“Matthew was a lifesaver for me and my little one. Pinch hit at the last minute when her other Rover had a family emergency. He sent lots of updates and was very communicative. Would definitely book Matthew again!”

“Roman was Charise’s first ever Rover dog and we were really happy to have connected with her for our 5-day trip. Charise was a great sitter—she sent detailed updates about how Roman was doing with Navi and hope he was settling in while we were away. Her home is very clean and Charise is a very warm and welcoming host. Navi is just the cutest little nugget ever, and I could tell immediately Roman would feel right at home with Charise. Our big GSD is a big baby and throws a bit of a fit every time we leave, but Charise and Navi were patient with him while he warmed up to the idea of us being away—by the time we returned, he was fully integrated into their little family. Roman is allowed on the couch and bed for cuddles, and Charise has a full basement for the dogs to run around and play, a small yard, and she takes them together on long walks. Roman came home fully pooped from a week of playing with Navi and we’ll definitely be using Charise in the future!”

“First timer to book through Rover and it was a smashing success! Juliet seemed well cared for and entertained while her family left her for a long weekend. I would definitely book with John again. I think that Juliet got to hang with another dog put her at ease in a new home. And loved that we received periodic photos of her enjoying her vacation. Thank you!”

“Nic took such good care of Bailey! Nic was so responsive, sent so many pictures, and was so sweet! Bailey got so much love and went on so many walks! I would recommend Nic to anyone and everyone!”

“We love Cheryl! Cheryl is my go-to sitter for my two pups. My girls are very different (one senior, one young & rambunctious!) and Cheryl's house is perfect for both of them. I love the convenience of dropping off without packing up all the things!! I have, and will, book with Cheryl over and over and would recommend her to anyone!”
“Po came home tired and happy - positive indicators that Jamie was a fantastic sitter. Jamie also sent multiple videos of Po and her dog Moon playing throughout the day which were wonderful to see. Will definitely be bringing Po back to Jamie 😊”

“Ruben was fantastic! We will definitely book again asap. He provided tons of updates on our dog, Ziggy, and made sure he felt comfortable. He was extremely flexible with our schedule and responsive! I am usually hesitant to leave Ziggy with new sitters but I knew right away that he was in great hands with Ruben. I’m sure he had a blast and looks forward to going back! Thank you Ruben!”

“Jack had another great stay with Brian. We can tell from photos how much Jack loves being in Brian's backyard. Thanks for taking great care of Jack and giving him plenty of outdoor time!”

“Tammy was an amazing care giver to my pup! Excellent communication and my gal was soooooo happy when I picked her up…I could tell she had a great weekend with Tammy at her place. My dog is a “Velcro dog” and will stick to you, which made Tammy and her home ideal for the kind of care that was needed. Stilly will definitely be back for more sleepovers.”

“Gabriela and Richard were so kind and sweet with my toy poodle! They even took her on little adventures to get doggie ice cream and nice walks around the neighborhood, aside from plenty of outside time in their own fenced-in backyard! Gabriela was super great about texting updates and super cute pics of my girl! And they even got her to eat a good bit while I was away even though she usually tries to go on a hunger strike in my absence. Gabriela met us for like 15 mins at the local park before boarding and got to know my dog and garner some info from me, which I really appreciated and not a lot of boarders do that! My girl was very happy when I picked her up and I would absolutely rebook Gabriela and Richard! Highly recommend!”

“Jasmin was fantastic and took care of our dog super well. She was very fast to respond and quick to send a picture to update us on him. We could not recommend her enough, he came home and couldn’t stay awake from all the love and attention he clearly got. We will 100% be using her again in the future.”

“Bailey is a caring, knowledgeable and experienced pet owner and caretaker. Freddy was well-cared for and I was sent several photos during the day to let me know how he was doing. Bailey was sensitive in incorporating Freddy into her pack of two dogs. I felt very comfortable and confident that Freddy was well cared for. Thank you!”

“Katherine and her partner did a wonderful job taking care of my Aegon and I'd be delighted to have him stay there again! Cuddles and trips to the dog park, frequent communication and even a stuffy that my pup loved while he was there to take home! A great relief to have my boy cared for while I was away.”

About: I am a sound healer, wife, mother to my toddler and animals. My husband is a city of chicago worker and we love the chicago area :) We are very active and love to go on long walks and love being outside with our dogs! I absolutely adore cats and love to spend time feeding the feral cats in my neighborhood. In my spare time I also love to go to the local park with my daughter to watch the squirrels and birds. I love nature. I am good with all types of animals and they love me! We have 2 dogs and 3 cats, and some chickens in our backyard. Our dogs are very friendly and love making new friends whenever they can. I truly love watching and meeting new animals and enjoy this type of work. Your pet will love and I cannot wait to meet and take care of them. Please reach out so I can help you with your pet needs! My schedule is open and flexible. My sound healing job varies but typically does not get in the way of pet sitting/ dog walking. Most days I am at home with my toddler or we are out exploring the parks. We have many pets in our home that we care for. I love to work with lists to help me to ensure all tasks are completed and that I am organized.
“Christine did an amazing job caring for my senior dog. He does need extra patience and attention, and she provided just that. She kept me updated on his daily activities, giving me great peace of mind while I was away.”

“Stacy and her family were amazing hosts for my pooch Vinny. Super thoughtful, pictures every day, and their house is set up perfectly to watch my Aussie. We will use them again when we are out of town!”

“Emma was able to take my dog for several days at the last minute and saved my weekend trip! She was great at communicating and did an excellent job. She was able to administer my dogs anxiety medication and he was very comfortable with her. Highly recommend!”

“Couldn’t ask for a better sitter or boarder for our dog. And that means a lot because we are very picky when it comes to our dog. Kind, thorough, responsive, and actually cares about our dog!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Oak Park
Colleen and her family did a fantastic job sitting for our pup (8mo doodle). We met her in advance so our dogs could test it out. This was a new experience for both of us so it was great that they were willing to meet in advance. The home and backyard provide a very dog friendly space. Family is very friendly and great with dogs. I received daily photos and little updates on how things were going.

Beryl was great to work with, and I would definitely want to book her again. She is organized and prompt in her communication and super reliable with rover responsibilities. Plus the dog (s) were a big fan of hers as well. They knew they were safe and well-cared for. Thanks Beryl!

Katalina and her partner were extremely nurturing, kind, patient, and very intentional with our Milo! They kept communication throughout their time with him, sending me pictures and updates. I have had multiple families watch our little guy and I have never had such a wonderful experience. Thank you so much.

Bailey took wonderful care of our 12 year old dog Abby, going above and beyond to be sure Abby felt safe and comfortable. Bailey is well versed in the needs of older dogs and we were so appreciative of her efforts to be sure Abby ate (she is a fussy eater) and got lots of exercise (Abby loves to walk). We hope to book time Abby to stay with Bailey during our next trip out of town and recommend Bailey as with great enthusiasm and no hesitations. Thank you Bailey!

Haylee did a great job with my cat. Puss, my cat, came home so chill I was surprised as it usually takes Puss a moment to decompress after coming home from a cat-sitter, she usually hides under the bed after she gets home. But, this time she merely ran towards the bedroom then came right back out and acted like her normal cat-self right away, I don't even think she (Puss) was mad at me (she has gotten mad at me in the past for leaving her somewhere else:) It seems she has gotten lots of cuddles while with Haylee. Haylee was nice, sweet, responsible and flexible when I ran a bit late picking Puss up. I definitely will leave Puss with her again next time. Thank you, Haylee!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
