“Rita our border terrier enjoyed her stay with Annabelle. Annabelle was reliable and responsive in her contacts, and allowed us a quick preliminary visit to help settle Rita. We had photos of her stay and Rita was looked after as if their own. Thank you so much.”

“Thank you so much Alex for looking after Rufus! Alex kept in regular contact with me throughout the day with pupdates (?). I am a o appreciative of being able to leave our dog with someone who is clearly incredibly caring and left me knowing that Rufus was in very safe hands. Rufus was so happy that he wasn’t that fussed to see me when I picked him up ? 10/10 thanks Alex and see you soon ?”

“Isabella took really good care of my rescue Golden Retriever. He was a bit shy the first day but went in full happy energetic mode the next day. He even stops in front of her door now on our walks so it is clear that he enjoyed his stay very much. Isabella was quick in responding, kept me updated during the day and followed all my instructions to make care Bailey had a great time.”

“Crash loved his stay. He was entertained throughout the day. Crash loves playing fletch with the ball. The dog sitter was quick to response to my request and we did a meet and greet session before booking Crash in. I would use their dog services again. Highly recommend.”

About: My wife and I both grew up with dogs, we've had our own for over 3 years now. We've been sitting dogs via rover for over two years now. We like to take our dogs for a long morning walk, around 5km and a shorter afternoon walk to make sure they're well exercised. My partner and I work mostly remote, there is always one of us at home so we are very flexible with sitting and walking dogs. We have a dog of our own, we always like to have a short introduction first to ensure they get on (we haven't had any rejections yet!). We always walk the dogs at least twice a day: a long walk in the morning and a shorter walk in the afternoon. We have a fenced garden with lawn area for the dogs to sunbath and run around in.
“Paulina took brilliant care of our Golden! She was really flexible and helpful ahead of time, and sent updates and pictures during the stay. He had a great time. We would absolutely use her again!”

“Emily was amazing with Roxie and arranged alternative care for her own dogs for a day so she would feel more comfortable and settled. Thank you for being a life saver! We have a very sleepy doggo now!”

“As always James is great, gives me peace of my mind that my dog will be well looked after. Took her out 3 times during the day and sent photos of her snoozing and playing out and about, shes runs to go in and isn't so keen on leaving!”

“We were very nervous about leaving Chilli with someone for the 1st time, she’s been with us since 8weeks old and never been left alone. Our initial meet with Craig and Jude was very good, Chilli felt at home and relaxed and was very much being herself. On the day when they came to pick her up they were very happy and relaxed, my daughter was very upset and was crying, Jude was very helpful in getting her to calm down, reassuring her she will be looked after and loved. We were given consistent updates and from the videos and photos she seemed very happy. We were never concerned or worried about her knowing she was in safe hands. On our way home, unfortunately we had to be diverted and it added an additional 45mins to our journey, Craig and Jude were very accommodating and were so kind to drop her home for us as it was nearly 10:45pm when we got home. This couple are amazing and we will definitely be using them again, we’ve already pencilled in a couple more dates.”

“First time using rover and had a last minute need for a sitter. We found Melissa, and right from the start she was super helpful and you can tell how much she loves and care for dogs 🥰 She updated me with messages and pictures throughout my Leo’s stay, and how happy he looked. He can be a handful as he’s very energetic but I believe he enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you again Melissa for taking such good care of Leo. It won’t be the last time 😁”

“Amanda has looked after my dog (Ethel 9 months) several times now as day care and is a star. Each time my dog has left the car excitedly wagging her tail on the way to her house and has zoomed in eagerly. She always has a lovely walk and enjoys spending time with Amanda’s chihuahuas playing around. When booking she is quick to respond and takes an active interest in the needs of the dog. During the day, Amanda sends photos and updates which helps make me feel reassured that Ethel is having a great day.”

About: I have a 6 year old golden retriever and previously had 2 cavalier King Charles, as well as numerous family dogs. I have had all my dogs from puppies so have experience with younger dogs also. I am comfortable with most breeds For doggy day car I currently work from home mon-Thurs. My children are in childcare during this time but may be present first thing in the morning and in the early evening before your dog is picked up. If your dog will be boarding with us then my children will be around your dog, they are both great with dogs due to our family dog Harry. I have a fenced garden and a friendly golden retriever. I can offer love and attention throughout the day as well as a short lunch time walk to the fields behind our house.
“Matthew was great, he did a pick up and drop off which was really appreciated and Tilly seemed to warm to him immediately. We got regular updates and felt reassured she was in safe hands.”

“Thanks Joshua for taking care of Sparkey for the day. He loves company and Kingsley, who he already knows, has been keeping him busy. I loved the photo and video updates throughout the day. Highly recommended!”

About: Hi! I’ve grown up with dogs, horses and other animals my whole life and can’t imagine a home without them. I currently have one dog of my own who will come with me for overnight stays and will be at my house if I am looking after your pooch. I work from home most days, which means plenty of company and attention for your dog. I’m lucky to have countryside walks just minutes away, plus a secure garden for safe playtime. I’m experienced with all varieties - from lively puppies to gentle seniors, and I’m comfortable with administering medication and sticking to special diets! I have been pet sitting alongside my day to day job for 10 years now and can provide references. When your dog stays with me, they’ll be treated like part of the family. I can adjust my routine to fit theirs! You’ll get daily photo updates so you can see how much fun they’re having. The only thing I ask is that they are friendly with my pooch. I currently work full time, mainly from home other than 5 hours on a Tuesday. I can amend my routine to fit around dogs needs. I can do day boarding and overnight boarding but my own dog will be here with me. I have a fenced garden, many walks straight from my doorstep. I have a dog of my own here and my neighbours do have dogs on the other side of the fence, so just something to think about if you have a highly reactive doggo! Dogs are allowed on the furniture but if you prefer dogs to be crated whilst I’m out - usually only short burst to pop to the shop, I do have small crates from when mine was a pup. For larger dogs you would need to provide the crate.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
