“Jessica was absolutely wonderful with our dog while she looked after him for a few hours during the day. He had unfortunately been attacked the day before, so we were naturally quite anxious about leaving him but Jessica was incredibly attentive, gentle, and mindful of his needs throughout. She kept us regularly updated, which gave us great peace of mind, and it was clear he was in very safe and caring hands. We returned to a calm, happy dog and a house that was left spotless and tidy. We’re so grateful for the care and reassurance she provided at a time when we really needed it, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a kind and trustworthy sitter.”

“Thank you for housesitting for Peggy and Charlie. We came home to calm, happy pets and home and would highly recommend Anya. She bonded with our cat and dog, took note of their routines and kept us updated throughout. She is easy to communicate with and arrived punctually. In summary we are very comfortable trusting her to house sit and have already made a future booking. Thanks again Anya 😊”

“Our dog Pippa had a great time with Kezia when she came to dog sit for us. Kezia is very friendly and easy to work with, and Pippa was very at ease with her which made us feel reassured. Would definitely recommend.”

About: My name is Mariya and I would love to get to know your babies! I have an 8 year old Chihuahua whom is loved and cared for dearly who now is taking regular heart medication. I would take care of your pets just as I do with mine. Alongside Buddy, I also have 3 cats who have been looked after since born. I am on a 4 on and 4 off basis within my current employment. I would have 4 days or even night times to assist with your pets if needed. I have a garden which is safely secured if any pets wish to enter it (except cats). I am not providing this service as of now.
“Thomas and Zoe are fantastic sitters! We have two big, stubborn doggies including a rescue and they were both very happy when we returned, our apartment was well taken care of too. They are great communicators which is very important to us, and we were kept updated with lovely pictures- all of our dog’s routines were kept to perfectly. They were flexible through some changes in plans and we will definitely be using them again. We are grateful we found such trustworthy people!”

“Elisha stayed at our place looking after our English Bulldog for three nights. She was very communicative sending photos and giving us updates. She understood Benito’s personality and engaged with him. We came back to find a happy dog and a house left in good order. Definitely having Elisha again :)”

About: I've been around dogs for as long as I can remember and absolutely love spending time with them. Growing up with a dog has taught me how different each one is, and I really enjoy getting to know their individual personalities. When I was younger, I even started a little dog walking business in my local area because I loved any excuse to spend more time with dogs! I have These days, I regularly look after friends' and family's dogs whenever they need a hand, whether that's for walks, overnight stays, or just keeping them company. I know how important it is to leave your pet with someone you trust, so I'll always make sure they get plenty of attention, affection, exercise, and care. I'll treat your dog like they're one of my own, so you can relax knowing they're in safe hands. I have had experience caring for elderly dogs, dogs who have just undergone serious medical procedures and puppies, so I have a range of experience that allows me to provide the right care for your friend. I have a flexible schedule thanks to my zero-hour hospitality job, meaning I can dedicate lots of time to looking after your pet. I’m an active person who enjoys daily walks and being outdoors, so I’d love the opportunity to include your dog in my routine. I’m happy to adapt to your pet’s needs and make sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, and care while you’re away. I’d love to provide your pet with plenty of care, companionship, and attention, whether that means exciting walks, playtime, comforting company, or regular check-ins. I understand that every pet has their own personality and routine, so I’ll always adapt my care to suit their individual needs and make sure they feel happy and comfortable. I’m happy to offer pet sitting in my own home, but I especially enjoy caring for pets in their own environment where they feel most relaxed and secure. Keeping their familiar routine and surroundings helps them feel at ease while you’re away.
“Samantha was absolutely wonderful. She got to my house before me because I was held up in traffic and was wonderfully understanding. She played with my dog and ensured he had his food and he seemed very happy when I got home. I’d have her back again any time!”

About: I am a reliable and caring pet lover with experience looking after dogs and cats for friends and family. I enjoy walking, feeding, playing with pets and making sure they feel safe, happy and well cared for while their owners are away. I have a flexible schedule and will do my best to accommodate your pet care needs. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits and pet sitting, and I’ll always ensure your pet gets the time, care and attention they deserve. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I will follow your care instructions carefully, keep your home clean and secure, and make sure your pet feels safe, happy and well looked after at all times.
About: What sets me apart is the level of attention and flexibility I can offer thanks to working from home. I’m able to be very responsive and consistent, which means your pet gets reliable care and unhurried visits rather than something squeezed into a busy schedule. I focus on creating a calm and comfortable experience, especially for cats or more sensitive pets who may be shy, anxious, or used to a specific routine. I take time to understand each pet’s personality and adjust my approach, whether that means gentle interaction, playtime, or simply quiet companionship. I’m also attentive to details like feeding routines, litter hygiene, and keeping the environment clean and stress-free. For senior pets or those needing a bit of extra care, I’m patient, observant, and happy to follow specific instructions closely. You can also expect regular updates with photos, so you always know your pet is safe, relaxed, and well looked after. Pet care fits very naturally into my routine because I work from home, which gives me a lot of flexibility throughout the day. I’m able to plan my schedule around visits, so I can easily drop in during mornings and evenings as needed. I provide care exclusively in the pet owner’s home. During each visit, I follow the pet’s usual routine as closely as possible — including feeding, fresh water, litter cleaning or outdoor breaks, and playtime or companionship depending on their needs and personality. I take time to make sure pets feel safe, calm, and cared for, not just “checked on.” I also keep the home tidy, respect the owner’s space, and provide regular updates with photos so you can feel reassured while you’re away. My goal is to make the experience as stress-free as possible for both the pet and the owner.

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Thurrock
This was our first time leaving our nervous rescue with anyone outside of the family. We were a little apprehensive but really didn't need to be. Tanvi and Mike were so lovely with Lily and her quirky ways We were kept updated with photos which really helped us to enjoy our time out. We will definitely be booking again. Thank you so much 💓
We met daisy a few days before she come and stayed at our house to look after our 4 bouncing bombs. She was a plaewuare to meet and hit it off with the dogs straight away. Jax suffers from anxiety so was a big deal for me due to having bad experience before when leaving them. But daisy made sure they Jax was put at ease and looked after. She treated them as her own and looked after our home which is exactly what we wanted we definitely recommend daisy and will live to get daisy to look after our dogs again if they haven’t scared her off with there constant kissing and madness ☺️💙💙💙💙

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Thurrock choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
