10/10 Ren took excellent care of the fur babies and left the house uncannily like she found it (maybe cleaner??). She followed instructions to the tee, even going above and beyond for the fish, and sent cute pics while we were on vacation. Everybody was fed and cheerful when we arrived home.

Katelyn was very conscientious and followed all instructions to a “T.” I did not have to worry about anything, as she communicated often and asked questions if she was unsure about something. The house was spotless when we returned! I would not hesitate to have her sit our boys again.

We booked Kaylen for house sitting with our two cats and two dogs for a few days while we were out of town and I can’t say enough great things about her! The animals instantly warmed to her and we loved receiving the photo updates each day. She walked the dogs each morning and even gave them a little grooming while we were gone! Truly an overall 10/10 experience and we are so thankful she was available to stay with our pets!

Dani is the best!! She watched our dog at our house for a whole week between Christmas & New Years. She is very reliable and kind! Her communication was great - we received lots of sweet pictures and updates throughout her stay which was such a treat! Our dog immediately took to Dani and they became best friends right away 🥰 It was so nice knowing Winston was in good hands while we were gone. We would absolutely recommend her to take care of your furry loved ones!

About: I've had pets since I was a child and I've always loved them like they were my children. Now I watch my children love our pets! We enjoy having pets in our home to cuddle with, play with and spoil! I am a school teacher with summers off. I am home with my two children from the end of May to the beginning of August. When pets are in our home they are shown loads of attention and love. They have regular potty breaks and have a big fenced in yard to play in.

Karen was wonderful with our three hounds. She sat with them at our house for 9 days and wasn’t fazed by their mischief. She sent many photos and videos and asked questions when they were not acting usual. We felt so much better as it was during a very cold storm and we knew they were safe.

Christiana went above and beyond caring for our 15 yo Havanese. She was tasked with caring for an elderly dog with a slew of meds and strict feeding regimen. Not to mention giving my high anxiety dog a ton of attention. She stayed at our house, and when we got back, our house was cleaner than when we left it. She sent me updates daily and even left us a family gift. She made leaving town easier, and because of her I was able enjoy a nice family vacation with our college boys. I will be booking her again! Thank you Christiana!

Kathleen is a gem!! She stayed at our home for 10 nights with our 2 dogs. She sent pictures each morning and asked questions when she had any. Our home was in tip top shape when we returned and all instructions were followed perfectly. And most importantly our doggies were super happy and relaxed. I think they miss her ❤️ We’ll happily use her again!

About: Hi there! I have lots of experience caring for pets ranging from my own pets to shadowing at veterinary clinics in the DFW area. I am happy to help with walks and check-ins, and I am comfortable working with any breed or species. I have cared for a wide variety of dogs, elderly and young, and can accommodate special needs. For walks I work with owners to establish the safest route according to their pups needs in! For check-ins I can do feedings, administer meds, and play with your pup to make sure they’re happy while you’re away. I currently work full time Monday through Thursday. I can fit in walks and check-ins before and after work on those days, but Friday-Sunday I generally have an open availability for any help you might need. Each animal is different and requires their own unique approach. I try to respect this when establishing a relationship with both owner and pet. For walks and check-ins, I will work with you to make sure I can properly care for your animal! If you are considering boarding please be aware I have 2 dogs and 2 cats of my own and we will need to heavily discuss if everyone can blend together safely!

Alissa was so great with our puppy! We work night shift and she came over and spent time with him while we were at work and our dog absolutely loved her! Our cats also cuddled up to her too. She took him out, sent us pictures, and took him for a walk to get some of that puppy energy out. Would love to use her again in the future. Thanks Alissa! :)

About: I work from home full time and have two cats and dog. I grew up in a home with pets and would love the opportunity to meet some new fur babies. I work from home and have a pretty flexible schedule. I have set my parameters for 15 minute distance from me so that I would be able to make those drop in visits with no problem. I don’t plan to house any pets, but if that should occur I do have a fenced yard and am familiar with crating. I would also only ever be able to take on one at a time because we do have three pets full time.

About: Hello my name is Elain Glenn, I have experience caring for both cats and dogs of different ages, sizes, and personalities. I’m very patient, dependable, and attentive to each pet’s individual needs. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away, so I make sure to give them plenty of attention, playtime, affection, and consistent care. I have experience with feeding routines, walks, administering basic medications, crate training reinforcement, and caring for anxious or shy pets. I’m also comfortable caring for senior pets who may need extra patience and support. My background in social work has helped me become calm, compassionate, and observant, which allows me to build trust with both pets and owners quickly. What sets me apart is that I truly treat every pet like they are my own. I focus on creating a safe, loving, and stress-free environment while keeping owners updated with photos and messages for peace of mind. I am currently in an online masters program so I have a very flexible schedule and can be around quite often to play with your pups! I have a fenced yard and two friendly pups that can keep your pups company. If I am at your house, I will make sure to be there with your pups and follow any home rules that you may have.

FAQs for House Sitting - Northlake

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of June 2026, there are 3,597 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Northlake. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Northlake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Northlake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Northlake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Northlake. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
