“So great. This was the first pet sitter I’d hired and she did amazing with our older cat. She gave her pills and so many cuddles while we were out of town. I also appreciated all the Rover cards, updates, and great communication. When we go out of town again, Maddie will be the first person I contact.”

“Nicole was great! Responsive, flexible, and reliable! Was such a relief knowing our 4 cats were well taken care of while we were out of town.”

About: I’ve been around animals my entire life and have experience caring for both small and large dogs, as well as cats. I’ve also worked with many animals through volunteer work and grew up spending time around animals on farms. Whether it’s walking, feeding, bathing, playing, or simply spending quality time together, I approach every animal with patience, care, and respect. I understand that every pet has their own personality and routine, and I’m happy to adjust my care to help them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. As a college student, I have a flexible schedule that gives me plenty of availability for pet care throughout the week. I’m available for weekday and weekend visits and can often accommodate mornings, afternoons, and evenings depending on the day. I genuinely love being around animals, so pet care is something I enjoy fitting into my everyday routine. I’m comfortable caring for pets with different personalities, routines, and needs. I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully and prioritize each pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness. I’m respectful of your home and your pet’s normal routine, and I’ll keep you updated with messages and photos so you can feel confident that your pet is happy and well cared for.

“We are so impressed with Chandler and the care she provided for our puppy! She was kind, great with communication, and flexible with us adding a last minute third visit to her schedule. We will definitely be using her services again when we need it next!”

About: Hi, I’m Zack! I’m a local Licensed Massage Therapist with a passion for animals of all shapes and sizes. I have a small dog, two cats and a ball python! I’ve grown up around animals my whole life and pride myself on having an eye for detail and providing a safe space full of love and affection. I am lucky enough to have a variable work schedule which gives me mornings, evenings and sometimes mid-day opportunities to care for my pets - and yours! I understand that trust and boundaries are of the utmost importance to animals. My goal is to provide a safe, loving and caring environment for them.
“Joann is a caring and professional pet sitter. I trust her completely to care for my dogs and my home. She had good communication both before and during her stay. She is a true dog lover and our fur babies were doted on while we were away. I would highly recommend Joann for pet and/or house sitting.”

About: I have had pets my whole life and have been trusted to care for the pets of friends and neighbors for everything from training and socializing to full time care during vacation. I’m currently working but will have all mornings, evenings, and weekends to care for your furry family. I can also drop in during lunch to make sure your pet gets time to stretch their legs. I pet sit frequently for friends and neighbors, always being mindful of the trust it takes to let someone into your home and care for the pets they love so much. I’m happy to send updates and adorable photos of your furry friends while you’re away.
“Kylee was a WONDERFUL Rover sitter! She was on time based on our agreement every day, she treated my pup like her own, and sent the best pictures! I will definitely book her again! (Once Coronavirus allows me to get back to business as usual).”
“I’ve used Rover as a caretaker but never as a pet parent before and Jake calmed all my nerves! He kept me updated with pictures and notes about how Obie was doing in my absence. Seeing Obie warm up to Jake and become friends was so sweet. I’ll use him again in the future.”

About: I got my first family dog when I was in middle school, no professional experience but I know to handle and care for dogs, wanting to gain some professional experience I currently work part time, about 30 hours a week. Weekday evenings after 5, Friday afternoons/evenings, and weekends are free! Looking to help with short term dog care as I gain experience in pet care. “Luz is amazing. She took really great care of my cats. She is quick to respond to messages, and always sends great pics and videos. She went above and beyond when I ran out of cat food. She purchased more food to get my cats through the last day. I appreciate her actions so much. I will definitely be using her services again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Mission Woods
Ron was absolutely wonderful with our senior dogs, Buddy and Darla! He took such great care of them over the weekend and made sure to give us updates and pictures. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands and being well cared for. We truly appreciate the love and attention he gave them and would highly recommend Ron to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy pet sitter. We will definitely book with him again!

Absolute perfection! Crissy watched my two kittens for 3 weeks and I could not have asked for a better Rover experience. I’m so grateful for the peace of mind she afforded me while traveling - via consistent updates and wonderful photos that showed how happy and relaxed my kittens were. Crissy was great and super prompt with communication. I will absolutely be booking again and cannot recommend her highly enough! 5/5 stars!

Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of Marci, Chandler! Knowing you were popping in three times a day and being so reliable brought me total peace of mind. The regular photo updates were fantastic and made me feel so connected while I was away. I truly appreciate your exceptional care 🧡

Jennifer and her husband watched our cats while we were on our honeymoon for two weeks and did a fantastic job. They sent us thorough updates each day and gave our problem cat his pill each morning. They followed instructions perfectly, played with them, cleaned up nicely, and gave us peace of mind while we were gone. This was our first time booking with them and would do it again in a heartbeat. We appreciate the care you provided to our boys! Thank you!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
