“Would highly recommend Maria. She asked a lot of good questions, she was punctual and she sent a lot of updates on how my dogs were doing. Was comforting being away and knowing they were both in great hands. Will definitely reach out to her again when i need a dog sitter.”

“Shannon was a great sitter for our holiday weekend out of town! She is very friendly and responded quickly. She sent a bunch of photos which made us feel more at ease leaving our babies at home. She also helped watering the flowers and garden outside. We are happy with her service and would gladly hire her again.”

“This was our third trip with Nicole staying with our dog Buster, and we could not be happier with her! Buster is a sweet and friendly dog, but he has stomach problems and he also barks a lot. Nicole handles all of this beautifully. I can see on her photos that she has developed quite a relationship with Buster! He likes her and he is his crazy self with her! It is great to leave for a trip with such confidence in a pet sitter!”

“Emma is an incredible dog sitter. She is super confident in taking care of anyone’s dog, no matter what. Our dog is new to the family, so he still has some things to learn, but she had no problem taking care of him in our apartment for three nights. She’s super communicative, and put our minds at ease, since this was our first trip away from him. I would recommend to anyone. Thanks Emma!”

“Nicole took such good care of our two pups! They loved her. She took them on a lot of walks, gave them snuggles and sent us lots of pictures. We will definitely book with her again.”

“Cinthia was amazing. She stayed overnight with my dog at my apartment and was super attentive and sent lots of pictures. She left the apartment very clean and my dog very happy. Nothing but positive things to say.”

About: I have 3 years of pet-sitting experience. Then I took a 2 years gap for traveling and just came back to Greenwich CT in July. That’s why most of my Rover reviews are from 2 years ago. Have experience with all ages pet including oldest 16 years old senior dog to puppies, also cats. I am totally an animal lover and treat them like my own baby. I will update pet parents everyday with pet’s videos. I own a small neutered Maltese boy who’s only 5 lbs. We stay at home the whole time. We promise that we will give the best care to your pets and look after them with patience and love. We send video updates to pet parents everyday. We have big open spaces in our house. There are multiple big lawns and dog parks in the neighborhood. Pets can run freely at home and play safely outside. We will strictly follow feeding and walking schedule you prefer for your pets. Clean them with wet tissues after each walk and send you daily video updates.

“Vlad is absolutely amazing! He’s incredibly accommodating, always willing to help even last minute, and my puppy is completely comfortable with him. I couldn’t ask for a better sitter!”

“Jessica was outstanding. Super friendly during our meet and greet. Our trio of two cats and a pup took to her right away and we never looked back. Jessica sent tons of great updates via cute photos and videos, she left our home in pristine condition and we would gladly ask her to sit with us again without hesitation.”

About: I have hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats of different ages, sizes, and temperaments. My experience includes daily walks, feeding, administering medications, playtime, overnight care, crate training support, and maintaining regular routines to help pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I’m attentive to each pet’s individual needs and personality, whether that means high-energy exercise, extra patience with shy pets, or senior pet care. With an open schedule, I'm able to give pets plenty of attention, consistent care, and flexible availability for last minute walks, drop ins and overnight stays. “We had such an amazing experience with Ashley. She sent great updates and spent quality time with both cats. They clearly loved her. I wasn't worried at all while we were away”

“We came home to two happy and well cared for pups! Our previously booked sitter had to cancel a week before our trip, and we're very grateful to Hanaya for looking after them on such short notice!”

“Anastasia dog sat our dachshund for 2 weeks and I couldn’t have felt more comfortable. She is warm and friendly and a great communicator. She spent a lot of time with our dog during the day which is what we wanted and he actually seemed tired when we returned which was a relief and we were happy he wasn’t in his crate for long stretches. Our dog really loved her and I loved getting pictures of them snuggling on the couch. I was able to relax and not worry about his care and him being left in crate unstimulated for most of our time away which made me so happy. Our dog can be nervous at first with new people and she patient with him. Highly recommend and will use again!”

“This was our first time using Kat and she was a wonderful dog sitter! She focused on Irie, took great care to remember our specific instructions, and asked just the right questions, and we felt very comfortable leaving him in her care. We look forward to working with Kat often in the future. :-)”

About: For starters, I have had animals (of all kinds) for as long as I can remember. In 2020, the peak of COVID, I was blessed with my pup, Piper. I have had her since she was about 8 weeks and now, she's six! I have had a great deal of experience with puppies, as well as older pups who may need oral or injectable medication. I would love the opportunity to care for your fur babies! I am fortunate enough to work from home, so that leaves my days/weeks extremely flexible! I am mostly a homebody and don't do much during the weekdays/weekends. I do also attend classes online finishing my pre-med which is an important focus of mine right now! I have a perfect fur baby to keep your fur baby company. If you would prefer me to stay or visit your fur baby in your home, I am also more than happy to do so! Of course, we can do a meet & greet prior!
About: Hello! My name is Lexi and I can help provide your furry friend some extra attention! I just recently moved to Stamford, CT. I’ve looked after tons of different doggies primarily Shih tzu’s, Yorkie’s and Labs! I also love cats and have looked after many. I work fully remote so I’m free over lunch hours, early mornings and evenings and weekends! I work from home 9-6 Monday-Friday but more than happy to walk over lunch, flexibility varies day to day. I am comfortable house sitting any day of the week too! Looking forward to meeting your pup! I am currently working from home Monday-Friday so I love to get out and walk when I can so your doggie might as well get their exercise with me! I would love to give your pup the extra love and attention while you’re away! I provide a caring and loving space and try to make them feel as comfortable as they can.
“Nicole is kind, generous, caring and responsible. She is also very responsible and willing to do what it takes to be the star sitter that she is. It really doesn’t get better than that!”

“I cannot recommend Melanie enough. She looked after our senior dog while we were on an extended trip overseas. I received numerous photographs of him looking healthy, happy and loved, and his affection for her was obvious on our return home. Melanie kept our house immaculate and also maintained good contact with us while we were away. She is extremely responsive to emails, punctual, and has an excellent work ethic. I felt extremely comfortable while away knowing Chessie was in her care. THANK YOU!!!!”

I am simply amazed at the care that Chris gave to my 2 havanese dogs and 2 kitty’s. It was beyond my expectations. Not only is he a fabulous person himself but he takes care of not only your pets but your home as well. Five stars does not explain his level of service. 10000 out of 10. Chris is truly one of a kind. He is simply fantastic ❤️

Shannon is a responsible, kind and trustworthy caretaker of Ziggy, our doodle. She was very attentive of Ziggy, helpful in preparing his meals (which involves cooking), and sent me plenty of updates. Ziggy is not a dog who trusts easily, but he loved Shannon from the get go. Shannon stayed at my house for a few nights and was a lovely house guest. I am relieved to have found her and cannot say enough great things about her!

Alexa was so communicative and attentive. Our pups loved having her stay with them. Even in an emergency, Alexa cared for our pups in the same way we would have and it made us feel better knowing they were being taken such good care of. Will absolutely be using her services in the future!

If you want to leave your dogs with someone and never worry at all about their mental well-being, their feeding needs, their exercise then you need to hire Jesse as your sitter. He's taken my care of my dogs for many days and I will say there is no better. Not only were my dogs, completely relaxed and happy, but my house was also immaculate and every instruction was followed to the tee, including the complicated medical things that one of my dog needs to have followed. Jesse is all around the best I've had!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Northfield on Rover is $77.78 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Northfield walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Northfield maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Northfield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Northfield. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
