“Emily makes days like this possible for me. I was on the run from 7:30’- 4:00 and needed drop in help so I didn’t have to run home. It takes a load off my shoulders to know Emily can step in!”

“Grace was fantastic! She kept me informed each of her visits and spent dedicated time with both of my boys. She sent photos each visit and I knew they were in good hands with her. Thank you Grace!!”

“Brad was top notch, we’re so happy we found him! Our dogs were happy and healthy when we got back home from vacation. Brad was punctual and we didn’t have to worry at all with our dogs in his hands. In fact, we immediately booked again with Brad and look forward to having him back. Thank you so much, Brad!”

“Ezequiel did drop in visits for my two dogs while I was away for a few days. He has great communication. He was very punctual. He was willing to accommodate my dog who is quite skittish, using my special leash and gate set ups to ensure she did not escape. My Corgi enjoyed him right away. Ezequiel did a great job feeding my dogs who have sensitives, allergies, and not the easiest feeding routine. He offered to wipe the dogs off when they came inside as it was raining nearly the entire time. Would recommend!”

“Have really appreciated working with Megan. She’s been really great with my puppy and provides me with great details of their time together. I just really appreciate the communication. He’s so young and I worry about him but know he’s been in good hands with Megan!”

“Emily did daily drop-in visits for our two cats while we were on a 10 day vacation. The cats are on a special diet and both have different needs for dietary supplements and one is on medication. We were hesitant burdening a friend with daily visits that included feeding wet food, filling automatic food dispensers, fresh water, litter clean up, as well as play and cuddles, so we reached out to Emily. She seems to genuinely care about the wellbeing of animals, and was conscientious about following the instructions for the cats' needs, very communicative, and I appreciated that she reached out with questions while we were gone instead of making assumptions. Emily was great with the cats and sent multiple pictures of their playtime and cuddles each day. I felt at ease while being on vacation and will hire her services again in the future. I would recommend Emily's services to any fellow pet parents :)”

About: I have well over 24 years caring for dogs. I believe a house isn't a home without a dog. We (me and my family) lost our dog, Teddy, about 11/2 years ago. It has been very hard living without him. I still look for him at the door whenever I come home. We are still heartbroken from his passing. Someday we hope to find the courage to love again. Until then we want to love on all the doggies that come to stay and play with us. When your dog is here he/she is part of our family. Please be willing to come by with your pup for a meet & greet before any reservations are made. Our main concern is that you are completely comfortable leaving your fur-baby with us. Here is a coupon for $20 off. Your Promo Code: TIFFAK87923 Your promo code is only for new Rover members you recruit through your profile link. Rules and restrictions apply—read our Terms of Service to learn more. I work for H&R Block during tax season, January thru April. I am home all day the rest of the year to care for your doggie. I care for your dog as if he/she were my own. We will go on walks to Greenbelt Park, Grays Lake, and all throughout our neighborhood. We can play fetch in our yard. Also, belly rubs are a must :)
About: Hi! I'm a teacher and a lifelong animal lover with a flexible summer schedule, which means I'm home and fully available to give your pets the time, attention, and care they deserve while you are away. I've owned and cared for dogs of all sizes and personalities, from small breeds to large dogs, and I'm comfortable with a wide variety of needs and personalities. Our current fur baby family members include Mya, a 13-year-old lab/hound mix, and Mercury, a 3-year old kitty (who thinks he is a dog). Mya is a lover of all dogs, and Mercury goes with the flow when we have pups visit. I have experience with special needs dogs, including giving medication and extra support. As a teacher, I'm dependable, attentive, patient,and organized. I truly love caring for animals, making them feel safe and loved. During the summer, I'm available to pet care, walks, drop-ins, boarding, and giving lots of love to your fur baby. I have been helping a friend care for dogs through Rover, so I understand how important communication, trust, and reliability is when caring for your pet. One additional bonus - my home is full of animal lovers. I have 3 teens home this summer who absolutely love dogs and cats and enjoy helping give pets extra love, play, walks, and attention. Whether your pet needs exercise, cuddles, special care, or a calm and loving environment, I would be honored to care for them like one of my own. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members! I’m a teacher so I’m home this summer and available. I have 3 busy teens and am volunteering at the Des Moines Playhouse a few hours a week, but am home most of the time. We have a partially fenced in yard in our planning to completely fenced in in the next couple weeks. We live on a quiet street which is a great area to go on walks.
“Ash did a great job with our pets while we were gone. She sent updates and pictures from each drop in. She showed up on time each day and all the animals seemed to love her!”

“Sarah is always amazing with my little buddy, Oliver. I'll pretty much only ever book with her. She kept me from getting too anxious on my big vacay and Oliver was in tip top spirits when I returned!”
“Nadine came to let my two boys out on Thanksgiving day, I appreciated the fact that she was happy to do it and also said she would come a little earlier as she didn't want them to be too long with out being able to go outside. She was very reliable and made good with my one dog Lewie who is not friendly to strangers. Thank you Nadine and I do hope we can use your services again! Lewie & Tito say thank you for the treats and taking them out for their potty break! Take care, Gail”

About: I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I always loved being around pets, and that passion has stayed with me into adulthood. Over the years, I’ve pet sat for friends and family, caring for their furry family members as if they were my own. I truly enjoy spending time with animals, whether that means going for walks, playing, giving lots of affection, or simply keeping them company. I’ve missed pet sitting and am excited to get back to doing something I genuinely love. My goal is to make sure every pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for while their owner is away. If you're looking for someone dependable, compassionate, and who will treat your pets like family, I'd love the opportunity to help. I am currently working full time in a position that works from home. I have flexible hours and would be available most of the day for drop ins. I have two cats of my own that I love with my WHOLE heart. Currently looking to do drop ins as my babies aren’t super comfortable around other pets.

“Kendra is so wonderful! She noticed that my cat was out of food and gave him more for me. And my dog really emits her visits too! We’ll be requesting her services again, I highly recommended her if you need any help with your fur babies!! and... She is always right on time”
“Jessica watched our dogs over a holiday and went above and beyond for them, she stopped an extra time on Thanksgiving since she had some plans that made it hard to get there at the scheduled time. She wrote detailed notes so we knew they were being well taken care of!”

About: We always had dogs growing up. I’ve had my own dog for 4 years. I love being around dogs and want to show yours as much love as I show my own. I work from home 2-3 days a week. I’m also available for overnight boarding depending on the night and weekends. Just ask if I’m available! I have a fenced in backyard. Your dog is welcome on beds and furniture. My house and property is very dog friendly for all types.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lovington
Geni was so accommodating with my last minute travel plans over Labor Day weekend + a life saver. She was very thorough with our meet and greet + did a great job with my babies! She helped care for my senior boy and his very young tortie sister this weekend. Thank you again!

We love having Brad take care of our dogs when we are away in the summer. He does everything he is supposed to and more! He checks in regularly, sends pictures, we added a dog this year and he came over to meet them beforehand and find out what would be new. He even changed our smoke alarm battery because our dog was terrified of it beeping! The dogs love him too.
Monica did a great job taking care of my 3 kitties while I was away for a week. This was only my second time using a pet sitter and I am always nervous to leave my babies. Monica sent updates and pictures every day so I was reassured they were alright. I’ve already requested another booking with her.

We were truly lucky to have Dawn as our cat sitter for nine days while we were traveling outside of the US. From the very beginning, it was clear that she genuinely cared for Boogie and Ollie and treated them as if they were her own. She followed all of our detailed instructions carefully and kept us updated, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. I know it can be challenging to care for pets in someone else's home, especially when there are many little routines and preferences to remember, but Dawn did a fantastic job. Our cats were happy, comfortable, and well cared for when we returned home. We sincerely appreciate her help, professionalism, and the kindness she showed to our cats. We would gladly trust her with Boogie and Ollie again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.

Angela was so sweet with my dog! She came for a meet and greet and I and my dog were immediately comfortable with her. She gave my boy so much love and provided check ins with photos every time. He was so happy and well taken care of while I was away. I’m happy to have found Angela and to know that my pup was in such good hands!

Ashly was so kind & caring towards our elderly kitties while we were away. She stopped in twice a day to visit and give medications - they were definitely spoiled by the special attention! She let me know when one wasn’t acting normally and checked in an extra visit just to make sure all was well. Can’t wait to have her care for them again. 💕

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
