“I can’t say enough good things! I reached out last minute—literally the night before—after my original dog walker had to cancel due to a family emergency. Travian came through bright and early at 6:30 AM with zero hesitation. Total lifesaver.”

“If I could give 100 stars, I would! Anthony is highly knowledgeable, kind, calm, professional, punctual, and friendly. He has a perfect energy that puts dogs at ease. Our two pups have some behavioral issues that Anthony was actually able to shine light on and finally get myself and my fiancé on the same page. His professionalism shown through as well, and he made sure that the meeting was the best possible for our dogs. I can truly say that it was the most productive and positive experience I have had using Rover. I have had strong breeds my whole life and Anthony made an excellent impression on my German shepherd as well as my smaller dog, who is very picky about people. He helped us come up with next steps and made us feel at ease. We will definitely be using his services during our wedding weekend, and I know my dogs will be in excellent hands!”

“Gianna is the best! She is easy to communicate with, on time for walks, trustworthy, and really cares about the animals in her care. She goes above and beyond to make sure my big pup is happy and safe. She has lessened my anxiety about leaving my pup and that means the world to me. She has been a life saver and I highly recommend her. Thanks Gianna 🥰🐾”

“Amanda was a stellar dog walker. I first booked her during the wild week of rain and she was super flexible and willing to make sure my pup still got his time outside. Communication was excellent. Definitely will be booking her again.”

About: I’ve cared for my Samoyed since she was a puppy in 2023 and my Aussie doodle since she was a puppy in 2024. Growing up I have always enjoyed the outdoors and animals, so dog walking was always fun for me and the dogs I walked. I am switching careers at the moment and looking for alternatives to the 9-5. I wake up early and can start walking by 6am, I can do walks up till 7pm. I will follow the rules of your house if I check in on your dogs. Most importantly, making sure I lock up and close any doors I enter to make sure your dogs are safely secured at home.
“Jon is a true professional when it comes to handling dogs and their sensibilities. I’ve already noticed a huge improvement in Kota’s leash pulling. Jon thoroughly understands my dog’s psyche and his pricing is very reasonable. I will continue to work with him. Five stars all the way!”

About: I have hands-on experience caring for dogs through helping take care of my family’s dog. My responsibilities included feeding, walking, providing fresh water, cleaning up after the dog, and making sure they received plenty of attention and exercise. I have a flexible schedule and am available for pet care during weekdays, evenings, and weekends. I am reliable, punctual, and able to provide regular walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship. I will work with pet owners to find times that best fit their pets’ needs. Safety is my top priority when caring for pets. I carefully follow all instructions provided by pet owners, including feeding schedules, walking routines, and any special care needs. I make sure pets are supervised, comfortable, and secure at all times, whether in the client’s home or during walks. I treat every pet with kindness, patience, and respect.

About: Love all types of fur babies! And ready to take care of yours like it’s my own. My boyfriend and I have our own shelter with 13 dogs and 6 cats at our farm in Colombia. Ready to stay active and go on a run or give them all the pets they need and let them nap! Up to the pup or kitty! I’m currently working part time so I’m available during the morning time and for overnight stays. And I love to take walks so if I can stay active and take your fur baby out, that’s perfect! I will take care of your pet as you wish! First, we would establish important health need-to-knows, routines, ground rules, do’s and don’t’s, then I’d be able make sure everyone is comfortable and clear about your pet’s needs.
About: I have had two cats all my life which I have cared for, fed and changed litter for. I also have experience with walking and caring for dogs. I am free anytime from here up until the 16th of August which is when I will be going back to college, but I will be free when winter break comes around. My cats are house cats so it is very easy for me to keep them safe. I shoo them away from anything dangerous or anything they shouldn’t be messing with quickly. As for dogs, I always keep an eye on them and have a tight grip on their leash when walking them so they don’t run off.
About: Growing up, I spent most summers caring for my family friend’s two big golden retrievers. We would spend all weekend together going on walks, playing in the yard, and plenty of snuggles. I take my responsibilities very seriously and know how important it is to trust someone with your pet. They are another family member and someone that cares for them outside of the family makes a huge difference. I am a teacher so during the school year, I am limited to after school hours and weekends but this summer I will have more flexibility in my daily schedule. Maintaining the pet’s regular routine in your home will be important as we prepare for walks or playing in the yard. Ensuring that they are safe and also your home remains safe while I am there is a priority for me.
About: I happened to work as Sales & Social Media Coordinater for a dog training school a few years back, and that experience changed my whole outlook on how we care for our pets! The dog trainers I created content for taught me about positive reinforcement and reward-based methods in the process. Since moving to a different field I’ve used those skills to handle, walk, and petsit every animal from bearded dragons to cats on the side in a way that’s fun for everyone involved. Animals are my happy place & I’d love to share that joy with your family! I work 9AM to 6:15PM most days, so I am the perfect candidate for your morning and evening walks as well as overnight stays! I can do afternoon Drop-Ins for Short Hills/Essex County residents as well. It’s also no problem for me to house-sit and care for your home as gently as your pets! I’m very flexible - please contact me to find a schedule that works for you! I do not offer boarding services in my own home at this time, but I will always make sure I leave my client’s home as I left it when I visit and care for their beloved one 🐾

About: I have over 10 years of pet care experience, taking care of my family’s two dogs and cat, fostering dogs for two years at a local animal shelter, and sitting/ walking neighborhood pets. I currently am free all day, 7 days a week until I begin work as a preschool summer camp counselor in the end of June. After that, I still have a lot of availability, M-F anytime after 3pm and anytime on weekends. I have a fenced yard and crates available if needed. I live in a safe neighborhood with a park nearby which is perfect for walks, and have an animal-loving family. I am an avid rule follower, responsive communicator and will prioritize ensuring the safety of each pet.

“Kiana is the best walker we ever had for Stella. She was on top of everything with quick communication. I will continue to re-book her for future walks and highly recommend!”

About: Hi! My name is Ava, and I’m a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I have volunteered with local animal shelters, adopted and trained three dogs of my own, and fostered multiple dogs over the years. Through these experiences, I’ve become comfortable working with everything from energetic puppies to senior pets who need a little extra patience and care. I also have experience administering a variety of medications and understand the importance of following care instructions closely to keep pets happy, healthy, and comfortable while their families are away. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, cuddles, medication, or simply a reliable companion, I would love the opportunity to care for them as if they were my own. My goal is to make sure both you and your pet feel safe, comfortable, and stress-free while you're apart. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members!!! I am currently working part-time so I am pretty open for all your pet needs! I enjoy adding walking into my routine and would love to have company!! When caring for pets in a client's home, I prioritize keeping their routine as consistent as possible so they feel comfortable and secure while their family is away. - 88% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
