“I was so nervous about using Rover for the first time but Deborah was so nice and understanding. She sent me the cutest pictures and videos of my baby to let me know exactly what was going on everyday. She also went above and beyond and got my mail for me, took beretta for walks, and even cleaned the living room for me to return home. I could not recommend her more to anyone else!!”

“Yasmin was Very communicative and sent lots of photos! Was able to come on pretty short notice which I really appreciate. Thanks so much again! I highly recommend! Yasmin would use her again”
About: I genuinely love animals and treat every pet like my own. I have experience giving cats and dogs medication, and I’m patient with pets who need extra time to feel comfortable. I also enjoy running with active dogs and always make sure every pet feels safe, loved, and cared for before I leave. I currently have a very flexible schedule and am able to dedicate plenty of time to pet care. I’m available Monday through Saturday for drop-in visits, walks, runs, or simply spending time with your pet and making sure they’re cared for while you’re away. When caring for pets in their own home, I’m very attentive to both their needs and their environment. I always try to put myself in their shoes and think about what might make them feel comfortable, anxious, happy, or simply more at ease while their person is away. I respect each pet’s routine, personality, and boundaries rather than expecting them to immediately adjust to me. Their safety and comfort are always my priority, and before leaving, I make sure they have everything they need and are settled comfortably in their space.
“Abigail took great care of my cat. I am new to the area and when called for an unexpected work trip, I turned to Rover. I reached out to Abigail and Abigal and received a response within 30 minutes she was available and assisted with setting up the meet/greet. My cat was a stray and is very timid, Abilgail took such great care not to traumatize her and was even able to get close enough to capture a photo. The fact that my cat didn't run is a great compliment to Abigail's patience and caring. I highly recommend this team if you are in the Fort. Lauderdale area, they will be my first go to for the next trip.”

“Kelly is so great with my puppy! She has great communication and sends the cutest pictures!! She also takes great care of my home while she is there.”

“Mara was absolutely awesome! Very communicative and friendly! My dog is shy & she was comfortable with her. I’ll definitely be booking with Mara again!”

About: Caring for animals has been a meaningful part of my life for many years, including raising and caring for my own beloved dog, Nina, for over 16 years through every stage of her life, from energetic younger years to the extra patience and attentiveness that come with senior care. In addition to caring for my own pet, I’ve regularly looked after dogs for friends, both in my home and in theirs, and I also have experience caring for cats. I understand that every pet has its own personality, routine, and comfort level, and I believe consistency is incredibly important when caring for animals. Whether it’s maintaining feeding schedules, walk routines, medication instructions, or simply respecting the structure pets are used to, I make it a priority to follow your care instructions closely. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care, and I take that responsibility seriously. I’m dependable, organized, attentive to detail, and committed to keeping pets safe and comfortable while you’re away. I also believe communication matters, so you can expect thoughtful updates and check-ins so you always know how your pet is doing. My goal is simple: to provide reliable, attentive care that gives both pets and their owners peace of mind. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to provide dependable drop-in visits and dog walks throughout the week, including accommodating a variety of pet care routines and scheduling needs. I understand how important consistency is for pets, and I take scheduling commitments seriously so owners can feel confident their pets are being cared for on time and according to the routines they know and trust. My goal is to provide reliable care that fits seamlessly into both your schedule and your pet’s daily routine. Having been a devoted pet owner myself, I understand firsthand how important it is to find someone you feel completely comfortable trusting with your pet’s care. I know pets are family, and I take that responsibility seriously. I believe great pet care starts with paying close attention to details and following each owner’s instructions carefully, whether that involves feeding schedules, walk preferences, medications, household rules, or recognizing changes in a pet’s behavior. I work hard to maintain the routines pets are familiar with so they feel secure, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. Safety is always a priority, both during visits and on walks, and I’m attentive to ensuring pets remain safe, comfortable, and properly supervised at all times. I also believe communication matters, so you can expect regular updates and check-ins for added peace of mind. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I’m respectful of your space, attentive to security, and committed to leaving your home exactly as I found it.
“Came home from our long trip to a happy and healthy kitty. I’ve never used Rover before but Dawn was amazing and will be our go to for any future trips. She was always on schedule and had a consistent routine that gave our cat a sense of stability while we were away. Dawn took great care to make sure everything was taken care of with detailed report cards and pics after each visit. Would highly recommend! She’s awesome!”

About: I've been looking after dogs and cats for almost everyone I know since I was twelve and I've wanted to be a veterinarian since I was very young. Currently, I'm saving for vet school, but before finding Rover I worked in veterinary offices and boarding kennels where I was responsible for everything from filing medical records and booking appointments to group enrichment and food and medication administration (including subcutaneous fluids). I have also trained dogs professionally (mostly puppies, but some older dogs as well) and fostered for the county shelter. These experiences have made me comfortable with medical and behavioral challenges with animals of any size and I am confident in my ability to care for your fur babies as well as I do mine. Lastly, dietary restrictions excluded of course, don't forget the treats and toys! I am very big on enrichment and positive reinforcement and I'm yet to meet an animal who didn't want a little spoiling. I'm excited to meet you and your pets and hope to foster a long and trusting relationship with both. I am home almost every day that I am not out on Rover jobs. This allows me the flexibility to work with multiple pet families and meet everyone's needs. As all pets are different, I am happy to discuss care plans with pet parents to make sure I can provide what is both needed and wanted, but my schedule is flexible enough to accommodate the vast majority of requests. I do request at least 4 hours notice (including service confirmation) for walks, 2 days notice for drop ins, and a week's notice for house sitting. This is to ensure that I can meet the needs of all clients adequately as well as schedule my non-pet care obligations appropriately. If you are in need of services on shorter notice than the above, I will do my best to accomodate but services will be subject to a 40% upcharge as a rush fee. I am active on Rover throughout the day from about 9am to 8pm (unless I am actively with client animals in which case I remain accessible to said client minus times I am indisposed). I am happy to walk/drop-in on pets several times a day. Administering food and medication during these times is something I am completely comfortable with as I do so for my own animals regularly. Scooping litter boxes is also well within my wheelhouse (though my cat is particularly picky and has a self-scooping one for his comfort). I am used to active/playful dogs and cats as I have one of each myself and I am happy to take some long walks and/or get a good play session going depending on what is most appropriate for the animals in my care. With permission (and the appropriate safety gear) I am also happy to take dogs to their local dog park for socialization and peer play.
“Janice was so great with my 2 cats (one kitten one elderly) and sent us multiple pictures everyday to ease our minds on our vacation. I would definitely book with her again in the future!”

About: I’ve cared for dogs for as long as I can remember, especially senior pups who need extra patience, gentleness, and love. Growing up, I had two senior dogs, a 17 year old Poodle and a 15 year old Shih Tzu, so I’m very familiar with caring for older dogs, understanding their routines, and recognizing when they need a little extra support or comfort. I currently have a one-year-old Shih Tzu who I’ve raised since he was a puppy, so I’m experienced with both young, energetic dogs and calmer, older companions. I truly treat every dog as if they were my own and make sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away. I work full-time but only three days a week, which gives me great flexibility for drop ins, walks, and house sitting. I’m reliable, attentive, and happy to follow your dog’s specific routine, whether that means quiet walks, playtime, medication schedules, or just extra cuddles. Your pet’s comfort, safety, and happiness are always my top priority, and I would love the opportunity to care for your fur baby 💕 I work three days a week, which gives me plenty of flexibility and time to provide attentive, reliable care for your pets while you’re busy or away. My home is calm and pet-friendly, and my dog Momo provides gentle companionship for dogs who enjoy being around other pets and friendly playtime together.

“Tracey did a wonderful job and sent me a bunch of photos of my girls to put me at ease. She was the first person I have used on Rover and now she is my favorite because of how good she was with my babies - I highly recommend her and thank you Tracey for watching Lucy and Bailey”

About: Hi my name is Rev, I’ve owned four amazing dogs and helped countless other train and care for their dogs. I understand how to treat dogs of all ages because i’ve raised pups until full maturity many times. If needed, i am able to administer medication in a friendly way. I’m always on time and as a college athlete, I am able to tale tour dogs (or other pets) our for a longer runs and walks. Plus coming from a school further upstate, I have no problem with the weather in the area and will walk outside for as long as needed by you and your pets. I will treat your animals with the same level of care and love that I treat my own. I’m an outdoorsy type of gal who’s used to being out with my dog and sometimes even my cat. I have a car so traveling is no issue!! I’d love to meet your furry kids and help out the best I can In my home my animals are both free roaming but if need can always assure your animals return to their designated spots. My pets always get hours of play time either with fetch or mental enrichment so i can guarantee the same will be done for your pets!
“Isabella took great care of Lilly. Lilly is a bit intimidating initially when she meets new people. Isabella won her over quickly and was her best buddy while we were away.”

Marcos took great care of my mom’s cats while we were away. He was attentive, kind, and very reliable throughout the entire booking. He made sure the cats were well cared for, sent plenty of photos and updates, and was always quick to respond whenever I reached out with a question. It gave us a lot of peace of mind knowing the cats were being looked after by someone responsible and caring. Everything was done exactly as promised, and the communication was excellent from start to finish. We would absolutely book with Marcos again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dependable pet sitter.

Mafalda with great with my 2 kitties! She kept me updated with video's and photos which help to feel at ease knowing they are getting fed and some snuggles. On the last day she even swept up the area around my liter box which was really nice to come home to:). Thank you Mafalda! Will book again:)

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Melrose Park. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
