“Jocelyn took such good care of our fur babies and we got so many pics and updates throughout the weekend. We will definitely entrust her with our fur babies again. Would recommend her to anyone looking!”

“Lori is great with our two cats and two dogs, and they all love her. We’ve had her over for check-ins, and she recently stayed with the pets at our house for a week - we came home to four happy pets. Having someone like Lori to rely on gives us great peace of mind!”

About: I used to walk a Yellow Lab when her owner broke her arm. I have volunteered at the ARL and was in the "walking the pavement" program. I am currently looking for a PT job so I have plenty of time to play with your dogs! I love walking dogs and playing catch with them My cat is very friendly and loves everyone! She makes friends with other animals easily. She was best friends with my Boxer until her passing. I live in a Condo so I don't have a private backyard but am willing to stay in your home
“Jessica was absolutely fantastic while caring for our dog, Bella, during our trip to New York City. From the moment we met her, it was obvious how much she genuinely loves animals, and that care and compassion showed throughout Bella's entire stay. We received updates that gave us peace of mind, and it was clear Bella was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. What really impressed us was the extra level of care Jessica provided around our home. Not only did she leave everything spotless, but I honestly think the house was cleaner than when we left. She even started the laundry for the bedsheets she used before leaving—something we never expected and certainly didn't ask her to do. Those thoughtful touches speak volumes about her character and professionalism. We would not hesitate to book Jessica again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and genuinely caring to look after their pets. Bella was in excellent hands!”

“Alisa does a fabulous job with taking care of our pup and house. She is very responsive, helpful, and friendly. We really enjoyed getting the regular updates and cute pictures!”

“Elliana did a great job with our fur baby! She is great at communicating and send lots of updates with pictures and videos. The house was left in good condition and we came home to a happy pup! Highly recommend!!”

About: Hi, welcome! My name is Grace and I would be honored to care for your beloved pet while you are away! I’ve had plenty of experience with dogs, cats, and bunnies. Most notably, I’ve been a consistent caretaker for two energetic black labs for the past 8 years. I’ve also cared for fish, turtles, hamsters, guinea pigs, and a bearded dragon. If you think I’d be a good fit for your furry (or scaly!) family please reach out! Since I have a full time job, I’m able to provide care anytime in the evenings and on weekends, and if your pet is able to do longer stretches alone in the home I would be a great fit for you! I work 7:30-4 Monday-Friday in Urbandale (if you’re close to that area I am more than willing to spend my lunch breaks with your pet). Once I’m back from work for the day I am ready to play! Coming home to an animal friend is one of the best feelings, and I want to give your pet all the love possible! I feel very comfortable being away from home. I love getting to help families keep their animal loved ones in a place they are familiar with. Whether you have a fenced in yard or no yard at all, I always get play time in every day. I love watching pets’ personalities blossom in their own space.
“Yasmin took amazing care of our sweet girl for 5 days. She was meticulous and adjusted to exactly how we needed Juniper cared for. She sent updates every few hours and made me feel at ease being away.”

About: I have had my own dogs for 3 years, I have 2 of my own as well as 2 with my parents. They are all Labrador retrievers. I currently work at a doggy daycare facility and have experience with administering meds, cleaning wounds, and all types of dog behavior and personality. I also would like to become a vet tech in the future. I currently work full time at a doggy daycare & boarding facility. I currently have a set schedule, so usually my days are the same. I would have time either before or after work depending on what you were looking for! I have 2 friendly dogs to keep your pup company if you would want that. If needed I do have a crate if that would be needed. I can also do check ins in your home so your pup can feel comfortable in their own space.

About: Ever since I’ve been little I have loved caring for pets. I’ve grown up around cats, dogs, horses, chickens, and rabbits, so I’ve had a lot of hands-on experience caring for all kinds of animals. I’ve always genuinely enjoyed it! Throughout high school and college, I also house-sat regularly for friends and neighbors, taking care of their pets while keeping up with the house and making sure everything was taken care of. I am currently living and working in the Urbandale area with a very flexible work schedule. I am able to stop in through the day for meals, walks, or the occasional check in just to make sure everyone is doing well! I like to keep things simple and make sure each pet feels comfortable and cared for in their own routine. For walks, I’ll make sure they get plenty of exercise and time to sniff and explore while keeping them safe and supervised. For house check-ins, I’ll follow their normal feeding, potty, medication, and play routines, give them some attention and company, and make sure they have fresh water and everything they need before I leave. I’m also happy to send updates and photos so you know how they’re doing!
About: At the age 16 I got my first job at a doggie daycare connected to a vet clinic. At the location I was apart of the doggie day care as well as their boarding services. After just over a year at that location, I decided to move on a different doggie day care and stayed there for 6 months doing about the same thing. I am currently a senior studying at Iowa state university. I am majoring in animal ecology. I have a fairly relaxed schedule and try to fit walks/visits in where I can! I have dog sat for plenty of my family friends and listen very well to instructions. I know how important a schedule and structure can be for an animal so I do my best to make sure things are just like they are when the parents are home.

“Carol stayed in my apartment and looked after my heeler Louie over several days. She was a great communicator, which was super helpful as my return flight was considerably delayed. Louie seemed quite content in my absence. The apartment was also just as I had left it! I highly recommend her.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Waukee
My 12 year old dog had a tough year of some difficult but treatable health issues ranging from arthritis to GI to UTI. For our first vacation as a family with our newborn, I was anxious and a bit fearful to leave her with a sitter. However, after meeting Elliana I decided to trust the process and trust her. The five day trip was absolutely wonderful and while there were a couple times I caught myself worrying about doggie, Elliana reassured me every day, multiple times per day. Without outlining every amazing thing she did, our dog and house was left in a better place than when she arrived. She kept her active, healthy, fed, happy and the communication was excellent. Thanks for helping us fully enjoy our time away!

Wonderful sitter!! We needed someone last minute and Emily was able to meet and greet quickly and take over sitting. It was a great experience with her and she has great communication skills leaving us feeling calm and able to enjoy our trip without our furry friends

Lauren was just fabulous with both of our dogs. She stayed with them for 5 nights, took them on daily walks and made sure they had lots of playtime during their day. Lauren sent daily updates and lots of cute pics! We knew our dogs were being well taken care of so we could enjoy our time away. Will definitely book with Lauren again and highly recommend her to care for your fur babies!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Waukee walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Waukee maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Waukee choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 91% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
