“Becca was wonderful! She was able to watch Tazer on short notice over a holiday weekend. She sent updates and photos letting me know how he was doing. I have never had someone new watch him before and she said he adjusted well. It was such a relief knowing I could get away and he was in great hands. I will definitely be using her to sit again.”

About: I have had a dog since I was a kid and love the companionship they bring to our family. Very experienced in grooming and feeding and all types of care that dogs can require. Have also had senior pets that needed lots of special care that I am always happy to provide. I work from home, so here all day with my Goldendoodle. Also have a flexible work schedule for walks during the day and in the evenings. Weekends we like to take longer walks to explore the neighborhood around us. I have a fenced in yard, a Goldendoodle that loves to play with other dogs, and three 20ish year old sons who love to care for pets.
About: My family has raised dogs since I was young. With the last two dogs (and especially our newest), I've been responsible for at-home training (house-training, walking, commands) and taking care of their needs. In general, I have 3.5 hour night classes Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and a 2 hour class Friday morning. Otherwise, my schedule is pretty open. I would love to chat about any further needs of your dog. Dogs can be pretty different from each other, so how I interact with your dog will depend on their needs and yours. As a general rule, I'm pretty affectionate with dogs but can be more distant if you or your dog prefer that.
“Lauren did a great job. The dogs were happy and she sent regular pictures to let us know how they were doing. She is easy to communicate with and we will definitely use her again!”

“Alex worked with our one dog who was nervous around him at first. He spent a lot of time at our house with our two dogs while we were on vacation. When we came back our dogs were tired and happy.”

“Nathalia was wonderful with my pets (puppy and cat). She stayed overnight with them and sent updates throughout her day. I will definitely be calling her again. It was nice knowing our babies were in their own home and happy. Thanks Nathalia!”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have always had a passion for animals. As a student and full-time house manager, I can’t have a pet of my own right now, so I love spending time with your fur babies instead. In my work as a house manager, pets are part of the family. I’ve helped reinforce training techniques alongside professional trainers, focusing on building trust and confidence at each pet’s pace with plenty of patience, playtime, and treats. I’ve also learned valuable pet care and wellness tips from a close friend who is a vet tech. You can count on me to provide dependable care, regular updates, and lots of love while you’re away. I’m currently balancing work and school as I pursue my BSW and accelerated MSW, with the goal of becoming a child and adolescent therapist and advocate. My schedule varies throughout the week, but I have dedicated availability to provide dependable pet care. As an experienced house manager, I understand the importance of routines, communication, and creating a stress-free experience for both pets and their owners. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or simply keeping your pet company, I’ll make sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. Building trust with both you and your pet is my top priority. I believe every animal deserves patience, kindness, and the chance to get comfortable at their own pace. At home, I greet our cat Kiki like family and I’m convinced one day he’ll talk back! I bring that same energy to every pet I care for, including Bear, a playful pit bull I see regularly. I’ll follow your pet’s routine, provide lots of love and attention, and keep you updated while you’re away.
“Maya did an outstanding job for us. She accepted a last minute request, which included a 6-day stay at our home while we were out of town on vacation. She connected very well with our 72 pound medium Bernedoodle, giving him lots of attention and care. Everything went smoothly and she remained focused and supportive to the end, even when our return flight was delayed by 3 hours. Thanks again Maya.”

About: I have lived with and played with dogs for as long as I can remember. I grew up with a German Shepard, and later on, two cats. I started caring for dogs as an adult in 2023. I have experience pet sitting, dog walking, and playing with dogs and cats. I have a love for animals all shapes and sizes, and will make your pets' needs a top priority. I'm currently home from school. I work a part time job as a server on weekday nights. I also have a remote class Tuesday afternoons. I'm available any time outside of that range to care for your pets! I'm flexible when it comes to scheduling, and willing to accommodate to whatever is best for you. When caring for other people's pets, I make sure to send frequent check-ins, photos, and questions to the owner. If needed, I have my own car in case of any vet trips/emergencies.
“Isabelle was absolutely fantastic! She was so kind and gentle with our dog (Fin), and even performed some tasks above and beyond our ask. We can’t recommend Isabelle enough!”

“Great experience with Allegra. She took excellent care of my pups and kept the house spotless. The dogs were in such a good mood when I returned, which tells me everything I need to know. Will definitely book again!”

“Aimee did a great job taking good care of our puppy! She is very kind and passionate. She played very well with our puppy, brought him to potty, prepared food and water for him. Our puppy had a lot of fun.”

“My 15 month old husky/German shepherd mix got along well with Aury. Aury took her for a couple of walks and kept her company while I was gone...my dog has severe separation anxiety but Aury handled her well. Would use her service again.”

“Makayla was SO great! She recently completed a house sitting visit. She was very communicative, sent lots of pictures (which we loved), and took great care of not only our dog Kygo, but our home as well. You’d never even know she stayed here for a few days - that’s how well she cleaned up. Our dog can sometimes be unsure of new people coming into the house but Makayla was patient with him and they are now good buddies :) We plan to book more drop-ins, walks, and overnights with her. I recommend you book her ASAP, you will not regret it. Having peace of mind about our dog is too priority when we travel and Makayla exceeded all expectations. 5/5”

“Highly recommend Kortney! Leaving my pup for a week is never easy, but she made the entire experience stress-free! She treated my dog like her own and provided regular updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. When I got home, I could tell she had been happy, loved, and exceptionally well cared for. I’m so grateful for the wonderful care Kortney provided and will absolutely book with her again. ❤️🐾”

“Karina stayed at our house for two weeks, watching our dogs and cats while we were away on vacation. During our entire time away she was very communicative and shared plenty of photos! She made sure we knew our animals were well taken care of the entire time sharing details of walks and feedings. When we came back all the animals were happy and the house was spotless and in an even better condition than when we had left it. If you are looking for somebody to take care of your animals, Karina is an excellent choice.”

“Gabi was great with our dog. He is anxious and does not being left alone and Gabi made sure that he was comfortable and he had a great time with her when we were gone. We got daily updates and pictures of Clarence making us feeling better that he was in good hands. Will definitely use her again!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sylvan Lake
Amanda is the most responsible and caring dog sitter I’ve ever met. Our family had a trip planned, and initially we left our dog at PetSmart. Unfortunately, due to anxiety, our dog injured her paw there. PetSmart was concerned that her stress might lead to further self-harm, so they asked us to pick her up. Since we couldn’t cancel our trip last minute, we reached out to Amanda for help. She went above and beyond in every way. Amanda came to our home multiple times a day to keep our dog company. Because of the paw injury, extra care was needed, and Amanda handled it all perfectly—she cleaned and applied medication to the wound every day, took our dog on gentle, easy walks, and even gave her a thoughtful bath on the last night. When we returned, we were touched to find a carefully prepared gift along with new toys and supplies for our dog. Amanda truly treats every dog like a member of her own family. I can’t recommend her highly enough—she is absolutely wonderful, and we are so grateful to have found her.

This was our first time using Rover and we could not have been more lucky to find Hailey! Hailey is very responsive, provided clear communication, and many awesome updates, including pictures and videos, while we were out of town. Our dog is 13 with many health issues so we are very hesitant to leave him with anyone other than family, but as soon as we met Hailey there was an immediate sense of comfort and relief knowing he was going to be in great hands in the comfort of his own home. We cannot say enough positive things about our experience and we will definitely be using Hailey's services in the future!

Brandon was absolutely incredible. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he has a natural connection with dogs—Luna and Rosie were completely at ease with him in a way we rarely see with others. It honestly felt like having a true dog whisperer in our home. He was punctual, professional, and carried himself with a calm confidence that made the entire experience effortless. Knowing how our dogs typically react to new people, this level of comfort and trust meant everything to us. We would absolutely book Brandon again without hesitation, and we highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone reliable, intuitive, and genuinely gifted with animals.

This is my third time having Krystal take care of my senior kitty who has some medical issues and needs extra loving care. As always, Krystal gave my kitty exceptional care, going above and beyond! My kitty loves Krystal! And she cleaned my house, it was cleaner than I left it! Krystal, I can’t say thank you enough, especially stepping in last minute!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Sylvan Lake
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Sylvan Lake on Rover is $32.7 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 5,563 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sylvan Lake. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sylvan Lake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sylvan Lake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sylvan Lake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sylvan Lake. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
