My first time using Rover I didn’t know what to expect having a stranger stay in our home with our kitty. Shelby was so friendly and sweet and sent updates, our kitty loved her! I will definitely rebook with Shelby again! Can’t say thank you enough for such an awesome job. ❤️🐱

This is our 2nd booking with Wanda, 2nd time with Rover as well. I was so hesitant to entrust our pups with a stranger but we were in a bind. I missed the review window for the 1st booking, so I just have to start there. Wanda accepted a meet and greet at a neutral location then a 2nd meet at our home. With us, the dogs, and her, all comfortable with each other, a booking was agreed upon. From that point on it's been so rewarding for not just our dogs, but for us. Wanda keeps us updated on everything, from how many walks a day, and even how many poops per walk. T.M.I. I know, but for those helicopter moms of us, she understands. Please reach out to Wanda if in need of a sitter. Oh, and did I mention, she was at the house for the entire duration of our first 5 night trip, and the 2nd, 3 day trip. Couldn't even tell she had been there but for the door camera. She even followed up after the fact, checking in on them. And could tell our babies didn't miss us as much, as when we got home, they were just like, 'What's up'... Give Wanda a try, you and your 'kids' will not be disappointed!

Cayla was a rockstar! Three months ago, we rescued Badger, a young Red Heeler. She's very skittish around people and, while curious, won't allow people to pet her. At the time, we knew we'd be in Chattanooga for a wedding and would need to leave her for several long days. We were worried it would set back the progress we've made with her feeling comfortable around people. The opposite happened. Cayla moved at the perfect pace for Badger. She gave us some very helpful tips while we were there. If we lived in Chattanooga, we'd hire Cayla on a more regular basis. She communicated well, was on time, and I can't say enough good things about how well she cared for Badger.

Justin has cared for my great dane & lab many times over the last few months. We normally travel at least once long weekend a month, sometimes more. His time with my dogs has improved my life and more specifically, my great danes life, immensely. I realize that may seem like a strange statement for a pet sitter, but let me explain. Kane, the Dane, had turned from a well socialized dog to a very reactive dog through Covid. I had done so many things to try to prevent this from ever appearing, and was a bit overwhelmed to find myself with 165 pound unpredictable, but beautiful animal. With a lot of training and work, I finally got to a place where I could walk him down the street without a muzzle on again. Huge moment for us. I really thought the days of taking him with me to public dog friendly locations was over. And it’s saddened me because I wanted a dog that would be part of my everyday life, not one stuck at the house with an occasional walk. Then Justin entered the scene. With my permission, Justin spent a lot of time not only caring for their basic needs, but socializing them. During this last booking, Justin was even able to take Kane to a local pet friendly establishment, and they both had a great experience. My phone was flooded with pictures and videos of Kane enjoying being part of the world. It was incredible to see that dog again, because it’s been years. I had honestly tried to set that dream aside, thinking it was forever out of reach. A few days after I returned home, Justin went even further above and beyond. He met me and Kane at that same dog friendly location to help give me confidence and support should anything go awry. I got a first row seat to watch my dog be adored on by stranger after stranger. We even had a few nose stiff with the other dogs with no incident. It’s hard to put into words when you thought something you hoped and dreamed for was gone forever, and then it emerges from the most unexpected places. I know to many pet owners this may sound like an overly dramatized story. But to those who have challenges with reactive dogs, you know just how life changing it is. Thank you, Justin. There are not enough words to express how grateful I am to you.

I entrusted Ami with my fur babies while my husband and I went out of town for a few days and she was wonderful!! Ami took great care of my babies and sent me updates throughout her stay at our home with them. I would have her watch them again and again if the need arises she is absolutely fantastic and very sweet! She went above and beyond while she stayed and my house was exactly as we left it. Ami was even kind enough to bring in our trash bins once trash was picked up. Thank you again Ami I know I left them in good hands and it made my time away so much less stressful knowing they had you to keep them company 😊

Allie was fantastic. She took notes during our meet and greet, and was very communicative and sent tons of pictures during her stay. She was also very fast to respond and our dog absolutely loved her. Our pup is camera shy and it said a lot about Allie that our girl felt comfortable enough with her that Allie could get so many good pictures ? We knew our dog was in very good hands with Allie, we would use her again in a heartbeat. Thanks Allie!

About: I don't know that I have any special skills to offer as I'm just starting out as a professional pet sitter, but I've spent my life caring for our family pets. From rescues to pure breds, from bottle feeding babies to slow moving incontinent old seniors, we've loved too many cats or dogs for me to count. We've also had cockatiels, a parrot, a rat, hamsters, (also bred them,) a turtle, chickens and ducks, tropical and salt water fish. Most importantly, I am peaceful, mellow and can earn your pets trust and I can follow your directions. I work on Signal Mountain and I live in Pikeville. I'm a school bus driver so that leaves me 5 hours of free time to visit with your pets. I can do over-nights with preplanning and acceptable accommodation, if we can make it fit with my work schedule. I like to get the work done first and then sit and rest and spend time with pets but of course I will first build trust with your pets before I barge in their home. I have some mobility challenges so long walks or hard pulls on a leash are best suited for another sitter but if you have a baby who just wants to be close, be held, not be alone, they will love me. Pets have a way of gravitating to my side or lap. Something about my demeanor tells them I am safe.

Maria was the BEST. We have had many dogsitters over the years, and she was the best sitter we have ever had. We were going out of the country and on very different timezones, so we were very hopeful she was going to be really communicative. She knocked our expectations out of the park. She sent so many pictures (and as an aside should be a professional pet photographer - the photos were fantastic!), frequent updates, walked our boy a LOT (he thrives on exercise, so we really appreciated this more than we can say), and even took him to her own home during a tornado warning, so he was not here alone. We could not have asked for better care and communication. As an added bonus, Maria kept our house in lovely shape - everything was clean and organized when we returned. She even washed, dried, and remade the bed so that we had clean sheets when we arrived late at night, all without ever being asked!! I cannot recommend Maria enough!! She is so kind, caring, compassionate and overall lovely. We feel SO lucky she was able to sit for us. You will adore her and so will your pets!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Signal Mountain

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Signal Mountain on Rover is $53.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 472 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Signal Mountain. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Signal Mountain walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Signal Mountain maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Signal Mountain choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Signal Mountain. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
