“Esteban is so fabulous. Super kind and friendly - our dog is all wagging tail when Esteban shows up. Would highly recommend him and plan to use him again and again!”

About: Growing up my family was very conscientious about teaching me to care for our dogs responsibly. I have been taking care of dogs since I was in my early teens, including pet sitting for neighbors and friends, and I have also been a friend/ owner to cats, rabbits and birds. My dog of 5 years, Master, is the second dog I've trained since puppyhood and she's a beloved member of our household and neighborhood. She has physical disabilities related to surviving distemper, and through her care I've gained a lot of knowledge & experience about supporting disabled dogs. I welcome the additional needs & occasional challenges that caring for disabled dogs can sometimes present. :) I work part time and am a part time student. I intentionally structure my work in a way that allows flexibility in my schedule- creating the opportunity to maximize daylight playtime hours, or adjust to your schedule if you're someone who also has complex scheduling needs! Aside from my (modest) weekly in person class schedule, I'm open to working with you and meeting your needs. I do not currently offer boarding, as I live in a shared cooperative house. To offer some background nonetheless: My dog and I live with one other dog- at times there have been up to 3 dogs total and 2 cats in the home, living harmoniously :) My dog is extremely comfortable, friendly and playful with cats and other dogs. She has a great relationship with the other humans in our home and we maintain a comfortable, consent- and boundary- focused dialogue about dog care (and an understanding that pet care is a significant responsibility) , which my housemates offer support with almost every single day :) In your home- I generally defer to what is the most comfortable/ familiar for your pet, or in keeping with the current training & routines you have established. I'm comfortable with administering additional care (ie meds, specific routines around feeding/ outings etc). If you happen to be in the process of implementing new training *that you have already established with your pet* I'm happy to work toward those goals in the time I spend with your pet and/ or in your home.
“My 80 lb American Staffy Mix adored Todd - and Todd was 100% considerate, knowledgeable, and confident with understanding how to interact and read dogs - which I adored! If you need someone to help with your pup - look no further than Todd. ?”

About: I offer pet sitting for puppies, senior dog, cats and any animals you may have. I have the most experience with older dogs and the accommodations they need. I’m also a dedicated house sitter and can take care of your home while your away. I’ll bring in your mail, make your house look occupied and water your plants. I have the utmost respect for others belongings and I go the extra mile to make sure that your home is clean when you return. I can provide references from clients I have worked for for five+ years. Once I pet sit for a client they continue to use my services for years to come. Pet sitting is my dream job. I get to spend time with animals and watch Netflix at the same time. It’s a win win for me!
About: I’ve grown up around cats and dogs my whole life, and currently have 2 kitties at home. I love getting to know each animal, and experiencing the cuddles and love each have to give. One of my favorite times of day is playtime- I feel like they always come alive and it’s so fun to be a part of. I have also done a lot of overnight cat/ house sitting as well! I’m currently working part-time and have a few other side gigs, so this works into my routine perfectly! I love the flexibility of pet sitting. I know that some animals especially cats are more sensitive than others, and I like to give them plenty of grace and space to get to know me and become comfortable with me. I know animals are all unique with their personalities and limits and I always try to respect what they show me they are okay with. I am comfy with daily visits and also overnight stays.
About: I hang out with cats pretty often and would love to spend more time with them! My friend loves my cat sitting so much that she flies me out to Seattle just to catsit! I have a pretty flexible day job and have time to look after pets. I usually like to do drop-ins around midday or later. Weekends work too! I am very respectful of others' homes and love to send pictures of pets to their owners because I know how much they miss their fur babies!
“Jay is great with my little guy and he just loves the special attention he receives. Jay has been walking Chipper for a few months and he looks forward to his daily walks! Knowing that he is well cared for and spoiled while I am at work is such a relief.”
About: I enjoy providing personalized service, especially if it involves having fun. I grew up with animals. Pet care has been a part of my life for 8 years. My goal is to engage and exhaust, because happy dogs are tired dogs. Long-lasting relationships build trust, you deserve a trustworthy care provider. When choosing to rebook, as others have, you're developing a long-term relationship. Dogs give me a consistent schedule and I enjoy their company. My family and I are home all day. My schedule revolves around the dog's needs. I follow owner instructions and reinforce training. Limiting interactions with strangers decreases the possibility of accidents. Making the decision that guarantees safety is always my first choice.

“Christine was absolutely amazing with my very shy/anxious dog. She was patient and gentle with her during the first meeting, and she was available last minute. Definitely recommend!”

About: Hello! My name is Jason, and I love dogs! My wife and I are both self employed and therefore home for most of most days, so your dog would very rarely be left alone. When that is the case though, our extremely friendly female dog Ripley is great company! Exercise is a priority around here! I live super close to the lake and we definitely take advantage of that on a regular basis. I have a fenced in yard and plenty of tennis balls! While I love puppies, (who doesn't?) I also have a special place in my heart for senior dogs, and am well versed in administering meds if necessary. I've also worked as an EMT and believe in high standards of care, but mostly in having fun. I recently reinstated my account which is why i do not have a recent review, but nothing has changed since last time! I would love to hangout for your dog(s) anytime! We are self employed and home most of the time, so it's generally easy to give as many potty breaks or attention that your baby may need whenever! Hugs, treats, toys, tug, fetch, cuddles and general attentive care catered to each individual dog- we're all different afterall For your peace of mind we will obviously provide regular photos and updates!
About: I'm Carolina, a botanist based in Oakland, originally from Brazil. I grew up around living things and have spent years learning how to actually care for them - not just keep them alive, but pay attention to what they need. I have two cats, Basil and Sage, so my home is already a pet home. I've been walking dogs and caring for animals for friends and family since I was a teenager, in Brazil and here in the Bay Area. I've handled training, medications, and senior animals. What I offer isn't a template. I notice when something's off, when an animal wants more space or more closeness, and I adjust. Your pet gets specific attention, not just a checked box. I work a flexible schedule and keep my calendar updated. I respond within a few hours and I'm consistent about communication. If anything comes up with your pet while you're away, you'll hear from me right away. My apartment in Oakland is calm and low-key. Basil and Sage are friendly and used to meeting new animals. There's a designated spot to sleep, toys, and a fenced yard. I follow your instructions - feeding schedule, medications, routines - and I send photo updates so you're not left wondering how things are going.
About: I've grown up with pets (i.e. dog, cat, hamster, bird) for most of my life. I had a rescue family dog for over 10 years and my own pet cat for 3 years yrs before moving to CA. I've pet say for over 30 dogs and more cats than I can count, along with occasional reptiles, rodents and even chickens. I know how to read animals and build their trust so that they feel safe and loved. I'm a social worker for my day job and I enjoy being able to care for pets part-time as well. I live walking distance from Lake Merritt, which is perfect for walks. I'm very responsible and I love taking pet pictures, so you can be sure to get as many updates from me as you'd like. Know that I'll care for your pet as if they were my own😊! I know all the right questions to ask to ensure that I know the ins and outs before committing to the care of your pet(s). Lmk if you have any questions. Looking forward to meeting you and your pet soon!
“I met Zohra so she could walk my dog, Benny, during the day. She’s been great! My dog loves her, she’s always on time and is very respectful of my home and care instructions. I’d recommend her to anyone needing help with their pet!”

About: Hello! I've been pet-sitting professionally since September 2023 and have done walks, drop-in visits, and house-sitting for dogs and cats of various ages, sizes, temperaments, and medical needs. This includes caring for senior dogs who need mobility assistance and have a hard time hearing and seeing. I also volunteered at my local animal shelter during college, where I had weekly shifts walking, playing with, and socializing dogs in the shelter. Additionally, I have experience caring for my own pet rats, and others' rodents and reptiles (rabbit, guinea pigs, and bearded dragons). With clear instructions from you, I would love to care for any rodents, reptiles, amphibians, or birds as well! You can list these animals as "Cats" within your Rover profile. I have a 30 hour/week job in libraries and I work pet-care into my off-days, or before/after a work shift. I recently adopted my own cat, so I will mostly be offering drop-in visits and dog walks, but will be available for 1-3 night housesits. Let me know you and your pet's schedule and needs, and we can see if we're a good match! I like to get to know you and your pet before caring for them in order to make sure we’re a good fit (so, I do require a Meet & Greet before booking). Whether they're an energetic dog who will want a high energy walk, or a shy cat who might take some time getting used to a stranger, I want your pets to feel safe, cared for, and happy. Please note: I have a severe peanut allergy so if feeding your dog peanut butter or peanut treats is a big part of their routine, I won't be able to provide those foods, but if they can go without while in my care, that's okay!
About: Hi! My name is Viola - I live in Oakland and I will look after your cat or dog! I have taken care of cats and dogs all my life - I treat your pet like they are my family! I have significant experience caring for cats and understand their personalities so well! I frequently cat-sit for the neighbors in my building and have checked on 5 different cats in one weekend! If you have a dog that is high energy, I'm happy to take them on runs! I'm very active and enjoy walking, hiking, and running with dogs. I live and work close to parks, dog parks, and open spaces where your dog can get all the socialization and exercise they need. Please let me know if you have a unique schedule, I can always try to accommodate! I work from home so my schedule is more flexible. Checking on your pet is a nice break in my routine and something I look forward to! Your pet(s) will get all the attention and feel loved and cared for while I’m with them. Your home will definitely be in safe hands!
Merritt dog parents share their Rover experiences
We have used Laura's services many times and couldn't be happier. She is a bit more expensive than other folks on Rover but definitely worth it. She is super responsive, completely reliable and has consistently shown ownership and care for items outside of just taking care of our dog when we have been out of town.
Stephenie is an amazing dog walker and I highly recommend her! Chiyo loves going on walks and gets very excited when she sees Stephenie, she waits by the door anticipating her walks. Stephenie is quick to respond, flexible, easy to work with, and experienced handling animals. We love her!

Christine is just the best! Great communication, always reliable and goes above and beyond. Our little fur baby just loves when Christine visits and it’s obvious how much care and love she brings to taking care of Chloe when we’re away. We can’t recommend Christine strongly enough.
