“Iryna took such amazing care of my pup Cannon! She was flexible, communicative, and made Cannon feel right at home throughout his stay. 10/10 experience”

“Aleksandr was a fantastic dogsitter - he was extremely responsive and sent updates and questions while Ray was boarding with him. He also sent lots of cute photos of my dog, Ray, on outdoor excursions and relaxing at home, and it’s clear Ray had a great time. I highly recommend Aleksandr!”

“We have trusted Emily to watch Lincoln a number of times, and she has been nothing short of incredible! We get tons of updates, pictures, and videos of Lincoln on walks or having a great time at the dog park. We could not recommend Emily enough!”

“Shaun is an amazing sitter. He has taken care of my dog multiple times and always provides top tier service. His updates and pictures give me one less thing to worry about when I am away from my dog. He always goes above and beyond and I truly appreciate the care he has shown my dog.”

“I had such a great experience with Vanessa. She took amazing care of my dog and went above and beyond to keep me updated with frequent messages, pictures, and videos. It gave me so much peace of mind to see how happy and well cared for my pup was while I was away. You can tell she genuinely loves animals and treats them like her own. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive sitter. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

“John is caring, reliable, and super responsive. What more can I say? Our terrier has been in very good hands with him--for two separate overnights as well as a seven-day stay.”

“Melanie was an absolute pleasure to work with. It was clear she cared for Archie as if she were her own. She kept me updated throughout her stay and proactively sent lots of photos (which I loved!), so I never had to wonder how she was doing. It was also obvious that Archie truly enjoyed staying with her. I highly recommend Melanie — and I know Archie gives her two paws up!”

“I’ve booked with Marina twice now and have safely left my dog with her for about 1 week at a time each time. She sends daily photos and is very responsive at all times which is reassuring to me. Pick up and drop off are no hassle as well and rather flexible. Would absolutely recommend for your dog sitting needs :)”

About: I believe that as humans, we don’t deserve animals and therefore we should give them the greatest quality of love and care. I grew up in a dog household with our little poodle who I loved so dearly. She went through all of my childhood with me, even after I left the house for college. I loved dogs so much that my neighbors realized and I began to watch their animals at a very young age. My neighbor’s dog, Pepper, was my best friend and the hardest day of my childhood was when she unfortunately passed. She meant the world to me and wasn’t even my family’s dog hahah. I cared for animals so deeply that I thought I may want to become a veterinarian, so I started working at a vet hospital and did that all throughout high school. I learned a large range of skills there as well as just overall knowledge of the health of domestic animals. I was able to tun puppy socialization classes there as well. It was an amazing experience. As I’ve grown older, I have watched many dogs and cats. Friends, family, and people I meet through friends have asked me to watch their animals and I always feel honored that they choose me to be the one they trust with their pets. It is a big job and a big responsibility, so it means a lot to me. During Covid, I had to come home from college and my parents decided (with much convincing from me) to got a 8 week old puppy. While they worked for 8 hours of the day, I stayed home with Sampson, cared for him, trained him, and got to help him grow up into the amazing dog he is today. I just can’t believe we have such amazing creatures on this earth and we get to have them as OUR companions. I work fully remote Monday-Friday 8am-5pm so it makes things a lot easier in terms of being able to care for a pet in my home. Bathroom breaks, cuddle sessions, and walks are incredibly easy for me to provide. I am very happy to go to a clients home as well, but that may be easier for me on a weekend, unless I can work from the client’s home. I am happy to do walks or any care after 5:00pm. As long as I’m not traveling on the weekend, I am free to do any care or boarding during that time as well. I am a firm believer of keeping a routine, if your pet has one, and not indulging them too much. I’m going to give them love and care and treats, but only as much as they desire, feel comfortable with, and is reasonable all around. I don’t have a yard unfortunately, but I live very close to Central Park as well as another park that have dog parks or are just good places to take your pet. I do feel as though it is important for me to know how your animal interacts with other animals, as I will always do what the client feels most comfortable with.
“Stephanie was an amazing Dogsitter. She kept in close contact and sent lots of pics which helped us feel comfortable and confident that Rosie was being loved and well cared for. We will definitely be using her again.”

“Sarah and Danny were extremely kind and communicative. They sent plenty of photos and updates throughout my dog’s stay, putting my mind at ease. I would definitely use them again.”

“This is our fourth time leaving our Boston with Christa. She is wonderful and always super accommodating. We can see how happy and comfortable our dog is with Christa. Christa will take wonderful care of your pet!”

“Heather was amazing! I was away for a week and she sent me cute photos of Archie consistently and he has come back super happy and healthy. I would trust her to look after Archie again any time,”

“I will give Kate 10/10 I can feel when I picked up my dog ,my furry daughter had been taken care of. And she keep me updated everyday which is amazing. And my dog is old and not many Dogsitter really know how to take care of old dog due to my previous experience of dog sitter. I just rebook Kate again for my upcoming gateway family and I feel assured that my dog will feels like home with her.”

About: Hi! I'm Brooke, a grad student at Columbia University and lifelong animal lover! I grew up with 2 dogs, a rescue and shitzu poodle mix and have always loved being around animals. During school, I’ve had the opportunity to dog walk, dog sit, and provide overnight boarding for many different families. Through these experiences, I’ve cared for dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, and personalities, and have learned how to adapt to each dog’s individual needs. As an active person, I especially love getting dogs outside for walks, playtime, and exercise! I’m also very attentive to each dog’s individual needs and personality, whether your pup wants a long walk, lots of playtime, or just some company while you’re away. Most importantly, I’ll treat your dog like they’re my own and keep you updated while you’re away! ❤️🐶 My class schedule is Monday and Tuesday from 8 AM–12 PM and Thursday from 12–4 PM, so I’m available for walks, drop-ins, and pet care outside of those hours. I’m also fully available on weekends for walks, check-ins, boarding, and daycare! I live in a pet-friendly building in a one-bedroom apartment with no other pets, so your pup will have a calm and comfortable space all to themselves.
“Steven did a wonderful job with my cat, Donovan. He can be an extremely anxious cat, but he felt right at home. Steven also sent me daily photos and videos to reassure me. I recommend him 100% and will definitely use him in the future for boarding.”

“Ethel is incredibly kind and handled our very large and high energy dog with ease. She provided consistent updates accompanied by photos and videos of our dog playing and having the time of his life. Our dog got so much exercise with Ethel and her golden, and was dropped off happy and exhausted. Would recommend her to anyone!”

“Jen took such great care of our girl, Alice, who can be slow to warm to strangers! We got lots of pictures of her snuggled up on the couch and playing. Knowing she was so comfortable and having fun made being away from home so much easier! We’ll definitely book Jen again.”

Eileen was absolutely wonderful with our kitten, Velvet! This was our first time leaving her, so I was naturally a little nervous, but Eileen’s kindness, attentiveness, and thoughtful updates gave me such peace of mind. It was clear that Velvet felt safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for. She came home happy and relaxed, and I’m so grateful! I would absolutely trust Eileen with our kitty again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will treat their pet like family.

Jagruti did 16 days of walks, plus a week of boarding at their home, for our Labrador while we were away in August. This included hand-off and return of our dog and her essentials in the middle of the relevant period, because we were away at different times. Everything went very well - good communications before, during and after. Plenty of pictures and updates❤️ Thanks very much!
Our toy goldendoodle Sky, almost 2 years old, had a great time with Xander during a 2+ week stay. Sky came back looking healthy and happy and it was clear that he was going to miss Xander. Sky is easy-going and very friendly, but he is a picky eater who often doesn’t eat or finishes his meals, during the stay Xander managed to convince him to eat well which was very reassuring. We hope that Sky can come back for another stay in the future!!

Julie was absolutely wonderful taking care of our dog while we were away. She took her on walks, gave her lots of attention, and sent us beautiful pictures and videos that gave us so much peace of mind. We especially loved seeing how comfortable and relaxed she was with Julie, even enjoying her favorite carpet just like she does at home. 🐾 Julie was caring, attentive, reliable, and clearly treated our dog with so much love. It was obvious from the pictures that she felt safe, happy, and well cared for. Being away from your pet is never easy, but knowing she was in such good hands made our trip much more enjoyable. We are very grateful to Julie and would absolutely trust her to care for our dog again. Highly recommended to anyone looking for someone who will treat their pet like family.

Carly is amazing! She is super responsive and sends frequent updates/pictures. We did a meetup before the multi-night stay, and even though my dog had only met Carly once at the meetup, she was thrilled to see Carly again a week later when we were dropping her off. Clearly my dog could tell right away that Carly is a dog-lover! I’m sure my pup loved staying with her!

Highly recommend Taeik as a sitter! My cat stayed with him for ten days. He was very communicative and sent photos of her during the day. I appreciate him keeping track of her medicine schedule and being flexible to try to make her feel comfortable. She can be very opinionated but they got along well!

Tina was amazing with my dog Orbit. She was attentive to his allergies. She kept to his diet and added healthy snacks. She walked him on time, cleaned his ears and paws and made sure to send photos of his stay. I would definitely trust Orbit to her love and care again.

I can't say enough about Marco. We recently adopted our dog Rosie, who has had a tough life, and we had to leave for this trip not too long after adopting her for 10 days and Marco more than rose to the occasion. He was professional, communicative, concerned, and loving. He has excellent attention to detail and kept me up to date on everything from daily behavior to injuries, and even took Rosie to the vet at one point when she needed it. I got pictures every day and he took exceptional care of Rosie, and I would unreservedly recommend Marco to anyone looking to board their dog or have their dog watched for the day.

Vanessa is the BEST!!!!!!! She made me feel so comfortable leaving my girl with her and sent so many pictures and videos! I was at ease the whole time I was away! She is so nice and pleasant! Arya came home happy, healthy and sleepy from her walks!!!! Thanks so much!!!! Highly recommend!!!!

We were thrilled that we found Ryan to take care of Manchie during our 4-day trip. Ryan clearly bonded with Manchie, taking multiple walks every day and playing fetch in his building 's private enclosed dog run. He kept us updated by sending photos and videos of their adventures every day. Manchie came back to us happy and tired. We would not hesitate to use Ryan again when we need a sitter for Manchie.

Sherrie was wonderful! She’s excellent with routine. She asked all the right questions, followed all instructions, and is a true animal lover. We wanted a mature and responsible caregiver and after our meet & greet we were positive we found The One. After seeing Sherrie with her own sweet dog, we could tell how committed and wonderful she is as a pet owner. Thank you so much to Sherrie and her finance. ❤️ They made our trip worry free and we will book again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
