“You know you have a good sitter when you aren’t stressed about your pups while you are away from home. Ashley was great, checked in prior to stay to confirm details, sent updates with pics and kept us informed while we were away for the weekend. Having 2 senior dogs is no joke and Ashley handled them fantastically.”

“I help rescue and foster special needs dogs, those physically or mentally abused. While helping Sadie as a temporary foster, no one in the rescue group was willing to take care of her. So, I decided to add her to my family. I say this because I need someone that understand how to care for Sadie emotional needs. From the very first time Sadie and I met Jordyn, we knew she would be the perfect sitter when I travel for work. Jordyn gave so much love to Sadie while I was gone that I was able to focus on work and not worry about Sadie. Jordyn was amazing sending me updates and photos!! When I travel for work in the future Jordyn will be the only person I call to take care of Sadie.”

“Jennifer was so great with Remy. Treating my fur baby as her own, over communicating and sending the occasional picture! I will continue to book with Jennifer over and over”

“Great experience with Allegra. She took excellent care of my pups and kept the house spotless. The dogs were in such a good mood when I returned, which tells me everything I need to know. Will definitely book again!”

“Karina stayed at our house for two weeks, watching our dogs and cats while we were away on vacation. During our entire time away she was very communicative and shared plenty of photos! She made sure we knew our animals were well taken care of the entire time sharing details of walks and feedings. When we came back all the animals were happy and the house was spotless and in an even better condition than when we had left it. If you are looking for somebody to take care of your animals, Karina is an excellent choice.”

“We had Kaylee watch our two dogs while we were on vacation for a week. The communication, pictures, and constant updates put our minds at ease. You could tell that our dogs were loved and cared for. Whether you are out for multiple days, or just a drop in visit, Kaylee is your girl!”

“Mark is fantastic. He stayed at my house with our 2 dogs for a long weekend. The dogs were so happy and well cared for, my house was clean and in perfect condition. He even shoveled when it snowed! We will 100% have Mark over again.”

“Ida is the absolute best. She took great care of our two dogs (one w/special needs) while we were gone for a week. Took great care of the house too. Couldn't ask for someone better.”

“Gabrielle was so helpful with my doggos! We had a pet emergency right before we left to go on an international trip and she was able to help give medicine and comfort. You can’t go wrong with Gabrielle!”

“Such a wonderful experience with Victoria. We have a born blind dog and a senior pup and she was so understanding. We feel very comfortable with Victoria house/pup sitting for multiple days in a row. Very thankful we have Victoria in our pups lives!”

“Philip took care of my dogs like they were his own. He was patient, attentive, and incredibly respectful of their routines and personalities. One of my dogs can be a little anxious, and Philip handled that with calm reassurance and experience. I got thoughtful updates, photos, and honest communication the whole time. It’s rare to find someone you can trust fully with your pets, but Philip is absolutely one of those people. I’m grateful for the peace of mind he gave me.”

“Grace was great! She was responsive, sent videos and pictures, and made me feel comfortable. My dog got sick before we left town and she was sensitive and kind and gave extra attention. We will have her again the next time we go out of town.”

About: I have had Pers my whole life, and I am a very well - versed person when it comes to dogs. I constantly watch people’s dogs / walk them when needed. Especially during summertimes. I am good with taking care of older dogs and walking at their pace. I am currently home from school for the summertime, I am taking classes in the meantime but I love to spend time with nature. Dogsitting fits into my schedule because I like to get up early and take care of my priorities and I count animals as one of them I value pets the same way, if not more, to other people. I see pets as another me, and I wouldn’t want anything to happen to them because i set such a high value for them. I think pets are one of the best things in our lives, and I wouldn’t want anything to harm that.
“Michele did a great job watching our Livia while we were in CA. We were very comfortable knowing she was well taken care of. Michele took Livia for a morning walk daily and kept us updated with pictures and notes. She is highly recommended and we wouldn't hesitate to use her again.”

“Thank you, Fatima, for taking such excellent care of my fur babies. Thank you for the adorable pictures that you sent me. I love that. There was one cat on each side of you like they were centurions guarding you. ❤️ thank you for the activities that you did with the cats they really enjoyed having you stay with them! Both cats were so calm when I came home! You are so kind, honest, trustworthy, and my cats just love you! I appreciate you thank you so much!”

“Skyler was wonderful! She was here for our Poppy girl every night and kept as close to her routine as possible. We will definitely be reaching out to Skyler again for future stays!”

“Becca was wonderful! She was able to watch Tazer on short notice over a holiday weekend. She sent updates and photos letting me know how he was doing. I have never had someone new watch him before and she said he adjusted well. It was such a relief knowing I could get away and he was in great hands. I will definitely be using her to sit again.”

FAQs for House Sitting - Barrington Hills
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 6,392 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Barrington Hills. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Barrington Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Barrington Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Barrington Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Barrington Hills. On Rover:

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
