I like big dogs and I cannot lie!
I grew up with all kinds of family pets-cats, dogs, horses-and got the real crash course in pet parent responsibility when I adopted my own puppy at 17. Since moving to Oakland 10 years ago, I’ve been lucky to live with several cats and dogs of roommates of all dispositions (both the roommates and their pets) and now my fiancée and I have a perfect baby angel cat son. Sadly, my lease does not allow dogs, but I spent the last six years working at a brewery-which meant getting to spend time with lots of dog regulars. Since taking a break from the industry I have to get my four-legged fix somewhere! Big, dopey floofs and sweet Pitties speak to my heart the most, but I'm charmed by all breeds, especially the lil scrappy guys. Having wrestled kegs for many years, I am physically capable of managing most large breed dogs. I’m comfortable with puppies and I don’t mind them being mouthy or jumpy and am happy to discourage unwanted behaviors according to their training. I’ve got a soft spot for seniors, having had experience with palliative care for two beloved senior dogs that required extra care and physical assistance. I am happy to show your old buddy patience and TLC.

I have a keen attention to detail and an above average ability to follow instructions, and I’m happy to do things your way. Knowing it can be a source of worry to have a sitter in your personal space, I take extra care to treat not only pets but folks' homes the way I would want mine to be treated and cared for. My general rule of thumb is "how would I want someone to treat my dog?" and "what if their mom/dad was watching us right now?!" with pet-safety as my number one priority. On walks I am vigilant in keeping an eye out for off leash dogs, careless drivers and general hazards. I carry water and stick to the shady side of the streets to keep everyone cool and comfortable, and have pepper spray on my walking pack as an additional safety measure for both myself and your pet. Understanding every dog is unique, my default is to practice loose leash walking techniques, avoid yanking collars/harnesses and give lots of verbal affirmations and encouragement to employ corrective actions.

Jerri was very comfortable with our 2 big dogs greeting har at the door. They can be a bit overwhelming, but she handled their attention. She provided along walk for our husky and was very confident and personable.
Jeri is an extremely capable and compassionate pet caretaker. She has a clear love for animals and has great attention to detail, which gives me such peace of mind. I always know my baby boy will be well taken care of when I leave him in Jeri's care!

Schedule
I’m currently on a long break from full time work and have open week day availability for walks and visits, and can be available weekends with extended notice
