When stopping by your home for the first time, I approach all cats with their own needs first. I have owned cats my whole life and making sure they feel comfortable is important to me. I value a cats "waiting" period for getting used to me very seriously, as making a cat uncomfortable or scared is not my goal. Cat's need time, so waiting for them to approach me is the way to go! However, if your cat is always looking for someone to play with, I'm your person! I will pick up a toy right away and help them get those zoomies out!
