Emily is fantastic. She took such great care of our pup, Jenny. I really feel like she treated her in such a kind and special way. She took her for walks, sent us pics and communicated really well. I never had a single issue with Emily. I plan to hire her again. I would definitely trust Emily with any animal you have.

About: I’m kind and patient with pets. I understand that they are not the same but do require the same type of care and love. I enjoy playing with them and giving them belly rubs and taking them for walks. I’m currently on summer breaks and would like to spend time caring for pets when their loved ones are away. It may be difficult on some families due to their schedule so I would like to make it easier on them. They way I would care for my clients pet at their home. I will check on them first and then see if they have water in their bowl. Will see if they require feeding. Lastly I will follow the instructions left my client. If they need a walk or play with them and keep them company.

About: For the past 5 years I've pet sat for family and friends, especially during the summer. Many have suggested I venture out to pet sit on the side because they love how I care for their pets. Pets are part of the family and I understand the importance of a trusting pet sitter. Your pets safety and well being will always be my priority! I work full time as an emergency room technician. I work 3 twelve hour shifts a week allowing me to have 4 days out of the week to help clients with any pet care needs! I have the flexibility of offering all day/night services both weekdays and weekends! My priority is the safety and well being of your pet! I thoroughly review all the information provided of your pet and communicate any questions I may have. I make an effort to know feeding schedules, potty preferences and activity schedules before meeting your pet. My goal is make sure your pet feels at home with zero disruption to their routine.

About: Since I was younger I have always been considered the “pet whisperer” by my family. Always loving and training every dog we’ve had (poodle, Pomeranian, yorkie, and Rottweilers). Many are impressed by how well my Rottweilers do on walks because they are well trained and I can have them off leash. I love all dogs and have been caring for dogs since I was 5. My love for animals is also taking me to Arizona to study veterinary medicine! I have a car so I will be able to pick up and drop off with ease if needed. I can care for pets all day! I always stay professional and compassionate despite the location of my pet sitting. I love all animals and I am happy to watch them as needed!

About: Hi! My name is Alexis, and animals have always been one of the biggest joys in my life. I absolutely love dogs, cats, and animals of all kinds. I’ve had cats and dogs my entire life, and caring for them has always come naturally to me. I currently have two dogs and five cats of my own, so I understand the love, attention, and commitment that pets need every day. If you know me, you know I’m the person who gets excited every time I see a dog on a walk or a cat lounging outside. I’m always the first one asking if I can pet a dog, and I never pass by a stray animal without trying to make sure it has food, water, or a little kindness. My love for animals is genuine, and spending time with them never feels like a job to me. Over the years, I’ve also helped care for my own pets when they’ve been sick. Whenever one of my cats or dogs needed medication, special care, or extra attention, I was usually the one making sure they got what they needed. Because of this, I’m comfortable following care instructions and being patient with pets who may need a little extra support. In addition to my experience with animals, I work in healthcare, which has taught me the importance of responsibility, attentiveness, and compassion. I understand how important it is to pay attention to details, follow routines, and provide quality care—skills that I bring with me when caring for pets as well. I’m often the go-to pet sitter for family and friends whenever they need someone reliable to care for their pets. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, cuddles, medication administration, or simply keeping your pet company while you’re away, I treat every animal as if they were my own. I know that trusting someone with your pet is a big decision. My goal is to make sure your furry family member feels safe, loved, comfortable, and cared for while giving you peace of mind that they’re in good hands. I can’t wait to meet you and your pets! Pet care fits really naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I currently work night shift, which means my days are usually free and very flexible. Because of that, I have plenty of time and availability to dedicate to walking, drop-ins, and spending quality time with pets during the day. I actually love that my schedule allows me to be fully present when I’m caring for animals—I’m not rushing between work or distracted by a 9–5 schedule. I can give pets my full attention, whether that means morning walks, midday visits, feeding routines, playtime, or just keeping them company and making sure they feel comfortable while you’re away. My routine also makes it easy for me to be consistent and reliable with scheduling. I’m used to balancing responsibilities and working odd hours, so I’m very organized and good at sticking to care instructions and time-sensitive routines. Overall, my flexible daytime availability makes pet care a perfect fit for my lifestyle, and I really enjoy being able to spend that time doing something I genuinely love. When caring for pets in a client’s home, my main priority is making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and as relaxed as possible while their owners are away. I always take time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and any special instructions so I can keep things consistent and familiar for them. I approach every visit with patience and calm energy, letting pets warm up to me at their own pace. Whether it’s feeding, walks, litter box cleaning, playtime, or just spending quiet time together, I make sure each pet gets the attention and care they need. I’m also very detail-oriented when it comes to following instructions. If a pet has a specific feeding schedule, medication routine, or special care needs, I make sure everything is done exactly as requested. I have experience administering medications and caring for pets with extra medical needs, so I’m comfortable handling those responsibilities with care and reliability. While I’m in the home, I also make sure everything stays clean, respectful, and as you left it. My goal is not only to care for your pet, but to give you peace of mind knowing they’re in good hands and your home is being respected. Most importantly, I treat every pet like they’re my own—always with love, patience, and attention to their unique personality.

About: Having grown up with animals my whole life, it became evident early on that I would enjoy a line of work where I got to be around them and learn about them. By 13 years old, I was volunteering at an animal shelter; assisting in feeding, walking, and socializing dogs and cats. My first job at 17 was at a dog boarding/training facility, and by 18, I was working at my first veterinary clinic. It was a dream of mine and it became a catalyst to a wonderful future working with animals. I've worked mainly with dogs and cats but also have some experience with rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, and freshwater fish. I have worked with dogs and cats of all sizes/breeds/temperaments and am knowledgeable about animal behavior. I also have some grooming experience. Rest assured that your fur baby will be in good hands under my supervision. With nearly a decade of experience as a veterinary assistant, I possess the skills to take proper care of your pets. Whether they are seniors, have special needs, take medication, are in training, etc, find comfort in knowing that they will be well taken care of. * Tambien hablo espanol! I am a student and work part-time in healthcare. My flexible schedule allows me to be consistent with check-in and provide quality care to your fur babies. Most days I am sitting doing work and really look forward to taking your pups on walks or decompressing with your kitties. They help me just as much as I help them! I currently live in an apartment so space is a bit limited for those who have larger, high energy pups. However, long walks are done 3 times a day. This can include hikes, park days (I stay away from dog parks), and beach trips. I can crate your dog if needed and accommodate any special needs they require for bed time. Feeding can be scheduled or food can be left out for free-feeding. If your fur baby is taking medication, please be descriptive about what they will need and what method you use to administer medication if they typically don't like taking pills etc. I also like to have a list of their allergies (if they have any) as a precaution.

Gosh, I can’t say enough positive things. I was very nervous about using Rover after a bizarre experience 7 years ago. I also have a lot of anxiety leaving my dog with anyone because she has a history of pancreatitis and the smallest thing can cause a flare up. Kat sent tons of pictures - pictures of the food, poop, playing, walks- all of which were very helpful at alleviating my worries and showing me that everything was ok, things were normal, Ziggy (my dog) was doing great. When I came home, I think Ziggy was actually disappointed I wasn’t Kat! 🤣 Definitely recommend Kat. She really went above and beyond 💜

Absolutely phenomenal! We booked Jason to watch our two dogs (one of whom is a giant breed) and three cats, and he far exceeded all our expectations. From the start, his communication was outstanding—keeping us constantly updated with messages and photos that put our minds at ease. Jason went above and beyond, not only in caring meticulously for our pets but also in looking after our home. What truly impressed us was Jason's ability to handle our giant breed dog with such ease, managing his size and temperament effortlessly. On top of that, our usually skittish cat, who never warms up to anyone, found comfort in Jason—a testament to his natural ability to connect with animals and create a calm, safe environment for them. Knowing that all our fur babies were happy, loved, and well-cared for made our time away so much more enjoyable. We can’t wait to rebook Jason in the future. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your pets like family and expertly manage even giant breed dogs, look no further than Jason!

FAQs for House Sitting - San Fernando

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in San Fernando on Rover is $86.03 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 12,128 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across San Fernando. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred San Fernando walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in San Fernando maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in San Fernando choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in San Fernando. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
