“It was such a GREAT decision to use Abigail to look after our three dogs and two cats in our home while we were out of the country on vacation. We contacted and booked her very last minute and Abigail was totally fine with it! She went above and beyond and walked all of the dogs, went to the store when they ran out of treats without us even having to ask, was home most of the day with them to give them lots of attention and love. Her communication was 10/10. She sent us photos multiple times a day, brought our mail and boxes in, let us know if food was low etc. All of our dogs and cats loved her. We will definitely be booking Abigail again.”

“Katherine did a fantastic job watching our pets. She sent us updates and photos and it allowed us to have fun knowing everyone was safe and well cared for. She even made friends with our most stand offish kitty! We will definitely hire her again!”

“Where has Laura been all our lives!! She is by far our absolute favorite person to house sit and stay with our Greyhound and German Shepherd. They both fell in love with her right away. She gave 3 updates every day with plenty wonderful pictures. Our dogs were smiling from ear to ear in everyone of them. She left the house in the exact way we left it in. From kitchen to bath and guest room, tip top! I'd give 6 stars 🌟 if I could!! Thank you!!”

About: I am an experienced kennel technician/vet tech assistant! I am comfortable handling and administering medications, know how to handle picky eaters, and I know what to look for with appetite and potty habits for health monitoring. I am especially experienced in caring for senior fur babies with arthritis, it is my goal with them to always make sure they are comfortable and are as active as they want to be. I even have experience in caring for diabetic fur babies. No matter the scenario my goal is to look after any fur kid as if they were my own, making sure they get nothing but the best and are as happy and healthy as they can be! I am a full time zookeeper, and I work 4 days a week! That leaves me three full days of extra time to devote to anyone’s fur babies and make new friends! Unfortunately the complex I live at does not allow me to care for pets that do not belong to me in my unit; however, in a clients home it is my goal to follow all instructions provided to me! I monitor them for as long as I am with them, and aside from usual care duties I enjoy getting to spend time with them to give them stimulation but also to make sure they still feel loved, including play time if they are feeling playful! It is my goal to always remain in communication with the parents, and if I am every unsure of anything I will ask them first. For walking dogs, I do not live far from Lettuce Lake if the parents would like them to go on a long walk, or just simply tell me if there is a route they prefer. I do always want to make sure I ask about their behavior around other dogs and people as I know this can affect where and how they are walked, but at the end of the day safety is my number 1 goal!
“Danielle is absolutely amazing with our puppy, Ares! She takes such good care of him and strictly sticks to his established routine. She is reliable, attentive, and has good communication. Highly recommend!🐾”

About: Mainly taking care of larger dogs, I also take care of medium and smaller dogs, along with the occasional cat. I wash them if needed, feed them with whichever brand is appropriate for them and make sure they feel loved the entire time they are in my care. Even though I am going to school full time, I will make time to show my dogs all the love in the world. All dogs deserve snuggles and kisses. I have two dogs, one small and one medium, that are friendly and can keep your baby company. They can be caged per request. Walking is done every few hours.

Suzanne was absolutely WONDERFUL! She took care of my 2 kitties while I was away for the weekend and gave me such peace of mind knowing my babies were in good hands. Danielle is such a wonderful dog sitter! We recently moved to the area from another state and were nervous about finding the right dog sitter for our rescue, Burty, who has some stranger danger. We scheduled a meet and greet, and Danielle was so patient and intuitive with him and made him feel completely at ease. Finding someone we trust so much with Burty has been such a huge weight off our shoulders. We felt completely comfortable going on vacation knowing he was in the best hands. The fact that Danielle is studying to be a vet and has experience working in veterinary offices made us feel even more confident in her care. We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter, as the perfect fit for Burty. We are so thankful we found her!!! Thanks for everything Danielle, we appreciate you!

Madison is the absolute best. She not only keeps us well updated on all (5) of our fur babies morning and evening, but she really cares for the animals and they seem happy and loved whenever we return. My wife and I are so grateful to have found her because we are very picky about who we trust our babies to ~ and she goes above and beyond. Our house is a handful but we will always trust it in hers. Thanks Madison! Leo, Link, Lola, August and Ava love you!

KC was absolutely incredible. Our animals were a lot of work, as this was the first time we’d left our dog, and both she and her cat brother are on several medications. KC took care of all of them, and was super communicative about how they were doing. She also left the house so, so clean, even though we didn’t ask or expect her to do any tidying or cleaning! Thanks to KC, we had a truly wonderful and relaxing vacation, as we weren’t panicking about our pets for even a moment! Thank you thank you KC. Definitely hire her to care for your babies!!

Victoria was absolutely wonderful! She stayed at my home and took amazing care of my two dogs while I was away. From the moment we met, I felt completely at ease, and she exceeded every expectation. She kept me updated throughout my trip with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. My dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for when I returned. She also treated my home with great respect and left everything spotless. It's obvious that Victoria genuinely loves animals and takes pride in providing exceptional care. I wouldn't hesitate to book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and professional pet sitter. Thank you, Victoria, for taking such wonderful care of my pups!

Rhoda is our go-to sitter for our senior dogs, hands down. She gives them so much individual attention and really understands their different needs. She keeps us updated the whole time we're away, so we never have to worry. Beyond the amazing care she gives our dogs, she takes just as much care with our home. We recommend her highly to anyone looking for a sitter they can fully trust!

Emma did an amazing job taking care of our two German Shepherds, Lily and Stella! From the moment we met her, we felt confident they were in great hands. She was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared about making sure they were comfortable and well cared for while we were away. She kept us updated, gave them plenty of attention, and we came home to two happy dogs. We highly recommend Emma to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and dependable dog sitter. We wouldn't hesitate to have her watch Lily and Stella again!

Lindsey was amazing to work with! She house sat while we were on our trip for the weekend, and provided multiple updates throughout the day. Our dog Arlo has pretty bad separation anxiety- and she did an incredible job with taking care of him and his needs while we were away. I’d highly recommend her!

Ana is absolutely wonderful! She always takes such great care of our baby, Koby. She's the only person we fully trust to stay in our home because we know Koby is safe, loved, and in the best hands. Thank you, Ana, for taking such amazing care of both Koby and our home while we were away. We couldn't be more grateful! ❤️

Meredith is amazing! She took such great care of my pup and kept me updated with pictures throughout the stay. When I got home, everything was exactly as I had left it, clean, organized, and well taken care of. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing Lucas was in such good hands. I would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred University walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in University maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in University choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
