“Dakota went above and beyond in caring for my baby boy. She was attentive to all of his needs and handled every situation with patience, professionalism, and grace. She struck the perfect balance between being loving and caring while also providing the structure and firmness needed to keep him on track. I especially appreciated that she came to my home for dog-walking services, which made the experience even more convenient. It was clear that she genuinely cared about my dog’s well-being and treated him as if he were her own. I highly recommend Dakota for any of your dog-care needs. She is reliable and compassionate.”

“Rylie was a great communicator and was very attentive to my fur baby! She was very understanding of my dogs shy/nervous tendencies and didn’t let it stand in the way of a good afternoon walk! I was very happy with her!”

“OMG I absolutely LOVED Allison so much!! She was so professional and sweet! She checked in with me about everything my fur baby needed prior to her visits with him to make sure she had all the information necessary. She also provided me with a report card after every walk including lots of pictures of my boy having the time of his life! He looked so happy when she walked him. I will 100% be using her again! We love Allison!! 🥰❤️”

“Bianca was a perfect help and super communicative asking any clarifying questions to make sure my pup got the best care possible! HIGHLY recommend and will absolutely work with again :)”

About: I’ve been dog sitting since I was 17 and have cared for 20+ dogs for family and family friends. I have experience with puppies, senior dogs, administering oral medications, overnight stays, long-term house sitting, and taking dogs to appointments when needed. I also spend a lot of time at home during house sits because I know most dogs are happiest when they have company. I treat every dog like they’re my own and always do my best to keep them happy, comfortable, and sticking to their normal routine while you’re away. Pet care fits easily into my routine! I work mornings and usually get off around 1 PM, so I’m available most afternoons and evenings for walks, drop-in visits, and quality time with your pets. I also offer overnight stays and make it a priority to spend plenty of time at home, so your pets get lots of attention and companionship while you’re away. I know every pet has their own routine, and I do my best to stick to it so they feel comfortable while you’re away. I’ll follow your care instructions closely, whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, medications, playtime, or bedtime routines.
About: Being extremely attached to my own dog and cats, I understand how hard it is to be away from them! You can rest easy, I will care for your animals as if they were my own. Big and small, cat and dog, I love them all! Please note: I only accept dogs in my home for boarding that have been around cats and are known to be cat-friendly. I work a flexible schedule, and come check on your pets morning, evening and possibly also mid-day. Let me know what you need and I will make it work. I can either come to your house to let your pet stay in his/her own environment or if they come to my house to stay, they will join my menagerie for their visit. I have kitties, so they must be cat-friendly. At my house, the day starts with a potty break in my fenced yard, followed by a 20-minute walk either in the morning or at lunch time. There is a second walk of a at least 20-minutes after work around 7 and potty breaks, pets and treats on my work breaks. There are pet beds all over the house, kitties to play with and my dog Sadie (a mix, around 50lbs). My pets range at night but guest pets have to be crated at bedtime. I can put the crate in my bedroom if it will make your pet more comfortable.
“Tab is so wonderful with my pittie mix, Abbie. She can be reactive on walks, but Tab does a great job of keeping her and others safe while they are out for walks in the woods! Abbie is always tired out and happy after a walk with Tab.”

About: Over the years in Carrboro/Chapel Hill, I have taken care of all kinds of dogs and cats (young and old). My schedule is quite open currently and I would love to spend time with animals of all kind! I'm currently teaching part time (T/Th 930-12pm). Otherwise, my schedule is quite open for dog walks, dog/cat visits, and other fun stuff! I will always be very diligent with any pet care issues. My partner works at a vet, therefore, I have quick access to help and am able to ask them questions regarding any animal health issues.

“Justice came for a meet and greet ahead of time which eased a lot of anxiety…He arrived on time each morning, walked my dogs, sent pictures and a report each morning immediately at completion of my dogs walk…They felt comfortable immediately with Justice…His very calm demeanor and love of animals showed thru in all that he did thru the week… I feel very comfortable giving him the highest recommendation and would glad utilize his services again in the future…”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was 10 years old. Taking care of pets is something I truly enjoy and do with love and attention. Family, friends, and neighbors have trusted me to walk, feed, play with, and bathe their dogs for years. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and ages, and I treat every pet like part of the family. Pet care is part of my everyday life. I enjoy caring for animals and easily make time in my routine to walk, feed, and give them attention. I care for pets by following their usual routine as closely as possible. I make sure they’re fed on time, walked regularly, and given lots of love and attention. Whether in my home or the client’s, I keep the environment safe, clean, and comfortable.
About: What sets me apart is that caring for animals has always been a big part of my life. I’ve grown up around animals and truly believe they are family, not just pets. I treat every animal with the same love, patience, and attention that I give my own. I’ve cared for pets with all kinds of personalities and at different stages of life, including my senior dog Jacob (11). Having an older dog has taught me to be patient, notice the little things, and make sure pets are comfortable and cared for as they get older. I’ve also worked with my dog Atlas, who has had some behavioral challenges. Helping him over the years has taught me that every animal is different and that trust, consistency, and patience go a long way. I enjoy taking the time to understand each pet and what helps them feel safe and happy. Since I have a multi-pet household with dogs, cats, and birds, I’m comfortable with different routines and different types of care. I know every pet has their own personality, habits, and needs. The biggest thing that sets me apart is that I truly care about the animals I look after. I don’t just show up to feed them—I want to build a connection with them, make them feel comfortable, and give them the same care and love I would want someone to give my own pets. Pet care is a part of my everyday routine. Every day, I feed my three dogs, two cats, and two parakeets, make sure they always have fresh water, and spend time playing with and caring for them. My dogs get regular walks and outdoor time, and I love taking them on hikes whenever I can. My cats get plenty of attention, playtime, and enrichment, and I make sure their litter boxes stay clean. I also care for my parakeets by cleaning their cage, refreshing their food and water, and giving them time to interact and explore. Because caring for animals is already part of my daily life, adding your pet to my routine feels. I’ll make sure they receive the same love, attention, and care that I give my own pets. I care for every pet like they are my own because I truly believe pets are family. Every animal has their own personality, routine, and needs, and I love taking the time to understand what makes each one feel safe and happy. At home, I care for my three dogs, Jacob (11), Luna (7), and Atlas (8), my two cats, Stinky (5) and Kiwi (6), and my two parakeets, Suki and Dewy. My dogs get lots of attention, exercise, playtime, and outdoor adventures like walks and hikes. Luna has had some behavioral challenges, which has taught me a lot about patience, consistency, and understanding that every animal learns and grows at their own pace. Seeing how much she has improved over the years has shown me how important love and patience are when caring for pets. My cats, Stinky and Kiwi, have completely different personalities, and that’s one of the things I love most about cats. I enjoy playing with them, keeping them entertained, cleaning litter boxes, and making sure they have a comfortable and happy environment. I also have experience caring for my parakeets, Suki and Dewy. I’m comfortable with feeding them, cleaning their cage, changing their water, and making sure they get attention and enrichment. While I haven’t owned larger birds, I’m always willing to learn and make sure I understand each pet’s needs. When caring for your pets in your home, I’ll respect their routine and follow your instructions closely. My goal is to make your pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away, and to give them the same care and attention I give my own pets because I know how much they mean to your family.
“Ryana is great and my dog loves seeing her! Addie was sick while I was at work and Ryana went above and beyond to check on Addie and ensure she was feeling better. Addie is always excited to see her and I will definitely continue to book with her.”

“I would recommend Elena, for sure. She was trustworthy, caring, thoughtful, and dependable. When she couldn’t make it? She communicated it. She brought the mail in and returned my trash bins. Without me asking. Thank you for taking care of Mocha while we were gone!!”

About: I have over 10 years of experience caring for cats and dogs with a variety of needs, especially elderly and those on medications. I used to manage a horse farm, and have been a lifelong equestrian. I have a service pup of my own, as well as a lovely ragdoll cat, and previously owned a rescue pittie! I am emergency first aid certified for small animals and was an ICU vet tech. Comfortable with all breeds. I am able to fit in morning and evening care during the week and am flexible on the weekends. Wednesday afternoons are also open at this time! I am responsible and respectful of your space. I live an apartment so can not host at the moment. I will always send pictures and leave things as is!

Dylan was so kind and patient with my Petra! She can be shy at first but Dylan brought her right out of her shell! I’m recovering from an ankle surgery so I can’t take her on the walks she used to love but after she came back from her walk with Dylan Pet Pet was more relaxed than she had been in over a week! She was finally able to get all that stored energy out! Dylan brought a portable water bottle and bowl to keep her hydrated during this intense heat too! I highly recommend him as a trustworthy and caring dog walker!

We love Alice! Her communication is truly top notch and lets me know all things about my sweet doggy Lola, we love her and have asked her to continue helping me out with walks while i’m recovering from surgery and other dog walkers are on vacation. Alice is a trustworthy gem!

Emily has been wonderful to my dog, Opie. Opie looks for her when the time for her to come. So Opie and I welcomed her assistant while I was not able to take Opie out for his walk. Emily and I are communicating very well when it is needed. I felt confident while she is with Opie. I feel grateful to her.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
