“My dog has Boarded with Thea and her family several times now. Sometimes it is a short visit but this time it was two weeks! Bailey is always well taken care of, relaxed and loves playing with Thea’s dogs. I highly recommend having Thea take care of your dog.”

“Emil took great care of our 2 dogs while we were on a week-long vacation. We did a meet and greet beforehand to make sure all of the dogs got along, which I really appreciated and helped me feel more comfortable. It was our first time leaving the dogs that long and Emil provided daily updates and pictures- the dogs had a great time! Thank you for taking such great care of our pups!”

“Rachel and her family did an amazing job watching Drake while I was out of town! He had a blast, they took the best care of him, she communicated great and sent plenty of pictures while I was away. Highly recommend and I will definitely be booking with her again next time I go out of town!”

“Ariana R. was amazing. Excellent 1st time experience using Rover. Regular open communication with pictures, times, and really went above and beyond expectations with dog walks and play time. MUCH better than kennel and highly recommend. We will use Ariana R. again in future❤️”

About: I am a Michigan transplant and an animal person with years of experience, including as petsitter, aquarist, veterinarian technician, field scientist, and farmer. I’ve worked with all creatures great and small, and am uniquely qualified to take care of your fish tank, farm animals, and exotic pets. I am also an avid organic gardener and I love to grow my own food. I own a quaint cottage home with a fully fenced yard. All animals are allowed on the furniture so that they can indulge in the comfort they deserve. I love taking quirky puppy pics in beautiful places while on hikes and adventures. Playing is a great way to establish trust and blow off steam, and I try to capture that on camera as much as possible. I am an outdoor enthusiasts, and when I lived out West I regularly offered "adventure" packages for dogs who benefitted from extended hikes. My own dog Velma is famous on the lake for being my paddleboard companion! I would love the opportunity to work with elderly or disabled animals, and am competent administering medications. It would be my pleasure to get to know your dog, cat, chicken, shrimp, goat, bird, hamster, and any other critters in your family! Feel free to contact me for references and resume. Animal - and seasonally, garden - services are my fulltime occupation, so the care of your furry family member is my top priority. “Outstanding. Margaret worked with Watson and actually got him to stay and come and command. She took him for numerous walks and even allowed him to use her fur baby’s beam bag chair. You could tell by her daily updates and pictures the love and training she gave him If she’ll have Watson we will absolutely have Margaret take care of our fur baby again! Huge thank you”

“This was our first time using a pet sitter on Rover, and Christina made the experience wonderful! She was quick and easy to book on semi-short notice. Her communication was great, and she kept us updated throughout the week with pictures of our pup. We will definitely plan to use Christina for all our future pet sitting needs!”

“Lynn was very professional and you can tell she is passionate about dogs in general. Her home was warm and inviting which made it easier to leave my older pet with her. I will definitely ask her to watch our dog again.”

“Margaret was absolutely wonderful and I would highly recommend her if you’re looking for someone to watch your dog. She watched my dog and my parents dog who both can be anxious however you could tell they were not anxious at all with Margaret. They got to play in the fenced back yard and got to hang out with Margaret all day. If your looking for a dog sitter don’t hesitate to use Margaret!!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Waterford
My furbaby, Lilly, loves Amber. If she is available. She is always our number 1 choice. She sends photos or videos daily and is easy to get a hold of if needed. Lilly also gets super excited when we get to Amber’s house which is a huge win in our book! Lilly often has anxiety so this is a huge peace of mind for us. I highly recommend Amber to anyone who has a furbaby they want to have a good time while they are gone.

Annette watched my dog Daisy for 3 days and 2 nights in her home, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Daisy has a lot of anxiety, and Annette went out of her way to make her feel safe and comfortable. She gave Daisy plenty of cuddles, took her on walks, and was very patient and caring throughout the stay. Annette also has a very sweet dog named Ethel, and Daisy really enjoyed playing with her, which helped Daisy relax and feel more at home. Annette kept me updated during the stay and sent pictures, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. It’s clear that Annette genuinely cares about the dogs she watches, and I would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!

Yvonne and Bert were great with our 13 year old dog. They made sure she got her meds daily. They stayed in contact with us with pictures and text messages. They have a doggy door that I really didn’t have high hopes for our dog to use, but she did with some coaxing. I would highly recommend Yvonne and Bert. They are definitely dog people and pretty laid back.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MI ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
