJ are calm and pleasant people who genuinely enjoy caring for others' pets.”

“We had a sitter back out last minute with a trip we had booked for a couple of months. We have a young, anxious, high strung dog and we were worried about leaving him somewhere that’s too stimulating, like a kennel. We were traveling from Maine to Vermont so I decided to try Rover and see if somebody could watch him for us in the city we were staying in, so we could be available if there was a problem. Paul responded quickly and accepted Bjorn’s stay within five days of the trip. We kept Bjorn during the day but we dropped him off in the evenings. Paul was quick to respond in all communications about Bjorn, whether it be about drop off/pick up, care, questions about how he was doing. He even problem solved when Bjorn was too nervous to use the bathroom, and asked me for tips when he was struggling to eat. We also got pictures throughout his stay. He made me feel super comfortable leaving my nervous baby with him and didn’t make us feel like Bjorn was too much (which I know he is). We appreciated Paul’s care of Bjorn so much, it really took the stress off during our trip.”

“Catherine was an amazing pet sitter! Joey had a great time with her, and I loved receiving lots of photos and videos while I was away. I honestly think Joey enjoyed his time with her just as much as she enjoyed having him. Catherine was flexible, responded promptly to messages, and made the whole experience stress-free. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter.”

“Sarah and her boyfriend are wonderful care takers! She sent me daily pictures while I was out and her adorable dog Lincoln played with Nala everyday! It made me happy to know she was having such a great time. In the event of an emergency, they are very accommodating and helpful”
“Sarah was very communicative and sent lots of photos. I was also so glad my dog Nova was able to run around and play a bunch with their dog Roxy while I was away. Thanks again!”

“Alexandra and Ham took the best care of Darcy while we were out of town. We got lots of pictures of all their walks and snuggles. It was so nice to go on vacation and not feel like we were abandoning Darcy, but that she was enjoying a weekend with a friend. We’ll definitely be reaching out to Alexandra the next time we need a dog sitter.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
