“Sarah took amazing care of my 16 year old dog for 4 days. She followed all instructions and kept me updated with videos! She also left my house cleaner than I left it! Would highly recommend her!”

“Lori was fantastic! We felt good leaving our 3 large dogs with her for a weekend in our home. She kept us updated and informed on their eating, potty, and medication schedule. We also came home to a clean house and the sheets where she slept were already washed. We absolutely recommend Lori!!”

“Tabbi was great with my little Nahla! Everything was left just as it was when I left you could hardly tell she was there 😀 Will definitely book with her again.”

“Owen took great care of Mason! He communicated well throughout the stay and sent plenty of pictures and updates, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. Mason was happy and well cared for when I returned. We would definitely recommend Owen and would be happy to book with him again.”

“We are so happy to have had Konnie care for our 2 dogs while we were away for 5 days. She sent wonderful pictures every day and we could tell that “the girls” were having a good time. Konnie also updated us daily about what the girls were up to. We would definitely recommend Konnie to anyone for excellent pet care. Thank so much, Konnie! Hope to hire you again in the future!”

About: Just arrived in northeast Ohio for graduate school starting fall 26. Let me walk your dog for you. Cat sitting too. Jesey is open for business throughout the 26/27 School year! Proud roommate to the most perfect kitty ever created, friend of all things furry (or furless), and middle school music teacher. For over 10 years I have been taking care of delicate cats, big Australian shepherds, hyper Siberian husky puppies, grumpy felines, potbelly pigs, and everything in between. In the past I have slept over at a client's house to ensure that the little buddy gets let out, fed, etc. whenever they need to. I feel comfortable taking dogs out for evening/night walks, if your pet is a night owl. I love playing at the park or in the backyard, so let me hang out with your pet! I have worked with pets with allergies, dietary restrictions, and other various conditions. I have given cats and dogs their medicine in many different forms,(pills, oral liquid, injection, etc.) and am comfortable doing so. I'm working part time, so I will have plenty of time to take care of your beasts. Typically visit in the morning before 11am, and after 6pm for the evening. I care for everyone's pet like my own. Fresh water, food, litter, and lots of love every visit. skreet skreet pow skreet CRASH plop whoosh
“Tara did an excellent job housesitting and petsitting our German shorthair dog, Sage. She was very responsive and we loved the pictures and numerous updates throughout the day, it made us feel so at ease and assured that our dog was in good hands! We have already booked her for another date. Thank you, Tara!”

“Abby was able to fill in for us at the last second. She is kind, sweet and treats your home as it’s your own! Our dog Wrigley warmed up to her very quickly. Abby sent updates throughout the night as well! We highly recommend Abby for all of your needs!”

“Cheyenne was so wonderful! She has such a sweet and caring spirit. She met my pups for the first time and sat with them and let them come to her. We got photos and videos from her everyday while we were away. She went above and beyond to make sure they ate, because they were having a little separation anxiety. She swapped out their bedding and bagged everything neatly. She even brought in one of my delivery packages. I'll definitely use her again! You should too!”

“Ally is the best ! From the time she arrived our pup loved her! Ally took her on walks, sent photos and video and the communication was perfect! When my dog is calm and relaxed, we know she had a fantastic day. Would highly recommend using Ally!”

“Rebecca was wonderful with our Yorkie, Hoagie. She watched him in our home over the New Year holiday. We especially liked her detailed daily updates and photos. The messages reassured us that Hoagie was happy while we were away and confirmed that he was adjusting to Rebecca as a trusted caregiver.”

“Great communication! ReAna took excellent care of my cat and my place and sent pictures each visit. I really appreciate the check-ins. Would definitely recommend ReAna to anyone as a cat sitter!”

“Katie stayed with our 2 boys without a lot of notice, everything went very smoothly. Our big guy had been having a lot of tummy/health issues recently and she was really good about adjusting diet to try to get him to eat some. Would definitely recommend her for your pets!”

“Dave took the time to meet with my dogs 3 times before coming to house sit for a weekend to make sure both dogs were comfortable with him staying. Dave handled both rescue Germans shepherds greatly! He even came back when my travel plans changed to make sure the dogs got dinner and night time exercise.”

“Nathan did a great job with our labs! He was very responsive, easy to work with, flexible and even handled a misrouted package delivery for us. We were delighted to have his help & really appreciate his availability and fast response.”

“Bryeanna provided excellent care for our 2 dogs in our home. She provided daily updates and was mindful of the extra attention our golden doodle needs as he can very quickly get into things! We will not hesitate to rebook with her in the future!”

About: I've had dogs all my life and I currently have one cat and 11 guinea pigs. I take care of my moms dogs all the time. I'm free all day. I'm an independent contractor so I have all the free time every day all day. I can come by anytime of the day. I will take the utmost care of your pet and will do everything I can to make them feel safe. I love being around animals.
About: I have owned and cared for both dogs and cats throughout my life for extended periods of time. I provide them plenty of loving attention and do all the related chores necessary when caring for them. I am a stay-at-home parent of three cats. However, I am able to leave whenever needed to provide care to other animals, as the other owner of our cats will often be home to continue their care. I care for pets by making sure they eat their tasty meals and treats, keeping them company with playtime and plenty of pets, cleaning up after them on a daily basis, providing them exercise, and anything necessary.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Akron
Five stars for Sarah. Her vetting process was incredible — the questionnaire meant she understood Ali, her routines, and how our house works before she even arrived. Every day she sent actual videos, not just pictures, so I could see how Ali was doing and how relaxed she was. And when we got home, the house was spotless, like she had never even been there. Absolutely outstanding care.

We were nervous about having a pet sitter; but, after meeting Randy, we decided to try it. We are not sorry that we did. He kept in contact with pictures and updates during the week. I could tell the pets were doing fine with him. The house was in great shape and even the yard. We would not hesitate to have him sit again.
Bridget was absolutely amazing, kind, and loving with our anxious girl, Maple. We were nervous to leave Maple while we left the state to visit family, but with having Bridget caring for our dog, those fears were quickly squashed. She provided daily updates and pictures on how things were going, took her for walks, and treated Maple as if she were her own pet. She also took great care of our home, and left a care plan at the end of her stay to give us even more insight into what Maple's days looked like while we were gone. I will 100% be rebooking with Bridget in the future and am so grateful for her!

Jake was the best! I was super nervous to leave my dogs for almost an entire week, especially because one of them has health issues and dog aggression. Jake did a great job reassuring me prior to and throughout my trip that my dogs were in the best of care. He gave regular updates, responded quickly, great communication, brought our mail in, and even left a note welcoming us home. Highly recommend!

This was our first time using Rover. Rebecca, came over to meet our pups and discuss expectations prior too us hiring her. She was very kind and our pups took to her immediately. She stayed in our home for 4 days. She provided updates while we were gone along with pictures. When we arrived home the dogs were very happy and excited. Rebecca took great care of them and our home. It looked exactly as we left it. I will be using Rebecca again for future travel. She did am amazing job.

Mallery was so amazing watching our pets! She watched our dog, Bash, for 11 days in our home and we also had two cats that she loved on and gave lots of attention to as well. She took great care of our home and brought our mail in for us which was so nice! We got updates on the pets while we were gone and when we got home, everyone was happy and healthy and our house was so clean too! Mallery was really amazing and we felt so at ease while we were on vacation knowing she was taking great care of our fur babies. We will definitely have Mallery watch our pets again in the future!!

Scott and Samantha are wonderful and cared for my 7 month old pup like she was their own! I was nervous about having to leave Corvi for a business trip since she is still so young, but they were very communicative and sent a ton of updates and pictures. I came home to a very happy and tired pup! Will DEFINITELY use them again and highly recommend!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Akron on Rover is $51.06 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 1,237 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Akron. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Akron walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Akron maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Akron choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Akron. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
