“Danette is superb. This was our first time using Rover and it was a great experience. Danette was incredibly communicative and put us at ease during our trip. 11/10 recommend! Thank you so much!”

“Becca is a very responsible, trusting, kind caregiver. She took care of our two dogs for 8 days in our home and we returned to very well cared for happy dogs and a very well cared for home. We have always boarded our dogs and this was our first time using a in-home service. We couldn’t have had a better experience. I’ve already asked Becca if she is available for two more of our upcoming trips this year. 5 stars”

“Great experience with Allegra. She took excellent care of my pups and kept the house spotless. The dogs were in such a good mood when I returned, which tells me everything I need to know. Will definitely book again!”

“Nathalia is amazing! She communicates throughout her stay, sends pictures of the pups, and leaves the house spotless. You can tell she really cares for the dogs. We’ll be continuing use her as much as we can!”

“Alex worked with our one dog who was nervous around him at first. He spent a lot of time at our house with our two dogs while we were on vacation. When we came back our dogs were tired and happy.”

“Mark is fantastic. He stayed at my house with our 2 dogs for a long weekend. The dogs were so happy and well cared for, my house was clean and in perfect condition. He even shoveled when it snowed! We will 100% have Mark over again.”

“Jordyn is exceptional. She shows great skill and care for Duke. And he has quickly become quite attached to her. Jordyn stayed in my home for two weeks while I was on vacation. She took care of everything and gave me such great peace of mind while I was away.”

“Gabrielle was amazing and watched our dog for almost a week while we got married out of the country. Great updates, helpful questions and an amazing house guest. We will definitely the book with Gabrielle.”

About: I’m a huge animal lover and I treat every pet I watch like my own. I know how stressful it can be to leave your pet with someone new, so my main priority is making sure they feel comfortable and safe with me. I work regularly during the week, so I’m fully available for morning, evening, and weekend care. Before I head out and as soon as I’m back, your pet gets my full attention—long walks, feeding, and plenty of playtime. On weekends, my schedule is wide open I treat your house with the utmost respect. I follow your exact instructions for feeding, routines, and house rules. I make sure doors and gates are properly locked before I step out, and I'll keep you updated with photos so you know your pet is relaxed and your home is in safe hands.
“Grace was excellent! She provided updates when needed and was very helpful and attentive to our requests and instructions. We came home to a happy, healthy puppy and a clean house. All we could ask for in a sitter! We will definitely be booking Grace again! Thanks, Grace!”

“Jennifer was so great with Remy. Treating my fur baby as her own, over communicating and sending the occasional picture! I will continue to book with Jennifer over and over”

About: I am experienced in administering medicinal injections, nail trimming and teeth brushing of larger breeds, lifting 60+ lbs, pad and potty training, and assisting senior and special needs dogs. I currently work remote and spend most of the day with my own pup by my side. We go to the nearby dog park at least weekly, go on two 20-25 minute walks (1mi+) daily, and play regularly throughout the day. He is very friendly and happy to tag along for any walks or play times, if the company is welcomed. I have a large crate available, if needed, and an in ground stake in the front and back yard with 30ft leads attached, allowing for plenty of time outside in shaded and unshaded areas. Food bowls are cleaned after every meal and pet waste is cleaned up after every trip outside.

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have always had a passion for animals. As a student and full-time house manager, I can’t have a pet of my own right now, so I love spending time with your fur babies instead. In my work as a house manager, pets are part of the family. I’ve helped reinforce training techniques alongside professional trainers, focusing on building trust and confidence at each pet’s pace with plenty of patience, playtime, and treats. I’ve also learned valuable pet care and wellness tips from a close friend who is a vet tech. You can count on me to provide dependable care, regular updates, and lots of love while you’re away. I’m currently balancing work and school as I pursue my BSW and accelerated MSW, with the goal of becoming a child and adolescent therapist and advocate. My schedule varies throughout the week, but I have dedicated availability to provide dependable pet care. As an experienced house manager, I understand the importance of routines, communication, and creating a stress-free experience for both pets and their owners. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or simply keeping your pet company, I’ll make sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. Building trust with both you and your pet is my top priority. I believe every animal deserves patience, kindness, and the chance to get comfortable at their own pace. At home, I greet our cat Kiki like family and I’m convinced one day he’ll talk back! I bring that same energy to every pet I care for, including Bear, a playful pit bull I see regularly. I’ll follow your pet’s routine, provide lots of love and attention, and keep you updated while you’re away.

About: **PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING PET/HOUSE SITTING** I want to clarify that I do not typically provide traditional overnight house sitting. Instead, I specialize in drop-in care and can provide multiple visits throughout the day to keep your pets happy, comfortable, and well cared for while you're away. For example, I may visit in the morning, again during the day, and then for a longer evening visit. This works especially well for pets who don't need someone staying overnight but still benefit from consistent attention, exercise, companionship, and care throughout the day. If you're looking for overnight house sitting, I may be open to discussing shorter stays (3 days or less) after a meet & greet, depending on the situation. If you're unsure which option is best for your pets, feel free to reach out! I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember and genuinely enjoy caring for all kinds of animals. My experience includes dogs and cats, as well as small pets such as rabbits and other small mammals, reptiles, and horses. I also have hands-on equine experience, including equine bodywork, which has strengthened my ability to stay calm, observant, and responsive with animals of all sizes and temperaments. I follow routines closely—feeding schedules, medications, walks, litter care, habitat care, and all the little details that matter—and I adapt my approach to each animal's personality and needs. Whether your pet is social and energetic, shy and routine-driven, or simply prefers to do their own thing, I meet them where they are. You can expect clear communication and consistent updates while you're away, so you always know your pets are safe and well cared for. I am currently looking to fill in some gaps in my schedule and should be able to accommodate most pet owners and their pet care needs. I follow care instructions closely and treat both your pet and your home with respect and care. Safety, routine, and clear communication are always my priority. If anything comes up or you have questions, I’m easy to reach and will keep you updated while you’re away.
“Once again, Aury distinguished herself with Logan! He adores her and is so excited when she arrives! She always provides wonderful care and is always open to whatever he is up for while she is with him! She is awesome!👏”

“Judith and Cynthia did a great job looking after our two 'giant' dogs (St. Bernard & Mastiff) for a long weekend. They were prompt, sent out updates and pcitures every day, and generally made us feel comfortable that our pups were being well taken care of. This was our first foray into getting a Rover sitter, and while we were nervous, they made it less stressful.”

“He did an amazing job! Left the home in great condition and took really good care of our pets while we were out of the country for 12 days. Good communication. Will book again.”

“We had an awesome experience with Kinery! From the moment she arrived, she was warm, friendly, and so respectful of our home. She sent us regular updates (which we loved), was perfectly on time for everything, and made the whole process feel easy and stress-free. Our dogs were relaxed, happy, and acting like they’d just had their own little staycation when we got home. It’s such a relief to find someone we trust, and we’d absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!”

Becca was great! She took very good care of our dog and cat while we were away on vacation. She sent us photos and kept us updated about our fur babies! She even kept the house clean! I highly recommend Becca, and we will definitely have her take care of our dog and cat again!

We had Allegra coming for a house sitting! She was absolutely wonderful! She took fantastic care of our little diva, Francie, and was incredibly responsible and self-sufficient throughout her stay. She left our home immaculate! Honestly, it was like she was never even there! We would definitely hire her again for future house sitting.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 4,435 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across North Barrington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Barrington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Barrington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Barrington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
