“Rachel provided care for our two dogs in our home for 3 days and 2 nights. She went above and beyond to befriend and bond with our shy pups. Rachel was a considerate and responsible houseguest as well. We highly recommend her and will definitely ask for her the next time we need a sitter for our dogs. -Nancy V”

“Jessica was great! We were out of town 4 nights, and then our flight got delayed and she was able to adjust her schedule to stay a 5th night to take care of our dog. She sent photos and updates at least twice a day and I felt better knowing I had someone here at our house to care for our dog (instead of boarding him). Our dog has some anxiety and allergy issues and she took care of all his meds and gave him lots of love and cuddles. She also washed all the bedding, towels and took the trash out (which she didn't need to do but did it anyhow). Highly recommend! Thanks again, Jessica.”

“Isabella did a great job. Good communication, very responsive, took great care of our dog, and the house was extremely clean and tidy when we returned. I would highly recommend her and hope we can book with her again in the future”

About: I used to walk a Yellow Lab when her owner broke her arm. I have volunteered at the ARL and was in the "walking the pavement" program. I am currently looking for a PT job so I have plenty of time to play with your dogs! I love walking dogs and playing catch with them My cat is very friendly and loves everyone! She makes friends with other animals easily. She was best friends with my Boxer until her passing. I live in a Condo so I don't have a private backyard but am willing to stay in your home
“Meghan was amazing with our boy. Followed instructions very well and made our baby so happy! Worked with us on a missed connecting flight, I appreciate her so much! Will be booking again next time we travel!”
“Calle stayed with our pups while we were gone on an overnight trip. I appreciated that our pups could maintain their regular routines and schedules in the comfort of our home while we were away. Calle was sweet, easy to work with and the pups enjoyed her company :)”

“Jocelyn took such good care of our fur babies and we got so many pics and updates throughout the weekend. We will definitely entrust her with our fur babies again. Would recommend her to anyone looking!”

“He was an amazing sitter. Was very attentive to what my dogs needed and took great care of them. Will definitely continue to book future visits with him!”

“Stacey is awesome!! I'll admit that I'm not the most timely communicator, but Stacey is! She She always confirmed with me before our scheduled meet and greets, she was confident with our dog that isn't the best with new people, she kept us up to date regarding how our three pups were doing, and sent some sweet pictures. Our pups were clearly content hanging out with her. We will definitely be asking her to stay again! Thank you, Stacey!”

“Allison is a pro. She was fantastic with communication and was very detail-oriented. We have a 10-page manual about our dogs/house, and she read the whole thing and even asked about a discrepancy she noticed! She showed up when she said she would, on time, and she did a great job getting our persnickety dogs to take their meds. The house was well in order when we got home, which is so nice and not always the case with other sitters. She sent pics and updates consistently too, which was much appreciated!”

“Jenna is awesome and very professional! Great communication, above and beyond in general and my pets loved her. They were relaxed when we got home from our 4 day long trip. 10/10 recommend!!”

“Oh my gosh where do I start? Hallen was the most professional, caring, communication rover I’ve ever had. She left the house spotless, and even helped me troubleshoot internet issues happening at the house while I wasn’t there. She sent so many cute photos which were so nice and really kept me smiling while I was away. I will not be using anyone else except her in the future if I can help it. Hallen, keep being amazing…Rover of the year award should be a thing and you have my vote!”

“Great job by Yasmin. Cyrus the dog got to run in the yard and play tug, and Frank the cat was safely fed in the privacy of his bedroom. Well done and we appreciate Yasmin's pet care.”

“Sarah is a true professional! We booked her to house sit for the last two nights if our two week vacation because the first person couldn’t stay the whole two weeks. Because she has a FT job managing the nutritional needs of animals at the zoo, we knew we could trust her with our dog, cat and parakeets. She sent photos and let us know all was going well at home. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her and would 100% book her again!”
About: I have been dog and cat-sitting for others for a long time. I'm willing to be patient with pets because I have a reactive dog that requires lots of training and patience. The most important thing for caring for a pet is to make them feel loved and comfortable, and that's what I can bring to them! I work full-time, so I am only available on the weekends. I love spending time with animals, so why not fill my extra time taking care of them! I have two dogs that don't get along well with other pets very well, so I will strictly care for clients pets in their home. I am a neat person, and I'm good at following instructions. I'm willing to care for pets in any way necessary. Pets often feel most comfortable when they have a routine with their owners and I am willing to conform to that routine as much as I can.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Clive
Another wonderful experience with Rachel and Leigh. I was provided with ongoing communication, not only with updates about the pets, but with some seriously cute photos and stories about them as well! Being away from my cat and dog is always hard… But knowing that they are in the best hands ever makes it easier. I have recommended Rachel and Leigh to many people and will continue to do so.

Erin did a great job caring for my four pack. Her pictures and videos showed me relaxed dogs comfortably snuggled onto her lap just like they like it. It’s nice to be able to leave them in their home environment and know they’re being cared for and loved on by someone who truly loves and enjoys pets.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Clive walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Clive maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Clive choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
