“We booked Meg for house-sitting our dog, Penny, for the weekend of our tea ceremony and she was nothing short of spectacular! Penny takes medication day and night and needs to go out about 4x a day. Meg was especially accommodating of her needs and ours as puppy parents who dote on their dog endlessly. We are thrilled to have her help out for any of our future needs as well. Meg left the house in perfect condition and even washed the sheets before she left which she didn't need to do. Anyone would be lucky to have her care for your fur-baby!”

“We have 5 dogs which can definitely be a handful so we can’t trust them with just anyone. Joe did an awesome job at our meet and greet to do a slow introduction so everyone involved felt comfortable. Joe stayed for 4 days, 3 nights and did very well with all of them, keeping us up to date on feedings and pics of the pups playing. He also took care to leave the house in good clean condition, we unfortunately had a leak in our bay window after a heavy rain but Joe cleaned it up to make sure no further water damage occurred while we were gone which was very appreciated. We would definitely hire Joe again if needed.”

About: Labs have been in my life since I was born, but I got my kitten at age 6, so I'll say that's when my real pet care experience began! Animals are such a significant part of my life that I got my bachelor's degree in zoology. I've practiced dairy goat husbandry, studied monkeys in the Surinamese rainforest, and worked as an animal keeper at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Not only do I understand how to care for animals, but I'm a truly playful and active person. There's nothing better than romping around outside with a pup and wearing one another out! That being said, I helped care for my family dog Farrah in her senior years and during that time we shared some of the most tender and mellow moments. If my admiration of pets isn't yet clear, I also paint pet portraits and you can see some in my profile photos. I’m a morning person, up with the sun, so early walks and check-ins are no problem! I also have a hybrid work schedule, which supports my flexibility around pet care. Pets are family members and the magnitude of trust put towards a petsitter is not something I take for granted. I care deeply about helping my clients feel at ease when I'm caring for their beloved pets. I'm meticulous and detail-oriented in everything I do, and that translates to following pet care directions and routines to a T. I'm open to talking through all of your needs and concerns to help make the experience excellent for all involved.
“Emily was great! She sent lots of pictures and made sure my dogs were taken care of while I was out of town, especially when one wasn’t feeling well. I would definitely have her pet sit again!”

“James is the best!! He has taken care of my reactive, anxious, senior pup and my senior cat many times. I can comfortable travel internationally for over a week without any worries. My pets love James so much and he’s an amazing house guest. Can’t recommend him highly enough!”

“Elizabeth is always great with our pets - two pitbull mixes and a grumpy old cat. She has been able to accommodate us even on short notice when our daughter was born, and again recently when we had to travel last minute for a funeral. We appreciate her so much!”

“Emily is a fantastic dog sitter! We felt so comfortable having her house sit our two dogs, with one still being house trained, and we could actually relax on our vacation knowing that our dogs were in good care. She was flexible enough to do a meet and greet before we left for vacation and she constantly kept us updated with pictures of our dogs. She is so loving and caring and we could tell that she loves all dogs. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dog sitter, you will not be disappointed!”

“Maddie was a wonderful sitter for our two big fur babies. She was always quick to respond to messages, provided pics, and went above and beyond to leave our home clean and ready for our return. She even managed to clean Odin's ears multiple times, which usually sends him running for the hills. A great experience, and very comforting knowing she was there with our pets. Highly recommended!”

“Breon is a life saver. She always cares for the animals with the utmost love and care. But we got stuck in NYC with cancelled flights and having her ensure they were safe and cared for while we tried to get home, was a life saver.”

“Danielle was truly heaven sent while we were on our honeymoon. Our dog has special needs and she handled everything like a pro! Our pup even had some tummy troubles while she was there and she went absolutely above and beyond to take care of him until we could get back. We are so grateful to have found Danielle and we will absolutely book with her again!”

“We’ve used Aspen twice now and can’t recommend her enough! Great communication and it’s nice knowing your pets are in good hands. Thanks again Aspen!”

About: I’ve had pets since I was young and love taking dogs for walks, being affectionate with cats, and also meet your pet at their level and their energy! I work part-time as an in-home tech consultant, so my schedule is very flexible and I’m available for mornings, afternoons, evenings, and overnight! I’m also available for extended sittings if needed (: I will always communicate and make sure I’m meeting your pet’s needs. I love sharing their activities with them (staring out the window, playing on the ground, talking to each other) and am always looking out for their comfort and safety (:

About: Hello! I recently moved to CLE for a full-time role post grad. With the travel requirements needed for work I don’t have time for my own pet so would love to be able to provide services for a range of different dogs and cats. I have ownership experience with both large dogs (labradors) and smaller dogs (miniature dachshunds) as well as cats. I grew up on a family farm so I have experience looking after a multitude of different types of animals as well. I am available to walk dogs or to come over and care for an animal when the owner is away as well. I promise to provide excellent care for your animal(s) and professional service too. Taking care of animals is truly a passion of mind and I would love to take care of yours! Currently working full-time so my availability is mostly on weekends. I work from home on Monday and Fridays so could potentially walk or care for animals during those two days as well. I live in an apartment and watch smaller animals at my place from time to time. Also able to go to clients’ homes and watch/walk animals at their place. I currently dog sit for two neighbors in my apartment building and would love to watch even more animals.
“Riya did an excellent job caring for our 2 year old toy poodle while we are out on vacation as a house sitter. She fed him, walked him and made sure to send us a daily update with pictures on his activities - giving us the peace of mind he was safe and cared for while we were away from our little boy. We will be sure to use Riya’s services again the next time we need to travel and need someone to watch Wilkie at home.”

“Kristen did a fantastic job with our two dogs while we were out of town for 5 days! She was very responsive to communication the entire time. We didn’t return to any accidents or messes we had to clean up which for us is a blessing as one of our dogs tends to have some potty issues when we are gone for an extended period. Usually our dogs are super excited to see us when we return- this time I think they were disappointed to see us and not to see Kristen!! Would definitely rebook ☺️”

Sarah took really great care of our dogs! I arrived home to happy pups 🤍. Sarah communicated frequently and provided daily updates, which I love. She left the house clean (seriously couldn’t even tell someone stayed there). I will definitely recommend her to friend and use her again in the future.

Meredith took great care of my dog during an overnight stay. Always very responsible and flexible with plans which was greatly appreciated! The text updates/pictures through the stay let me know my dog was in good hands. Thank you, Meredith! Appreciate you taking great care of my pup!

Carla was fantastic! I felt really at ease knowing she was with my dog Kiwi when I had a last minute request. She was super communicative and I really appreciate how much TLC Kiwi got while I was gone, and loved the pictures! 10/10 experience would absolutely recommend.

Lydia did an excellent job! She communicated well, sent us lots of pictures, and asked all kinds of questions to ensure she was providing the best care possible. We appreciated her flexibility, friendliness, and holistic care for our pup. Glad to have her back in the future!

Andria is perfect and an absolute pleasure to work with! She took lots of photos of our furbabies and was respectful of our house. She even brought in a package delivery from outside, which is just so sweet! Andria is clean, well organized and very thorough. Andria was available on super short notice, which helped us out immensely.

Jonathan was amazing! I would absolutely book with him again. He helped us out in such a pinch and followed every routine for our dogs. He was very communicative and sent many pictiures. He stayed at our home and left it in prestine condition, 10/10 stars from me!

Pups seemed to love her!! She was willing to meet and greet before since im anxious leaving my pups with someone else. Was so kind as to being our 40 pound bags of dog food too since it arrived earlier than expected 😭 would def book again and cant wait to see how my pups grow to like her even more!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Ohio City on Rover is $42.18 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,327 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ohio City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ohio City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ohio City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ohio City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
