“Maddie was a life saver. We had a dinner to attend and our dog was having issues with a new medication. We didn't want to leave her alone and Maddie responded quickly to a request for help. All went well and I hope that Maddie will come back again.”

“Highly recommend Breon! This was our first time leaving our pup overnight, and she made us feel very comfortable doing so. Great communication, our dog took to her quickly, and she left our place very clean as well. Thanks again!”

“Andrea was amazing and took great care of our senior shiba inu. We really appreciated her proactive communication and we’d recommend to anyone else with pet sitting needs!”

About: I have pet sat for years, with both cats and dogs. I also have a dog of my own who is 7. I take care of every dog the way I would want my own to be taken care of. I’m a full-time graduate student, and I work full-time. Taking care of dogs as a way to make some extra money to pay for school and rent is the goal! I can easily crate a dog if needed or make sure they are kept safe in a fenced in yard. I am also able to keep a dog safely on their leash.
“Megan and Jeremiah were great. It was only one night, but they took great care of my foster dog, Zoey. They left my house prsotiem and even took out my garbage! They were both very friendly and kind.”

“Christabel was great with my cats, and she was very communicative during my trip. I appreciated her ability to take my booking, even though it was last minute. I will definitely keep her in mind for future trips!”

“Emily was great! She sent lots of pictures and made sure my dogs were taken care of while I was out of town, especially when one wasn’t feeling well. I would definitely have her pet sit again!”

“Steve did a great job caring for my Labrador retriever while I was out of town. He provided updates with pictures, treated my dog like his own, and took good care of the house. Will definitely be keeping Steve on our list of rotating dog sitters!”

About: I've been an animal person my entire life. I grew up helping pet-sit the neighborhood dogs, and my family loved a rescue German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix from the time I was 10 (she was 2) until she was 15 - she watched us grow up and even visited my college house. As an adult, my heart belonged to January, a border collie/American Staffordshire terrier mix I brought home in my late 20s after seeing her story on the news. She was an energetic, clever puppy who taught me patience, consistency, and the value of positive training. We had 13 wonderful years together before she passed in November 2025. Losing January left a hole in my routine and my heart, and I’m not quite ready to adopt again - but I’ve found real joy and healing in caring for other people's pets. I've recently house-sat and hosted dogs, cats, and birds for friends and family, from puppies and kittens to seniors on medications with special needs. That experience, plus a gentle nudge from the people who suggested Rover, is what brings me here. I've used the same trusted vet since I was a kid and know the ropes - comfortable administering medication, contacting the vet, or getting emergency care if needed. Your pet will be loved, watched closely, and cared for like one of my own. I work a hybrid schedule: two days at home (typically Monday and Friday) and three 8-hour days in an Avon Lake office (Tuesday-Thursday). My schedule is flexible and easy to swap these days. I can use my noon lunch break for midday walks, potty breaks, and playtime if you're within 5-10 miles of my location. I’m available in the evenings after work for walks, feeding & visits. I'm also happy to water plants, bring in mail, and handle other small house-sitting tasks. I live in a cozy Lakewood duplex on the first floor with a front yard and porch that dogs (including my former dog and the neighbors’ dogs) love to lounge on. I have a yard stake leash available for safe outdoor time. I already have bowls, beds, leashes, and other supplies, so your pup won't need to travel with a pile of gear if you don’t want to. I can board up to two dogs at a time -any size, any friendly mix - but I don't board cats in my home (happy to care for them at yours).
“Olesja did such a good job with our pup. He has some seriously special needs and Olesja was able to figure them out so quickly. He was so happy when we got back and our house was in great shape. We will absolutely be using Olesja again.”

“Kerrigan was absolutely amazing! We booked her last minute due to travels plans shifting and she was on time, responsive, and adaptable! She provided responsive check ins and if I did reach out to remind her of anything she responded very quickly. Roscoe really enjoyed his time with her and we felt he was in good hands! 🙂 We will definitely rebook with her in the future 🥰”

“I recently had the pleasure of hiring Denise to care for my two Bernedoodle dogs, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Denise was incredibly attentive and ensured that my dogs were well-cared for and entertained throughout their stay. She followed all feeding and walking instructions meticulously and even went the extra mile to send me regular updates and photos. My dogs were happy and relaxed when I returned, a testament to the loving and professional care they received. I highly recommend Denise to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate dog sitter.”

“Maura was very responsive when I reached out to schedule with her! We got the meet and greet set up that same day for within a week and then she was able to watch my guys within two weeks! During the meet and greet, she asked plenty of questions and it made myself and my fiance feel comfortable leaving our animals in her care as she seemed very on top of it! She was also very nice and listened to all of our instructions! Maura stayed over for the weekend and sent picture updates every day. The boys looked comfortable and like they were enjoying themselves! Once arriving home, the house was clean and tidy! No complaints here! Glad we went with her and will definitely be rebooking with her again!”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Rocky River is $50

Words cannot express how grateful we are to have found Breon. From the moment we met her, Breon was nothing but professional - and a natural with our dogs. She kept us updated, sent photos and videos, and we returned to a clean home with happy pups. This was the first trip where we were not worried at all about our fur babies. In fact, we were so "not worried" that we asked Breon if her schedule would allow her to stay a couple of extra days. Again, we feel beyond lucky that we found Breon. It has been a game changer for us, and now we are actually excited to go on vacation! Thank you so much, Breon!!!

Kerrigan was absolutely amazing! We booked her last minute due to travels plans shifting and she was on time, responsive, and adaptable! She provided responsive check ins and if I did reach out to remind her of anything she responded very quickly. Roscoe really enjoyed his time with her and we felt he was in good hands! 🙂 We will definitely rebook with her in the future 🥰

Amber was amazing – truly amazing. I get a lot of anxiety about who I trust to take care of our dogs, and she made me feel completely at ease. She sent tons of pictures and updates, which I really appreciated, and somehow even managed to win over our territorial, anxious Aussie. By the end, they were basically besties. 😂 Amber is fabulous. Highly, highly recommend her, and we will absolutely be booking with her again!

Jennifer was an amazing sitter for Lucy. I received daily updates with photos and knew she was in great hands. Leaving a younger puppy for a longer vacation was difficult, but knowing she was with a loving family made it so much easier. I highly recommend Jennifer!

We can go away and enjoy ourselves with Renee. She gives us peace of mind. She is responsive, takes great care of our home while she is here, she actually leaves it in better condition than when we left, LOL. Great communication and sends lots of photos! We highly recommend her. Renee, thank you so much! We had the best time on our trip!

Maura did a great job with our two dogs. She was able to care for our dog who was recovering from a procedure and needed a little extra care and attention. She sent regular updates and pictures and left the home very clean. The dogs enjoyed having her and we would definitely have her watch the dogs again.

Emily was absolutely wonderful watching our dog bean for a week while we were on vacation! Bean is a super shy dog with some arthritis and weird quirks so it was so great that she was able to make bean feel comfortable and secure! She did a great job handling her meds and routine. We came back to a spotless house and a happy dog!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rocky River walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rocky River maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rocky River choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
