“Sophia and Andy are awesome. They sent regular updates and pictures of Max while we were away. Both are very experienced and are able to gauge and took really good care of Max. There are very few instances when Max was away from us in past, Sophie and Andy made him comfortable and gave him love, giving us the peace of mind. I highly recommend them and will definitely use them again in the future.”

“Christian was a wonderful boarder! Bear came back home after a weekend stay very happy. Christian had top-notch communication and sent me regular updates. He handled Bear with great care and attention. Would definitely recommend Christian to anybody!”

“Wow! What a great 1st time experience! Ian was nothing short of great to our pup Maverick! Genuinely so caring and attentive! Sent the cutest photos and videos and loved on our golden doodle so well. Highly recommend. Communicative and so responsive 10/10 experience. Thanks Ian.”

“Kae is amazing ! She has extensive knowledge of caring for multiple breeds of dogs. She did well caring for my Pitbull; he enjoyed her spacious back yard. She also sent me a bunch of cute pictures of him enjoying his stay. Will rebook in the future”

“Yuliya is AMAZING! My dogs loved her so much they seconds guessed coming home with me! She is my go to dog sitter and I’m very lucky to have found her on Rover. Thank you for taking such good care of Marcus and Faustina. They’ll be back to stay with you soon!”

“This was our second time leaving our dog Nero with Chad and his wife. Normally he is super anxious about being left behind but was perfectly happy to hop right into their arms at drop off. Received photos/video even though it was a quick 2-nt stay. We know he had fun and was well loved and taken care of.”

“Shirley is super sitter. Sent me cool slo mo vid of my pooch playing tricks. I was traveling thru and wanted to go to show in Chicago. She came to motel and picked up Bella. Highly recommend Shirley !!”

“Adolfo is a top tier sitter! Our dog Aria loves going there and getting to meet and play with the other dogs. Our original sitter was no longer available and I couldn't be happier to have found him. He was super accommodating when Aria had a TPLO surgery last year and helped her with stairs, medication and leg stretches. Aria can't wait to go back!”

“Katarina was so patient with Luna and I appreciated the whole process from the intro to the pick up!! She made me and Luna feel extremely welcomed and shared plenty of pictures. I would absolutely use her again and would recommend! 10 out of 10, no notes!”

“Doug & Deb were very kind to our dog. They had her for 7 days and 8 nights. They were wonderful enough to send pics and updates on our dog. She was well taken care of and they have a nice backyard. We are very satisfied. Highly recommend Doug and Deb!”

“Diana & Scott were wonderful! I felt super comfortable leaving my elderly dog with them and could tell she was very well taken care of! Also they sent great pictures! Would definitely recommend them!”
“Emily was very responsive and kept me up to date on how things were going with lots of pics/videos. It’s our second time booking and feel very confident our dog feels comfortable/safe with her!”

“Lauriann and Sven were wonderful sitters! They sent pictures and updates every day. They made sure my Shar-Pei mix felt comfortable through the rain and fireworks, which she can get anxiety about. I felt so safe leaving her in their care and I would definitely book them again.”

“Shout out to Jasmine! Such a great experience with her! My dog Bulleit is a high-maintenance Border Collie who needs a lot of attention from his humans, so finding the right sitter has always been challenging and honestly gives me a lot of anxiety. And Bulleit said Jasmine is his favorite sitter, since he usually roasts me and barks at me for at least 1mins upon his pickup from daycare/boarding, but this time there’s no complaint🤣 Jasmine made everything so easy for me😭She’s incredibly caring and loving, and she kept me updated on how my dog was doing with lots of cute pictures. You can also tell that she has plenty of experience with different kinds of dogs and really knows how to make them feel comfortable. And doggos don’t lie, you can simply tell from their behavior whether they like their sitter and whether they’ve been treated well. I could tell that my dog felt genuinely happy, comfortable, and secure staying with Jasmine. For the first time, I was actually able to relax while I was away instead of constantly worrying about him. Highly recommend!! ❤️🐶”

“Sky was super responsive and helpful! She was flexible too. She took great care of the pups, which isn’t the easiest with our 14yo yorkie 💙 she played with our energetic Honey and took sweet pictures for us of both. Appreciated her care and will book again when my parents are in town and need a sitter!”

“Beryl was great to work with, and I would definitely want to book her again. She is organized and prompt in her communication and super reliable with rover responsibilities. Plus the dog (s) were a big fan of hers as well. They knew they were safe and well-cared for. Thanks Beryl!”

“Tanqueray was phenomenal with my sweet but anxious older little guy. She took his unique needs into consideration as she thoughtfully planned his stay. He was comfortable and happy, which I knew because he doesn’t usually go up to sitters to say bye when I pick him up. But he did this with her. He made new doggy friends on his walks (which he’s also not always up to) and he and Sir, a sweet little guy, got along wonderfully. I’m grateful for Tanqueray and the loving care she took of my pup.”

“Camille was incredibly kind, patient and understanding not only with calzone (aka cannoli) but also with pick up and drop off times. Her home is beautiful and welcoming and she took calzone on lots of walks. Thank you so much for everything!”

Absolutely amazing Rover! Leaving your pup is always stressful, but Maria made it as easy as possible. Lots of pupdates and, when I had travel delays, she helped navigate the app and was willing to lengthen his stay! Easily the best Rover I have ever had. I cannot recommend Maria enough.

She and her husband were great! They took really good care of my dog, and she sent me pictures throughout the stay, which I really appreciated. I could tell my dog was in good hands, and I’m very happy with the care she received. I would definitely recommend them! 🐶❤️
This is my first time using Rover and I’m happy I gave it a try. Anette and her husband took great care of Kobe, keeping me updated and frequently sending pictures, very responsive and tending to Kobe as if he were their own. I felt a peace of mind while on vacation that Kobe was in good hands. I would certainly recommend Anette and request her again:)

We left our tiny (3.5 lbs) Chihuahua with Michelle and Otavio while we went to Japan for over a month. As soon as we left, he developed an ear infection. Michelle reached out to me right away to let us know. She made an appointment with our regular vet, took him to her (even though she is an hour away), and then gave him his medication for seven days. This is our third time having Michelle and Otavio watch Emerson. They’ve always taken such good care of him, I was not worried at all. The way they addressed this health issue was so impressive, I definitely hope to keep working with them in the future!

We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter! From the very beginning, he was kind, professional, and incredibly caring with our dogs. He kept us updated every day with pictures and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was obvious that our dogs were happy, comfortable, and receiving lots of love and attention. His communication was outstanding, and he always responded quickly to any questions we had. We are so grateful for the excellent care he provided and will definitely book with him again in the future. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, reliable, and who truly loves animals, we highly recommend him!

Colleen and her family did a fantastic job sitting for our pup (8mo doodle). We met her in advance so our dogs could test it out. This was a new experience for both of us so it was great that they were willing to meet in advance. The home and backyard provide a very dog friendly space. Family is very friendly and great with dogs. I received daily photos and little updates on how things were going.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
