About: I’ve grown up with dogs but more recently have been watching friends and families dogs (including a young lab puppy). Tell me everything about them so I can make them feel more comfortable! No detail is too small. My weekdays and weekends are very flexible for walks and/or check-ins. Please see my schedule for booking—multiple visits per day is no problem for me. I cannot provide home boarding, but I can be flexible enough to spend as much time as you want with your fur baby at your place!
About: I grew up on a farm, so taking care of animals was a part of my daily routine. I have had pets my whole life, including: cats, dogs, and bunnies! My friends and family have trusted me to take care their pets when they’re away from home. I help my great aunt and uncle with their collie puppies every year too! I am currently a student at Iowa State University entering my senior year! This summer I am looking to help people out and fill up my schedule with your fur babies! I currently live in an apartment, so I won’t be able to house any pets. I will be able to keep your pets company when you’re away or even check on them throughout the day.
“Jacqueline did a fantastic job with our two cats. She sent updates and photos everyday. It was great having peace of mind knowing our cats were well taken care of while we were away. We will be sure to see if she is available again next time we need a pet sitter. Thanks so much, Jacqueline!”

“Melissa has been an absolute joy to work with! She is so communicative and kind! She is always very respectful of our home and our puppy absolutely loves when she comes to let him out! We have her coming twice a week weekly and she’s so flexible and accommodating! It’s nice to know our pup is being taken good care of while we are away at work! I will definitely be recommending Melissa to others!”

“Audrey is great! She is extremely flexible and works with what you and your pup need. One rainy days she comes up with stimulating activities and on nice days they play outside. But every day she gives my puppy so much love and affection that it makes up for my absence. Highly recommend!!”

“So happy with Hallie’s drop-in visits! She does such an amazing job at taking care of my dogs, always keeping me posted and sending photos! My dogs fully enjoy their time with her, too! Highly recommend Hallie for any of your dog’s needs! ❤️❤️❤️”

“Nejra was great at communicating with us and very patient with our cat with social anxiety, and even spent 45 minutes with her the Saturday before our trip and was also patient with my 4-year-old human child who chose that time to be a chaotic preschooler. She took lots of photos during our trip and provided a detailed Rover card after each drop-in. Our extroverted kitty absolutely adored her.”

“Lauren has been an absolute doll to work with! She is so kind and thoughtful! She’s super communicative and respectful of hour home and always sends the best updates & pics of our pup! He looks so happy in every one of them and I know he’s being well taken care of! I would 100% recommend Lauren to anyone who is looking for a pup sitter! She is so flexible and even does last minute drop ins! Will definitely continue to work with her in the future :)”

“Christina is truly caring and patient with our cat Spaghettio. She was so kind and made even such a shy cat warm up to her right away. She replies right away and always has your pets interest in mind. I highly recommend Christina!”

“Caroline was great to work with once again! She always makes sure to do extra to make sure the house is in good order while we’re away and spends lots of time snuggling and playing with the kittens. They were so happy to see her.”

About: My mother runs my hometown's animal shelter; I built it with her from the ground up when I was eight. Ever since then I have continued to help when I visit home. I have worked with all personality types, breeds, and exceptional cases. I've done hands-on work with elderly pets to newborn puppies and kittens. In addition, I have house-sat for owners with many cats to one, a variety of dogs, and many with specific needs throughout the day. I myself have a dog and it's my top priority to give your pet everything it needs to be happy and healthy as if it were my own. I work weekdays from 9-5:30 pm but my calendar will be updated biweekly on weekends I’m available at this time. Feel free to reach out with any questions regarding scheduling! I always ask for a very detailed list of where the food and treats are kept, special medication, things they can and cannot have, etc. I also want to know their favorite toys, what their personality is like, do they like to play fetch, go on walks, or just to have some company indoors. If the animal has any health conditions I ask if I should be aware of anything other than medication when it comes to their health. If you pet is shy around strangers I ask to be shown the best way to approach them in your experience during the first meeting to ensure your pet feels safe.
“This was our first time working with Olivia. While we have four cats she checked on, the main client for her was a disabled foster dog who’s been through a lot and can be difficult (because of her disabilities). She handled putting her harness on like a champ (which is even difficult for us) and gave her plenty of snuggles and had marvelous patience. When you book time with her for your pets she makes sure to use it all which we appreciated. The cats didn't need attention this time around but our foster dog needed it covers much and watching them interact showed me that our dog was also comfortable with Olivia and that’s very important to us.”
“Moriah is caring, communicative, and dependable . She sends updates via text, sends the cutest pictures, and I live her video snippets. Being away for 12 hour shifts can be stressful and worrisome. Knowing Moriah is there to care for my boy helps alleviate that. I trust that he is in safe, capable hands. Thank you, Moriah for being there for Hershel.”

“Katie was fabulous with our doggo! She provided in home visits 3 times in one day and we appreciated the updates and pics throughout the day. 😃 We will definitely be calling on Katie again!”

About: I have experience with owning my own dog and also taking care of relatives/friends dogs when needed. My dog is a high energy GSP with separation anxiety. I understands the need for exercise and attention. It is me and my 6 year old GSP. I understand what it takes having a high energy breed and make sure she gets taken care of on the daily with playing ball, walks, and cuddles. I can easily add one more pup into the mix during our daily routines. I do not have a fenced in yard. I live next to a park where I run my dog almost daily. If we aren't doing that, we are going on walks around the neighborhood.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Waukee
Elyssa was fantastic to have for my 10 year old German Shepherd. She was so communicative every day that she was scheduled to see him. Elyssa always sent multiple pictures and videos of her time with him and was always respectful of our home. She even navigated his recent surgery and the many complex layers that entails, and it was such a relief knowing he was well taken care of. My dog loved her!

Hallie was amazing! She sent detailed reviews with lots of pictures, and helped give my cat eardrops on late notice (which is no fun!). It was very clear that she cared a lot about my cat - he liked her immediately, and she stayed late one day to make sure to check in with me when he wouldn’t eat his medicine. Plus, I came home to everything in great shape!

Niko absolutely loves Yim and Jenna. He honestly knows when we have to go out of town it will be lots of play time and rubs. Having a higher anxious dog there has never been one time myself or my husband has worried. His sister loves all the pic updates and seeing him so happy. Best Rover sitters ever!!

From the moment, Amina walked into my home, AJ immediately bonded with her. I knew that she was the perfect one to watch over my kitty, while I was gone. Good communicator. This was my first experience w Rover, so I didn’t know what to expect between my pet sitter & the Rover system.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
