“Susan has been fantastic with my 14 year old boy. He has definitely made a new friend. I can recommend Susan to any anxious dog owner. I don’t like leaving Dexter but my daughter’s wedding wasn’t something I could miss. Susan put my mind at rest and being able to relax due to not worrying about my boy, meant I had a fantastic time. I got regular updates and felt that Dexter was in very safe hands and he was really relaxed and had a great weekend too. He’s not used to strangers and can be very fussy but Susan’s experience and comfort around dogs really show. I’d happily leave a 10 star rating and will used Susan again with complete confidence. Excellent service and incredible sitter thank you. Debbie”

“we left our dog Tiago with Leanne for a week Her communication with us throughout has been excellent and having never used a sitting service put us at ease. She visited us prior to sitting to meet Tiago. She sent us messages and pictures of Tiago throughout her stay reassuring us that he was happy we certainly will be using Lauren in the future to sit for Tiago thank you so much Diane and Ian x”

About: I’ve had dogs all my life and regularly look after pets for friends and family. I’m comfortable caring for all breeds, from young puppies to older dogs, and I’ll make sure your dog is safe, happy, and well looked after while you’re away. I work from home so am available mornings, lunchtime and evenings from 5pm onwards. I will be available most days in the week as well as weekends I’ll care for your dog as if they were my own, making sure they’re safe, happy, well exercised, and given plenty of attention while you’re away.
“Jasmine was amazing with our reactive rescue dog Zero. Her communication was great and we got lots of updates with pics that put my mind at ease. Definitely would recommend. Thankyou for giving our baby lots of love xx”

“Maisie looked after my two dogs and cat in our home. One of my dogs has a tricky temperament and it is fairly challenging to manage her needs. Maisie was attentive to her needs and took amazing care of all of the animals and we returned to them happy and calm. I would recommend Maisie without hesitation.”

“Colin and Cris are fantastic. We have just returned from a 2 week holiday overseas and they looked after our 5&1/2 year old Sprocker Eddie. I get concerned about leaving him as he’s a nervous boy as was born during Covid. However Colin and Cris have been amazing with him and so I have been confident while being away that he’s been so well looked after and really happy too. They gave him lots of different walks each day, played with him and gave him plenty of cuddles. We were sent lots of photos and videos while we were away too which was so lovely to receive and so reassuring of how happy Eddie was. I totally recommend Colin and Cris to look after your pets. They are a really lovely couple who look after your dog and their needs incredibly well but also look after your house really well too. We will definitely look to book them again. They’re amazing 🤩 Thanks so much Colin & Cris 😊”

“Absolutely lovely people and couldn’t wish for anyone better to look after our crazy boy. Complete trust in leaving Maverick with them for our special day. Definitely would book them again :)”

About: I have a 9 year old black Labrador who is the family pet and have been helping my mum with doggy day care and dog boarding for over 2 years now. We’ve looked after dogs all shapes and sizes over the years ranging from puppies to mastiffs. The dogs tend to use me for my bed and cuddles! I’m currently looking for a full time remote/hybrid job after travelling for 6 months so will have plenty of time for your pups. I’m available for dog sitting and walking every day of the week at the moment. I’m very used to looking after dogs with different needs in our house and can easily accommodate for your dogs needs in the comfort of their own home.
“Couldn't be happier with India's service! We were a bit apprehensive about leaving our senior dog Gabby overnight as she's recently gone blind and is still adjusting to our new house. We knew right away that we didn't have to worry as India was very calm, patient, and understanding. She sent me frequent updates and pictures so I could see how Gab was getting on, and we came home to a very happy and well looked after pooch. Highly recommend and will certainly be booking again in the future!”

“Rebecca was super friendly and communicative from the start, and Bumble seemed perfectly happy when I got back. She'd even left the house neater and cleaner than when I left! Would highly recommend. Thank you, Rebecca!”

“Alfie was terrific. He stepped in at less than 24 hours notice fir a week’s stay looking after our two dogs when a longstanding arrangement fell through. He was responsive from the first communication and throughout our time away sent regular updates and pics of the dogs, who clearly were devoted to him. It was reassuring to have the dogs and house in such cheery hands, and hope to book him again.”

“A really positive experience. Sarah looked after our dog and house well. She followed our instructions regarding food and walks which is important to us. Sarah is friendly and communicated well. I'm happy to rebook.”

“Jayne and Brian did a great job taking care of both of my dogs and sent me updates with information of where they went along with photos. They were respectful of my home too. Thank you for taking care of Loco and Bella”

“Tehya looked after Phoebe as if she was her own dog. I was kept informed with photos and messages and she left my home as clean and tidy as I left it. I will definitely be using her services again as it takes all the stress our of leaving my dog behind when I know she is so well looked after and happy.”

“Jiahui was fantastic! Riley is a difficult dog, but she managed to become his friend very quickly. He had a great time with her. Nisha is wonderful! This was the first we were leaving our young high energy rescue boy Maverick and were really nervous about it but Nisha was amazing, she came and met him before hand and it was immediately clear how much she genuinely loves and cares about cats, she bonded with him immediately and was extremely conscientious, asking lots of questions to make sure she had all the information she needed to properly care for him and to keep to his routines and get to know his personality. While we were away she kept in touch sending lots of updates and photos and videos, it was obvious how happy Maverick was in her care and we are so thankful for her, she really put us at ease and we were able to able enjoy our holiday knowing Maverick was well cared for. We came home to a happy, relaxed boy who had obviously had a fantastic few days, we can tell he misses her already as he's currently napping on her bed! We will definitely be booking her again!

Nisha was perfect, I couldn’t ask for anything more. She house/pet sat for my cat, Belle, for 2 weeks who, as a Ragdoll cat, requires a lot of companionship and attention compared to other cats. Nisha sent daily photos/videos of Belle and it was clear from the outset that they got on very well together. Nisha also went above and beyond by researching into Ragdolls and buying additional toys that she thought a Ragdoll would benefit from. Throughout my holiday I felt very confident that Belle was left in very capable and loving hands; and on my return, the house had been left spotless. I would not hesitate to recommend her and hope that we can use her again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Charnwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
