“Christina was fantastic with my little ones. She stayed at our house, sent us photos, and checked in daily. It was such a relief knowing that my dogs are comfortable while gone. Definitely will use her again!”

“Kaylie is amazing and made sure to give lots of updates and photos. She was a fantastic sitter for my pup and I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again in the future!”

“Alyssa was wonderful for our two dogs! They seemed very happy and comfortable. Really appreciate her and definitely eased my anxiety leaving them knowing they were in good hands. Will definitely use her again in the future!”

“Elizabeth took great care of our 2 year old dog, Rory. She was completely reliable, sent lots of pictures, and we could tell he was well loved when we returned home. She left our house very clean and communicated well with lots of pictures while we were away. We will absolutely be using her again!”

“Jo is simply the best. This is our second time using her and it won’t be our last! She provides excellent care for our 14 y/o dog and I trust her completely. This last visit a recurring medical issue flared up for him and Jo was the first to spot it. She gives detailed communication and was able to pivot and adjust to the new medication instructions immediately. I’m so happy Jo was there to care for Chesney while we were away. It gave me the peace of mind any pet parent (esp of a senior dog) wants. Thank you, Jo!”

“James was absolutely amazing!!! Took great care of my senior cat Vino who has asthma. I can't recommend James enough! I felt such relief and comfort knowing Vino was in good hands while I was traveling.”

“Jake was great! My little puppy just loved him. She got so excited when he came to watch her and was just all about him. It made leaving for work much easier. Jake was very sweet and respectful. We definitely book with him again when we need a sitter!”

“Nichole was great! Olive has very Happy. I was going to have her come over in a couple weeks to let Olive out, however, my neighbor said they would do it for me. I will definitely keep her in mind when making other travel plans!”

“What wonderful people! I feel like Joshua and Mauren cared for my dog as they would their own. Their level of communication never left me wondering how things were going back home, while I was away. We had asked them to stay in our home, and they took such good care of it. I wouldn't hesitate to ask them to be a caregiver for my dog in the future.”

“Michelle was fantastic! I always have anxiety about leaving my fur babies with sitters. Michelle put all of anxiety at ease. I got daily pictures and updates. My doggos always looked happy, content, and well cared for, and that's all I could hope. She followed the dogs routine, and I think they enjoyed having a friend come over. I will definitely be using Michelle again!”

“Allyce did a fantastic job watching my dog and cat while my boyfriend and I were away for nearly a week. They loved her! They played and snuggled together which is just what they needed. She sent pictures everyday and gave updates along the way. Highly recommend.”

“Megan and Jeremiah were great. It was only one night, but they took great care of my foster dog, Zoey. They left my house prsotiem and even took out my garbage! They were both very friendly and kind.”

About: I've been an animal person my entire life. I grew up helping pet-sit the neighborhood dogs, and my family loved a rescue German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix from the time I was 10 (she was 2) until she was 15 - she watched us grow up and even visited my college house. As an adult, my heart belonged to January, a border collie/American Staffordshire terrier mix I brought home in my late 20s after seeing her story on the news. She was an energetic, clever puppy who taught me patience, consistency, and the value of positive training. We had 13 wonderful years together before she passed in November 2025. Losing January left a hole in my routine and my heart, and I’m not quite ready to adopt again - but I’ve found real joy and healing in caring for other people's pets. I've recently house-sat and hosted dogs, cats, and birds for friends and family, from puppies and kittens to seniors on medications with special needs. That experience, plus a gentle nudge from the people who suggested Rover, is what brings me here. I've used the same trusted vet since I was a kid and know the ropes - comfortable administering medication, contacting the vet, or getting emergency care if needed. Your pet will be loved, watched closely, and cared for like one of my own. I work a hybrid schedule: two days at home (typically Monday and Friday) and three 8-hour days in an Avon Lake office (Tuesday-Thursday). My schedule is flexible and easy to swap these days. I can use my noon lunch break for midday walks, potty breaks, and playtime if you're within 5-10 miles of my location. I’m available in the evenings after work for walks, feeding & visits. I'm also happy to water plants, bring in mail, and handle other small house-sitting tasks. I live in a cozy Lakewood duplex on the first floor with a front yard and porch that dogs (including my former dog and the neighbors’ dogs) love to lounge on. I have a yard stake leash available for safe outdoor time. I already have bowls, beds, leashes, and other supplies, so your pup won't need to travel with a pile of gear if you don’t want to. I can board up to two dogs at a time -any size, any friendly mix - but I don't board cats in my home (happy to care for them at yours).

About: I’ve had three dogs of my own over the years, so I know firsthand that dogs aren’t just pets—they’re family. I truly enjoy getting to know each dog’s unique personality, whether they’re energetic and playful, cuddly and calm, or a little shy at first. When your dog is in my care, my goal is to make them feel safe, comfortable, loved, and right at home. I’m attentive to their routines, love giving plenty of playtime and affection, and will treat your pup with the same care I would give my own. You can feel confident knowing your dog is getting both loving attention and dependable care while you’re away. Would love if dog(s) are getting treated regularly for fleas/ticks especially if coming into my home. I currently stay at home all day during the week so I would be able to give full attention to your pets needs. If they’re staying over the weekend I would accommodate my plans to be home while they’re in my care. Your pet(s) would have free range in my first floor apartment townhouse. There is a communal dog park that is walking distance I would take them to only if no one else was there. We have a private community that I would take them on walks throughout the day.

“Madi is great with our dog, Henry! She took wonderful care of him, and when our power went out during a heat wave while she was watching him, she stayed with him to make sure he was safe and comfortable. We really appreciated her responsiveness and the extra care she showed. Henry loves her, and we'd definitely recommend her!”

About: I can show that I am committed to providing the best care for each pet by taking the time to get to know them. I am responsible. I can demonstrate experience by noting the breeds of animals you've cared for, any behavior challenges. Pet care fits well into my daily and weekly routine because I am passionate about caring for animals. I am able to plan my schedule around feeding, walks, potty breaks, playtime, and giving pets the attention and care they need. I enjoy spending time with animals and can provide consistent, loving care while keeping pet parents updated.🐾 I provide loving, reliable care for every pet as if they were my own. Depending on the service, I follow each pet’s normal routine, including feeding, potty breaks, walks, playtime, and giving them plenty of attention and affection. I also make sure they have fresh water and a clean, safe environment. I am experienced with dogs and always pay close attention to their individual needs, personality, and comfort. I will also provide regular updates and photos so pet parents can feel comfortable knowing their pet is being well cared for.🐾
“Jeannie was absolutely amazing! She watched our three pups—Lulu, Whiskey, and Indie—and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. From the very beginning, her communication was thoughtful and consistent. She kept us updated with tons of photos and videos, which made us feel completely at ease while we were away. Each of our dogs has their own personality, and Jeannie gave them all the love and attention they needed. It was clear she truly cared for them like they were her own. We came home to happy, relaxed dogs—and that’s the best feeling in the world! We would 100% book with Jeannie again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, attentive, and kind to care for their pets. Thank you, Jeannie! P.S. she makes one heck of a banana blueberry muffin 😊”

About: Hello! I am an animal lover who has multiple years of care experience. I have a puppy so I am aware of the special care needs they may have. I also specialize in cats. In my spare time I love to exercise, so I would love to take your pup on a long walk! I love animals, so rest assured your friend will be in loving, caring hands when you are away! Carrie was great with our Gilbert, she stayed over our place with him overnight while we were out of town! He still has puppy golden energy & can be hyper at times. She was very patient with him & updated us frequently with photos as well. I would highly recommend her to care for your fur babies!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Berea walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Berea maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Berea choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
