Pet care fits naturally into my routine since I already have a flexible schedule and a strong background working with animals. I’m typically available before and after my classes/work shifts, as well as on weekends, which allows me to consistently provide morning, midday, and evening care depending on your pet’s needs. Because I previously worked as a vet tech for, I’m used to structuring my day around animal care responsibilities like feeding schedules, medication times, walks, and monitoring behavior. I’m organized and good at planning ahead, so I can easily adjust my routine to make sure each pet gets reliable, on-time care and attention.

Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize safety, trust, and keeping their routine as consistent as possible. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding schedules, medication, walk routines, and any specific behavioral or medical needs. My experience as a vet tech has helped me stay calm and observant, so I can quickly notice if something seems off with a pet’s behavior or health. I also make sure the home stays secure by double-checking doors, gates, and leashes during walks. I respect the client’s space by keeping things clean, organized, and exactly as I found them. Most importantly, I focus on making pets feel comfortable and stress-free by giving them patience, attention, and a calm presence while their owners are away.

Information Danielle M. would like to know about your pet

Before caring for a pet, it’s important for me to understand their daily routine, feeding schedule, dietary needs, and any medications they take, including exact timing and instructions. I also like to know their behavior patterns, personality traits, and any triggers they may have, such as anxiety, aggression, or fear of loud noises or strangers. It’s also helpful to know how they do on walks or with leash behavior, whether they are allowed on furniture, and what their comfort level is with being alone. For cats, I pay attention to litter box habits, hiding spots, and social preferences. For dogs, I look for information about energy level, exercise needs, and social behavior with other dogs or people. Because I have vet tech experience, I also take special note of any past or current medical conditions, emergency vet contact information, and what is considered “normal” for that specific pet so I can quickly recognize if something seems off. My goal is always to keep pets safe, comfortable, and as close to their normal routine as possible.

A typical day

A typical day with the pets I care for is centered around keeping them comfortable, sticking to their normal routine, and giving them plenty of attention and enrichment. I start the day with feeding, fresh water, potty breaks, and a calm check-in to make sure each pet is doing well and feeling settled. For dogs, I include walks tailored to their energy level, whether that’s a relaxed neighborhood stroll or a more active walk for high-energy pups. I also like to add playtime like fetch, tug, or enrichment games that keep them mentally stimulated. For cats, I focus on interactive play with toys like wand teasers, gentle engagement, and giving them space when they prefer quiet time. Throughout the day, I make sure pets get consistent care, comfort, and companionship, especially if they’re used to having someone around. I also pay close attention to behavior changes or health concerns, using my vet tech experience to notice anything out of the ordinary early. My goal is always to keep pets happy, safe, and stress-free while their owners are away.

Pet care experience

I have hands-on experience working as a veterinary technician, which gave me valuable experience handling animals, recognizing signs of stress or discomfort, and assisting with daily pet care needs. I’m comfortable caring for pets of different ages, including energetic puppies and senior pets who may need extra patience and attention. As someone planning to continue pursuing veterinary medicine, I truly care about making pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I’m reliable, attentive to routines and instructions, and I treat every pet like my own.
