“Esteban quickly became my puppy's very best friend (I hope my kids don't see this). My puppy returns from walks and passes out for hours. Esteban is reliable and my puppy is always excited to go on their walks. He also communicates well and gives great updates on any activity from the walk.”

“Jay is the best with my two pups! super accommodating with my odd schedule, communicative and gets the best photos of them having a good time. Having jay has been a life saver for when I have to be in the office!”

“Christine is detail-oriented and incredibly caring in her approach! She was communicative throughout, asked good questions as needed, and took extra care to ensure my dog Ellie trusted her and had a good time. An excellent helping hand!”

“Jazminn is great! Rilo has so much fun on her walks. I really appreciate how well Jazminn communicates. Her updates are helpful in that she lets me know if she and Rilo need anything for the walks. I really appreciate that. I feel very secure in knowing that my senior pup Rilo is in experienced hands.”

About: My family’s had 2 Havanese dogs a little over 3 years now and I take care of them regularly when they go out for the night or leave town. In addition I occasionally sit for family friends who have a Yorkie and used to watch a neighbor’s cat when she was still with us. Most animals find me agreeable and I try to be consistent and loving with any younger ones so that they’re shaped into the best possible pets. I’ve recently left my long-term job to focus on watching/walking pets. I do some gig work to make ends meet but my main passion right now is animal care. I have a spacious loft apartment in Chinatown Oakland in a very safe neighborhood just a few minutes walk from Lake Merritt. Crating (with one provided for me) in the apartment is an option as well as my sectional couch or rug depending on your animal’s preferences.
About: I've grown up with pets (i.e. dog, cat, hamster, bird) for most of my life. I had a rescue family dog for over 10 years and my own pet cat for 3 years yrs before moving to CA. I've pet say for over 30 dogs and over 10 cats, along with occasional reptiles, rodents and even chickens. I know how to read animals and build their trust so that they feel safe and loved. I'm a social worker for my day job and I enjoy being able to care for pets part-time as well. I live walking distance from Lake Merritt, which is perfect for walks. I'm very responsible and I love taking pet pictures, so you can be sure to get as many updates from me as you'd like. Know that I'll care for your pet as if they were my own😊! I know all the right questions to ask to ensure that I know the ins and outs before committing to the care of your pet(s). Lmk if you have any questions. Looking forward to meeting you and your pet soon!
About: Being bilingual, fear-free and pet CPR certified, I can ensure your pet is in safe hands. We use LIMA & positive reinforcement training methods during our visits I also work full time so at the moment I am only available 3 days a week; Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Those days I am available any time I have my own car and can transport to your location and send updates with media and a final summary of how the walk went
About: I have cared for multi-pet households. I have experience feeding, brushing, changing litter, and administering medication. I love animals of all sorts. I am also good with them. I am good at reading their body language, and a lot of them gravitate towards me for whatever reason. They tend to be comfortable with my presence. I am between jobs at the moment, so that means I am somewhat more flexible to work around your schedule. I am a little bit busy with stuff in my personal life, and obviously I have boundaries about when I can and can't be at your home and how much work I want to take on, but the lack of structure in my life right now means we have more options for how I can show up for your pets. I am not in school either at the moment. I am not planning to have this be my only source of income, but for now I am flexible. I can't have pets come to my apartment; it is too small and I don't live on the bottom floor so it would be too much of a hassle to take them outside. I can only come to your home. I am very respectful of boundaries and property when I enter someone else's home. I will pay close attention to your instructions about how to care for your pets and any important other details I need to know. I am responsible and detail oriented, so you can trust me in your home and with your animals. I care that my clients feel secure with me being there while they are away.

About: I’ve take care of dogs of family and friends of various sizes, breeds, and ages and love them as if they were my own! I am able to play with and walk them regularly and can accommodate to whatever special care they need. I work a hybrid 9-5 job and am usually available on the weekends for pet care. Mid-week arrangements may be accepted if discussed in advance so I can schedule my “work from home” days to accommodate. I live in condo complex that has a closed off large courtyard. My home has animal friendly plants, and unfriendly plants kept out of reach.
About: I hang out with cats pretty often and would love to spend more time with them! My friend loves my cat sitting so much that she flies me out to Seattle just to catsit! I have a pretty flexible day job and have time to look after pets. I usually like to do drop-ins around midday or later. Weekends work too! I am very respectful of others' homes and love to send pictures of pets to their owners because I know how much they miss their fur babies!
“My 80 lb American Staffy Mix adored Todd - and Todd was 100% considerate, knowledgeable, and confident with understanding how to interact and read dogs - which I adored! If you need someone to help with your pup - look no further than Todd. ?”

About: I'm a lifelong dog lover and proud dog mom to Zoe, my sweet ~5 year old husky. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life; from caring for my own, to looking after family pets, and even volunteering at my local Animal Services. No matter where I am, the best part of my day is always spotting a pup strolling by. They never fail to brighten my mood! I’m currently offering both doggy daycare and overnight stays at my home, and I’d love to welcome your furry friend into our routine. Zoe and I are active and love long walks around the neighborhood and near Lake Merritt, so your dog will get plenty of exercise, fresh air, and playtime. Whether your pup needs a walk, a cozy overnight stay, or just some good company during the day, you can rest assured they’ll be treated like family — with love, patience, and lots of belly rubs. I always communicate with the pet owners ahead of time to learn about any special care or routine the dog has (specific bathroom breaks, meal times, nap times, medications, etc). Dogs are allowed on my furniture and I have multiple dog beds, cots, crates, and toys to create a welcoming and fun environment for your pup.

When choosing to rebook, as others have, you're developing a long-term relationship. Dogs give me a consistent schedule and I enjoy their company. My family and I are home all day. My schedule revolves around the dog's needs. I follow owner instructions and reinforce training. Limiting interactions with strangers decreases the possibility of accidents. Making the decision that guarantees safety is always my first choice.
Lake Merritt dog parents share their Rover experiences
Sasha once again came through for a last minute fill in to walk my pup. Greatly appreciate her stepping in while my weekly Rover has been out sick. Will definitely request again for upcoming travel now that I am back to traveling for work! Appreciate it, Sasha!

Alexandria rescued me when my initial dog sitter I had lined up backed out at the last minute. I’m so thankful for her! She was super responsive and very easy to communicate with. I have a senior dog and he had an accident inside, and she cleaned it up with no hesitation. She followed my directions for feeding and sent photos to let me know he was okay. I’d absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy dog walker and/or sitter! I’ll be booking her again soon for sure.

Ananda was wonderful with our pups. We have a very shy skittish girl who warmed up to Ananda immediately. Our wild boy also adored her and couldn't wait to see her arrive for walks. Quiet and calm,Ananda was timely, communicated about the pups walks and great with our dogs. I highly recommend her.

I am very happy to have found Chloe on Rover. She's a super nice person, and my dog, Raffi, is in love with her. She's helped me out for 2 weeks, and she's been on time every day, gives good long walks, and always gives me a heads up when she's on her way. She's also flexible when I had to make some last minute changes in schedule. I highly recommend her for your dog walking needs. MY dog will miss her!
Laura is awesome! She pays close attention to our reactive pup's cues and works to stay within her comfort zone to have a successful walk. Laura also has super communication, sending detailed updates and walk reports. We're so grateful for her reliable care!
