We adore Avery! Always kind, always responsive, and the dogs are always happy and healthy when we return. If it wasn’t for the fact that the dogs have been fed I’d question if he was even here because the house is always exactly as we left it. We appreciate you!!

Thus far we have had Laura do approximately 5 hour drop in where she hung out the entire time with our girl, Jaxson. Prior to hiring her we met her to see how she and Jaxson hit it off and they did great together. Jaxson is really excited to see her and enjoys her company. Laura was very attentive, respectful, on time and caring. We would hire her again in the future.

Brittney was awesome with my house full of fur babies. It takes so much anxiety out of my trips away to know I have someone dependable to stay at our home. She went above and beyond expectation in that she not only stuck to their everyday walking schedules, feeding schedules, medication schedules, and various special instructions for a couple of the pets…but she she also helped me out with watering a plant I was concerned about and even offering to stay longer if I needed her to. I would definitely recommend her…My pets really felt comfortable with her and I hope to use her again in the near future. Thanks Brittany! 5 ⭐️’s!!!!

Jessica was Amazing! She was very attentive to both my cats & spent time with them. My Cooper wasn't feeling well, so he would hide but she made sure to check on him & see him before she left for the day and let me know how he was feeling & eating. She sent me lots of pictures and updates everyday which made me feel at ease, we were gone a week for a cruise. I would recommend her for any of your fur-babies needs. I will definitely have Jessica & Chevy over again to play with my kitties, they're a blessing.

About: I love fur babies of all sizes, ages, and breed’s!! I can’t remember a time that there wasn’t a dog or cat in my house, if not multiple. I unfortunately lost my previous precious babies within 2 months of each other almost 3 years ago due to their ailments. I adopted them when they were about the same age and that sadly led to them becoming old and sick together. I had 2 dogs, Pancho and Lulu, that had kidney disease along with chronic arthritis. Pancho also had vestibular and Lulu also had dementia. They were on prescription diets as well as medications and supplements that needed to be given at specific times. When Pancho would relapse with vestibular, he needed to be walked with a special harness which I am very grateful for and familiar with. Lulu’s age unfortunately got the best of her so I am also used to laser and acupuncture therapy as well as simply letting them know that it’s OK to potty inside or forget what they were doing. I can’t imagine what their minds are going through. I also had two cats, Miracle and Elvyra. Miracle was diabetic which involved a strict schedule of prescription feeding and medications, including insulin. Elvyra was in heart failure, had vestibular, and was asthmatic. She was also on a strict schedule of a prescription feeding along with oral and topical medications. I had to check her breathing everyday so I have an app (given to me by my vet) and am still very familiar with noticing signs of distress. I currently have an elder cat, Maggie, that has hyperthyroidism and arthritis. She started off as a foster, but when I learned about her ailments it seemed like it was meant to be that she stayed with me. She has progressed so much since being on the correct diet and medications. While I definitely spoil her, I couldn’t be happier that she’s succeeding the way she is. I also currently have an outside cat, Kitty. His mother unfortunately after caring for him his entire 18 years of life decided to move away and not take him with her. I took it upon myself to take care of him. While he didn’t like anyone before except his mother, which is completely understandable given his history, he has grown to love and trust me. It took several months and patience, but I am so very proud of the strength that he has to trust me after the heartbreak he just went through. I have my own fur babies, however I am very fortunate to have my wife care for ours so that I am able to love and care for yours as much as possible! I am very precise and particular with my babies so I understand wanting things done “your way”. Nothing can be more stressful than leaving your loved ones with someone else. Trust me, I get it.

About: I’ve always had lifelong passion for animals, having grown up in a household with a variety of pets. This hands-on experience from an early age has given me a deep and thorough understanding of pet behavior, needs, and care routines. This allows me to both connect with them better and to gain their trust. Whether it's a young puppy that requires more playtime and socialization development or a senior dog that requires extra attention and care, I ensure that every pet gets the specialized treatment and love they deserve. One of my strengths is my communication skills, and I will regularly provide updates and keep pet owners informed about their pets' well-being. Whether it’s regular check-ins, photos, or progress reports, you can rest assured that your pet is with a responsible, caring, adult. Additionally, I’m highly flexible, whether it's dealing with last-minute changes to schedules or handling specific requests from pet owners. I make it a priority to understand and respect each pet’s unique personality, preferences, and routine. From daily walks, playtime, or administering special diets, I tailor my approach to suit their specific needs. My attention to detail, along with my love for animals, ensures that pets under my care feel happy, safe, and loved. Overall, my approach combines expertise, compassion, and attention to detail to give both pets and their owners peace of mind. My commitment to creating a safe and stimulating environment for pets, along with my ability to adapt to each pet’s unique requirements, ensures they receive the best care possible while you’re away. Pet care is an integral part of my daily routine. I prioritize consistency and structure, which I believe is key to providing pets with the attention and care they need. On a daily basis, I ensure pets receive regular feeding, exercise, and mental stimulation, along with any necessary medications or special care. I make time for walks, play sessions, and bonding time to keep pets happy and healthy. I’m flexible, and can adapt my routine to accommodate any special requests from pet owners, ensuring that they receive personalized attention and the highest level of care. Caring for pets in my own home or a client's home involve meeting their physical, emotional, and health needs. This includes providing proper nutrition, regular exercise, and mental stimulation through play time and walks. Safety is also a priority, with attention to home hazards, secure rest areas, and an overall comfortable environment. In a client’s home, these practices are adapted to fit the pet’s specific needs and the owner’s instructions.

Kristy did a wonderful job looking after my dog, Romeo. I felt comfortable going out of town for a few days knowing she would make sure he had his walks, food/water, play time, and love while I was away. Romeo was safe in her care and he was able to follow his normal routine in his own home which was a much better experience than boarding him. Kristy is kind, patient, and trustworthy. My home was kept tidy and she even vacuumed dog hair a couple of times. She was timely and thorough in everything I asked her to do. It was a pleasant surprise and so nice of her to send pictures and videos of Romeo, too! I will definitely be counting on her again in the future the next time I need someone to walk Romeo or look after him for a few days. He loved her and now they have made a new friendship. This was my first time using Rover, so I really didn't know what to expect. It was nice to work out the details with Kristy in a way that was comfortable for us all. She is flexible and understanding. Thank you for doing what you do to keep our loved pets safe in your care.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Ormond-by-the-Sea on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 560 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ormond-by-the-Sea. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ormond-by-the-Sea walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ormond-by-the-Sea maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ormond-by-the-Sea choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ormond-by-the-Sea. On Rover:

  • 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
