About: Hi! I’m Zara, and caring for animals has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the past 6 years, I’ve gained experience through dog walking, house sitting, and fostering a wide range of animals, from energetic puppies to senior pets who need a little extra patience and care. A lot of my experience is personal, which I think makes it even more meaningful. I grew up with a family dog and learned early on what it means to be responsible for and truly bond with an animal. I also rescued and raised a stray kitten from just 4 weeks old, which was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. Since then, I’ve continued fostering kittens, puppies, cats, and dogs, all with different personalities, needs, and routines. I genuinely love getting to know each pet and what makes them comfortable, whether that’s long walks, playtime, or just having someone calm and reliable around. I treat every animal like they’re my own and make sure they feel safe, cared for, and loved while you’re away. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to prioritize pet care throughout the week. I’m generally available most days, with limited availability on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9–1. Otherwise, I’m open and can accommodate a variety of schedules. I always tailor my care based on each pet’s routine and the owner’s preferences. I know every pet is different, whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, medications, or just how their pet likes to relax. I focus on creating a comfortable, safe, and stress-free environment while giving them plenty of attention, playtime, and care.

About: I am a previous owner of a beautiful Golden Retriever and a Cocker Spaniel. I am also currently a FUNcle to my sister's 100 pound German Shepherd who adores me and I him. I recently moved out of NYC and back to NJ and a lot of my friends parents have asked me to come by to let their pups out and take them on walks every so often when they're away. I would love to take care of your pet as well. I work from home so anything works for me. Your dog will have plenty of outdoor time while I am home so that they aren’t stuck inside all day I live close to a local baseball field that I have access to if I wanted to take them out for more space to play in.
“Xiomara is amazing! Did a really great job of taking care of my two cats, and played with them. My cats have no issues interacting with her, and immediately show interest to her at first intro meeting. She kept house clean and tidy after the visit. Would definitely recommend her and book her again for the future!”

About: I am a lifelong resident of the area and have been a pet care provider for 4 years, both at home, for neighbors, and as an animal shelter volunteer. I'm familiar working with both puppies and senior dogs. I am most comfortable with small to mid-size dogs and can help with reinforcing training. I'm excited to be a friendly and caring presence in your dog's life and provide them with food, exercise, and company when you are out of the house! I'm looking for part-time work and my schedule is flexible, so I'm available on short notice. I'm available during working hours and nighttime any day of the week. I try to keep to a dog's usual routine when it comes to meals and being let outside. I also try to keep them stimulated as much as they are willing or able to be.
“Jillian is awesome! My dog would get super excited to see her for their time together and was always calm and relaxed when we saw him later in the day. Will definitely continue booking through the summer!”

About: I have been taking care of and pet sitting animals, whether it be my own, my family’s or friends basically my whole life. More recently, I have been involved with The Seeing Eye since 2018, as a puppy sitter as well as a volunteer Puppy Raiser, and I have been bathing and grooming dogs professionally since early 2021, working with little puppies for their first grooms all the way up to senior dogs who need a little more love and patience during the grooming process. I have several years of experience working with puppies on basic obedience, and potty training. In addition, I have a 6 year old german shepherd who I have raised and trained myself who I love with my whole heart. I currently work 5 days a week as a groomer, however my schedule can be flexible. I am available most nights after 6 pm and all day Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I do not pet sit in my own home, as I live in a small apartment. However, I would be more than happy to stay over a clients home if needed!
“Amanda was amazing with my two pups! She was super attentive and made sure they were taken care of. Gave me the ease of mind knowing they were loved while I was at work! Will definitely have her again! 😊”

“Anya was punctual and very kind and caring with our dogs. Ruby is a nervous dog, and Anya adjusted to her needs. Anya was able to safely walk both dogs together. It was the puppy’s longest walk so far! Both dogs liked Anya a lot. I would recommend Anya for your pet care needs.”

About: Hi! I'm Jordan, a professional women's soccer player! While soccer keeps me busy, animals have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up surrounded by pets and currently have two dogs back home—a German Shorthaired Pointer named Grace and a Yellow Lab named Earl—as well as my 15-year-old black cat, Pigpen. Being away from them during the season has only made me appreciate how important it is to know they're in good hands, and that's exactly the kind of care I want to provide for your pets. I've spent years dog sitting, cat sitting, providing dog walks, and giving cats the attention and enrichment they need while their families are away. I also volunteer with local animal shelters and have training in cat enrichment, so I'm comfortable working with different personalities, energy levels, and routines. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles, or just someone to keep them company and stick to their routine, I'm happy to meet them where they're at. I know every pet is different, and I treat every animal I care for like they're my own. My goal is to make sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable while giving you peace of mind that they're in good hands! As a professional soccer player, having structure and consistency is a big part of my daily life. My training schedule is planned well in advance, which allows me to dedicate focused time to the pets I care for. Whether it's early morning walks, midday check-ins, or evening visits, I make sure each pet receives the attention, exercise, and companionship they deserve. I know how important it is for pets to stay comfortable in their own environment, so I do everything I can to keep their routine as normal as possible. I'll follow your instructions carefully, whether that's feeding schedules, medications, favorite walking routes, playtime, or bedtime routines. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, happy, and loved while you're away. For dogs, every walk is tailored to their age, energy level, and personality. Some dogs enjoy a long, active walk with plenty of opportunities to explore, while others are happiest with a slower pace and extra sniffing time. Safety is always my top priority, and I'll make sure your dog gets both the physical exercise and mental stimulation they need. For cats, I understand that every personality is different. Some cats love interactive play and attention, while others prefer a calm presence and a familiar routine. With my background in feline enrichment, I enjoy providing activities that keep cats engaged while always respecting their comfort level. I'll also treat your home with the same care and respect that I would my own. You can expect regular updates, photos, and honest communication so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pets—and your home—are in good hands.
About: I've loved animals my entire life and have been surrounded by pets since I was a child. My experience includes volunteering at Furry Friends, where I helped care for animals and learned the importance of patience, compassion, and meeting each pet's individual needs. I've also provided pet care for family, friends, and neighbors, including watching my neighbor's pets while they were away on summer vacations, caring for my sister's dog, and looking after my own two cats. Through these experiences, I've become comfortable with feeding, walking, playing, cleaning up after pets, and making sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while their owners are away. I treat every pet as if they were my own and enjoy building trust with both pets and their families. Pet care fits perfectly into my schedule! I work part-time, which gives me plenty of flexibility throughout the week to care for your furry family members. As long as I have a little advance notice, I'm happy to work with your schedule and make sure your pet gets the love, attention, and reliable care they deserve. Whether it's a quick drop-in or extended care, I'm committed to being there when you need me most! I love making pets feel happy, safe, and loved while their humans are away! I stick to their normal routine by making sure they're fed, have fresh water, get plenty of playtime, walks (if needed), cuddles, and all the attention they want while always respecting their unique personalities and boundaries. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.
To find sitters in Short Hills with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.
