“Madeline & Isaiah are so great! They took care of our pups just like their own and were very diligent with their feeding & overall care. Super communicative and trustworthy. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for in home dog sitting or even drop ins! They routinely do both visit types for us and we truly can’t give them enough praises for how well they take care of our fur babies.”

“Sophia dog sat in our house over Memorial Day weekend & was fantastic!! She sent several updates and photos daily. She was super responsive and our doggies seemed to be happy in her care! She left our house in great condition. She even volunteered to let out the dogs again after leaving due to our flight being delayed. Would highly recommend her for any dog sitting or drop-in needs!!”

“Ann was absolutely incredible! Our English Bulldogs can be a bit high-maintenance, but she took exceptional care of them. She stayed in constant communication while we were away, sending daily updates, photos, and videos. Seeing how much fun they were having made it so much easier for us to relax on our trip. She even went above and beyond by helping prepare our home for the winter storm that hit while we were gone. Ann was truly a blessing, and our boys already can't wait to see her again 😊”

“Jocelyn did an amazing job taking care of our cats! She followed instructions from beginning to end and kept us updated with pictures twice a day, so we could have the peace of mind to enjoy our time away. We would love to book her again in the future. Thank you Jocelyn!!”

“Susan took wonderful care of our neurotic, picky doodle!!! He loved her and even continued to take his toy to her after we got home. She also took impeccable care of our home - laundry/dishes were all clean and the house was in perfect condition. We have another trip coming up soon and we’re so thankful that we’ll be able to rest easy with Susan holding down the fort!!”

“Querhea did a great job taking care of our dogs! One of our dogs required a lot of eye medication and she ensured it was done exactly on time. She provided regular updates and left our house spotless.”

“Kaylan did an amazing job with our somewhat difficult dog. She sent so many pictures and really eased our minds while we were traveling abroad! I would recommend her to anyone! Thank you, Kaylan!”
“Yvette did a great job. We have an aggressive dog so our situation isn’t the easiest for most sitters but she kept everyone safe and our home clean. We would highly recommend her.”
“Amy was a wonderful sitter! We were gone for 4 days and she continuously sent us updates and pictures! When we came home the dogs were so happy to see us and the house was just as we left it. We will definitely be using her again for our doggies because they absolutely LOVED her!”

“Avery does work a full time job so keep that in mind if you have a strict feeding schedule for your dogs which was a bit of a miscommunication on our part. She did give us updates as soon as she got home and cared well for our dogs. Overall, Avery did a good job watching them.”

“Amanda was GREAT! She kept up very informed on our dogs and even made them lick bowls to keep them entertained. She left our house in better condition than we left it for her which is always a plus. She will be our new sitter going forward. Highly recommend her, this was a great experience for our first time ever using Rover! Thanks Amanda!”

“Honor took excellent care of my babies! She sent regular updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. I felt completely at ease knowing they were in such good hands. I will definitely be using her again!”

“Cassidy took care of our two dogs, our cat, and our home for six days, and we could not be more happy with her exceptional service. We were at ease knowing she had things under control while communicating with us regularly by sending pictures or brief texts on their status. It was obvious she enjoyed spending time with them and genuinely cares for our pets. We strongly recommend Cassidy and would definitely have her back to care for our fur babies. Thanks for the cute report cards on each pet, Cassidy. They were fun to read.”

“Hannah was great with our girls arrived on time and was informative through her visit. I instantly felt at ease with her in our home as though we had been old friends. I would for sure use her in the near future. Thank you Hannah!!!”
“Booked Amber based off of her 5 star reviews and repeat customers and she did not disappoint! She took great care of our two fur babies and our home. Everything was clean and in order when we returned home and our girls were happy. Will book again!”

“Claudia was absolutely amazing. Our pups loved her and she did an incredible job making Riley comfortable. She made sure to take them on walks multiple times a day. Will definitely be calling up if we need another sitter!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Watauga
J was awesome. We contacted J last minutes because our normal sitter cancelled. J was willing to stay in our home overnight for 9 days/8 nights. J took awesome care of our two schnauzers, sending us daily pictures and updates. J also took care of our home including the pool. We highly recommend J!

This was our first time using an in-house pet sitter who wasn’t family, and it was for 9 days with two elderly cats and 2 large dogs. Cady was very professional and willing to not only come over and meet the pets beforehand, but she obliged with coming over one more time (while we were out of the house) to “test” coming and going without us there (we have a German Shepherd who can be protective, and I wanted to make sure she would be safe). Everything went great, and she was amazing with communication and sending pictures. All 4 of the animals loved her by the pictures I got of them snuggling. I would highly recommend her services to anyone, and we will look to book her again if needed!

Kaylee was wonderful! She communicated very well and paid attention to every detail. I could tell Picasso had a great time and was well cared for because, after Kaylee left, he slept for almost two hours—something that rarely happens because of his separation anxiety. I would definitely trust Kaylee with Picasso again and will absolutely be using her services in the future!

Melissa did a great job of taking care of our dogs! She went above and beyond to take care of them- taking them on walks, spending lots of time with them, etc. She was also great at communication and letting us know via message and pictures how our dogs were doing. Thank you Melissa!

Shannon did a fantastic job watching my cat over the 4th of July! She was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared about making sure my cat was comfortable and well taken care of while I was away. She provided updates, followed instructions, and gave me peace of mind throughout the trip. I came home to a happy healthy cat and everything in great shape. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter and gladly book with her again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Watauga walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Watauga maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Watauga choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
