“Second time Nicol has pet sat for me and once again everything went perfectly! My dog loves when she visits and has a fun time playing with her. Highly recommend Nicol if you need a pet sitter!”

“AJ is like a cat whisperer! He is compassionate, professional, and highly communicative with all creatures of our home. We are always comforted in travel knowing we can safely and reliably leave our kitties and their medication needs in AJ’s care.”

“Arianne was great. She was doing drop in visits to medicate my cat while I was out of town. My friend I share a home with is elderly and I didn't want to try to do the medication. Arianne was prompt, followed our instructions so the cat could be confined upon her arrival and took time after to say hello to our dogs, including a grumpy old Chihuahua. I definitely plan on using her for future trips.”

About: Hi, I’m Troy ! I’ve been the trusted, go-to pet sitter for my friends and family for years, specializing in multi-day house sitting for both dogs and cats. Throughout my life, I have rescued multiple dogs—including large breeds—and have extensive experience managing complex health needs ranging from severe skin conditions and allergies to senior dogs dealing with cancer. Because of this, I am completely comfortable following precise medical schedules and specialized diets. Whether your pet needs a high-energy walk, an active play session, or just a patient, loving companion to maintain their comfort and routine while you are away, I treat every animal I watch like my own family! As a recent college graduate I have a lot of free time. I am currently waiting for online grad school to start up. I couldn’t think of a better way to make a living than to help take care of our furry friends. I love cats and dogs and have lived with both for my whole life and taken care of family and friends pets for years. With my schedule being so open I am more than comfortable and available to cat or dog sit for multiple days, for routine walks throughout the week, and even for simple play and interaction whenever needed! Your pet's safety and peace of mind are my absolute top priorities. When caring for your furry family member in your home, I treat your space with total respect and strictly adhere to your established household routines to keep their stress levels low. Because of my extensive background with rescues and high-needs pets, I am incredibly observant, hyper-vigilant about locking doors/gates, and completely comfortable following precise medication or dietary instructions. You can count on me for regular, transparent communication and plenty of photo updates so you can relax knowing your pet is happy, secure, and loved just like they are my own.
“Trish does a fantastic job walking the dogs. The dogs LOVE her and I am sure they look forward to seeing her. She’s reliable and is a great communicator. This is our third time using her while we were away for an extended period (this time 5 weeks). We know our girls are in good hands with Trish.”

“I highly recommend Kailia! She went above and beyond during every visit with our sweet senior girl. Marley absolutely loved seeing her, and it was clear from the very beginning that Kailia genuinely loves animals. She kept us updated with detailed visit summaries and plenty of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Knowing Marley was receiving such loving, attentive care meant the world to us. We are so grateful for Kailia and wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your pets like family, she’s the one!”

About: Hi there! I have been dog sitting/walking and taking care of pups my whole life! I had a pup of my own since I was 7 years old! In addition, I have taken care of many other dogs over the years. I also volunteer at the Humane Society in my free time. I would love to give the love your pup needs to fill the time till you get back to them. :) I work part-time at a restaurant and volunteer! I have time mainly during the week day to take care of your pup! Message me to figure out what works best for you! I do not have any pets in my home. I live in a spacious apartment and have 3 other roommates so your pup will never be short of love and pets!
About: I have been boarding dogs with rover for 3 years now and have had experience with all kinds of dogs. I have had dogs my entire life as big as a St Bernard and as small as a pomeranian so I am familiar with many breeds and temperaments, from puppies to senior dogs. I recently lost my dog to cancer so no dogs currently live here. I work from home as a photographer so I am home most of the day to give attention to your dog. I would never leave the dog alone for more than a few hours. I typically have a few dogs at a time most of whom are regulars at my house that keep to pretty regular routine. I have a fenced in yard and an older dog that will keep your dog company throughout their stay. Your dog would have access to most of the house throughout the day. Can keep up with any training you are working on including crate training if you want but I do not require a crate in my house. Parks and walking paths are nearby for exercise. I will send updates throughout their stay so you know they are being cared for properly. I prefer doing a meet and greet if possible so we can make sure it's a good fit and you feel comfortable leaving your family members with me.
About: I’ve been surrounded by pets my entire life, starting with my own dog, Snoopy, who was a part of my family from the time I was just a one year old until I turned 19. I have also owned a Chinese water dragon Lizard, an African sideneck turtle, and fish. Over the years, I’ve gained experience in feeding, walking, bathing, playing with, and providing care for pets. At 15, I began caring for pets beyond my own, including both cats and dogs. Animals have always been a source of joy and comfort in my life, and I truly love taking care of them, keeping them company, and making sure they feel safe and loved. I am currently a student at the University of South Florida. Monday-Thursday I have 2 classes, and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays I have no classes. Each class lasts from 50 minutes to an hour and a half, so I have plenty of time to care for pets! I live in a safe, pet-friendly neighborhood near campus, where I often see people out walking their dogs. Pets are welcome to relax on my bed and couches, but if you prefer otherwise, I’m happy to accommodate your preferences to ensure your pet feels comfortable and cared for.
“We made arrangements with Lori to care for our 4 cats while we were away for 10 days. Between making arrangements and our departure date, Lori's location changed, and she could've canceled on us. Instead, she adjusted her schedule to accommodate us and ended up spending more time with the cats than originally planned. This was the first time in 4 years that we took a vacation, and our cats really benefitted from the time Lori spent with them. She arrived the same time every morning and made sure they received their dinner at a regular time every afternoon. She shared pictures and info on their activities every day. Lori's won our cats over with her patience and compassion, and we're very grateful.”
About: Hey everyone! I have always loved animals of all varieties since a very little girl. I've had a lifetime of experience around animals & pride myself of giving them as much love & care as I can. I grew up in the UK where my dad owned a farm... I would spend my days taking care of our pets, farming duties etc. I have experience from cats, dogs, sheep, chickens, horses, bunnies, rats and everything in between... they were our family, not food! I even studied animal care for a while & got to work with many exotic animals, caring for Tigers, Cheetahs & other big cats, reptiles, amphibians, snakes and more. I have 3 cute kitties with my husband here in Tampa (A tuxedo "Pudge", Orange Tabby "Louie" & Grey Tabby called "Rex/Noodle". But I adore all animals & pets with all of my heart! Thank you for taking such great care of my cats and home. We really appreciate it and your rover card and photos are such a welcome and rejoiced treat for us while we are on vacation, it brings us such comfort knowing you are watching them. Thank you for going out of your way to get crickets for my leopard gecko and all the slow blinking and photos of our shy girl Poe. Grey and the kittens and Poe in her own way all love you!

Viviana was so great with Cheerio! Very tentative and kept me updated every visit and even stayed with her when Cheerio wasn’t feeling the greatest. She went above and beyond in her care with Cheerio and made her feel so loved. Definitely recommend having her watch your baby and will be using her again in the future!

abigail is the best rover sitter i have used. she provided lots of updates/pictures. she snuggled and provided some of the best care. went above and beyond taking our pups for a walk without being asked. she will forever be our sitter when we need someone to watch our dogs for us. we were out of town and needed an emergency sitter and she tackled the job like a champion. we cannot thank you enough abigail!

Anessa is by far the most amazing sitter I’ve ever had. My cat Nunu warmed up to Anessa instantly by her calm demeanor. Anessa was incredibly patient and respectful of his boundaries. Instead of forcing interaction, she simply stood still and let him come to her on his own terms.She took such great care of him, followed all of my instructions carefully, made sure he was fed, and spent time playing with him. I also really appreciated all of the pictures and updates she sent throughout the visits. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was happy, comfortable, and being well cared for. You can truly tell that Anessa understands animals and genuinely cares about them. She went above and beyond to make sure my shy little guy felt safe and loved. I would absolutely trust her with him again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, responsible, and attentive pet sitter!

Ava is an absolute gem! She handled both of my dogs with so much patience and love, including my hyper dog who can be a handful. She matched her energy while still keeping things calm and safe for my other dog too. Ava communicated very easily throughout the time she cared for my dogs and followed every single care instruction I left to the letter. It's clear she genuinely cares about the pet and their safety. My dogs responded well to her and I'm looking forward to booking her again. Five stars all the way. Book her, you won't regret it!"

Cecilia was awesome! She came and did drop-in visits with our cat Millie, and got her to warm up to her right away! She sent awesome updates and lots of pics during our visit showing our girl getting lots of love and pets! She made our time away feel much better knowing she was in good hands! Will definitely book her again for future vacations :)

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
