“Henry was amazing! From minute he met our dogs, we knew they would be in great hands. Henry did a great job of handling our three energetic dogs, calming their excitement, and playing with them during his visit. While he was watching them, Henry sent detailed reports and photos, and it’s obvious the dogs loved their time with Henry! We would absolutely book again.”

“Melody was super sweet with my senior dog Beau. Melody is easy to communicate with and was very responsive to booking requests and messaging of background information to make sure that we were the right fit. She obviously loves animals and she took great care of not only my pup but my home during an extended drop-in visit. I will definitely re-book care for Beau with Melody again in the future.”

“Veronique has cared for my two cats several times now. She is always responsiveness and professional! A few times she has been flexible to last minute requests or adjustments to my travel plans. My cats are in good hands while I’m away.”

“Alexandra took excellent care of my kitty. She was punctual, very communicative, and sent lots of pictures throughout my trip. Most importantly, my cat was happy, healthy, and well cared for when I returned home. I would gladly book with her again.”

“Alyssa was incredible with the pups. I had a last minute trip and she came to the rescue in a short notice. Not only that, she went above and beyond with the 4 dogs and gave them all the care they needed. To my luck she is near by so I will be definitely using her services more often. Highly recommend 💯”

About: Caring for animals has been a meaningful part of my life for many years, including raising and caring for my own beloved dog, Nina, for over 16 years through every stage of her life, from energetic younger years to the extra patience and attentiveness that come with senior care. In addition to caring for my own pet, I’ve regularly looked after dogs for friends, both in my home and in theirs, and I also have experience caring for cats. I understand that every pet has its own personality, routine, and comfort level, and I believe consistency is incredibly important when caring for animals. Whether it’s maintaining feeding schedules, walk routines, medication instructions, or simply respecting the structure pets are used to, I make it a priority to follow your care instructions closely. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care, and I take that responsibility seriously. I’m dependable, organized, attentive to detail, and committed to keeping pets safe and comfortable while you’re away. I also believe communication matters, so you can expect thoughtful updates and check-ins so you always know how your pet is doing. My goal is simple: to provide reliable, attentive care that gives both pets and their owners peace of mind. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to provide dependable drop-in visits and dog walks throughout the week, including accommodating a variety of pet care routines and scheduling needs. I understand how important consistency is for pets, and I take scheduling commitments seriously so owners can feel confident their pets are being cared for on time and according to the routines they know and trust. My goal is to provide reliable care that fits seamlessly into both your schedule and your pet’s daily routine. Having been a devoted pet owner myself, I understand firsthand how important it is to find someone you feel completely comfortable trusting with your pet’s care. I know pets are family, and I take that responsibility seriously. I believe great pet care starts with paying close attention to details and following each owner’s instructions carefully, whether that involves feeding schedules, walk preferences, medications, household rules, or recognizing changes in a pet’s behavior. I work hard to maintain the routines pets are familiar with so they feel secure, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. Safety is always a priority, both during visits and on walks, and I’m attentive to ensuring pets remain safe, comfortable, and properly supervised at all times. I also believe communication matters, so you can expect regular updates and check-ins for added peace of mind. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I’m respectful of your space, attentive to security, and committed to leaving your home exactly as I found it.
“Overall, Nicole did a wonderul job looking after my two cats. She arrived on time, informed every step of way and even sent me pictures. I would definitely use her services anytime I have to take a trip.”

About: I’ve had pets of my own for more than 10 years and have also spent time fostering both dogs and cats, including animals with special needs. That experience has taught me that every pet needs something a little different, whether that means extra patience, a specific routine, a slower introduction, or just plenty of attention and reassurance. I’m comfortable caring for dogs and cats of all sizes, ages, and personalities. I have experience with everything from newborn kittens to extra-large dogs, and I’m very comfortable around big breeds since we have large dogs of our own at home. Fostering has also given me experience working with animals who may be nervous, shy, adjusting to a new environment, or in need of a little extra care. I’m patient and attentive, and I always try to meet animals where they are rather than expecting them to immediately warm up to me. Most importantly, I genuinely enjoy getting to know each animal’s personality. Whether your pet is energetic and playful, cautious and reserved, or convinced they should be the center of attention at all times, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. My schedule is very flexible, which allows me to accommodate a wide range of pet care needs. I’m available for weekday and weekend walks, drop-ins, and varying times throughout the day, including early mornings, late evenings, and everything in between. I know pet routines don’t always fit into a 9-to-5 schedule, so I’m happy to work around your pet’s normal routine whenever possible. Whether you need regular care, occasional help, or a little extra flexibility, I’ll do my best to make scheduling easy and reliable. Safety, trust, and communication are always my top priorities. I follow each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, house rules, and any special instructions you provide. I also know firsthand how stressful it can be to leave your pets in someone else’s care, so I make a point to keep owners in the loop. I’m happy to send regular updates, photos, and little check-ins so you can relax knowing your pet is safe, comfortable, and getting plenty of attention. In your home, I’m careful with doors, gates, leashes, and harnesses, and I always respect both your space and your pet’s boundaries. I pay close attention to changes in behavior, appetite, energy, or anything else that seems unusual, and I’ll communicate right away if I notice something. My goal is for both you and your pet to feel completely comfortable while you’re apart.
“Kira is an amazing dog sitter! She’s communicative, punctual, and incredibly kind to our Koa. We trust her completely and always look forward to having her take care of our furry baby. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve been an animal lover my entire life and have always grown up with at least one dog in my home. Over the past four years, I’ve fostered five cats and two dogs, giving me experience caring for animals with different personalities and needs. I’ve also owned a cat with diabetes, so I understand the importance of being attentive and patient with pets who require extra care and a consistent routine. I grew up riding and being around horses, and throughout college I volunteered at a local animal shelter. I truly love animals of all kinds and will treat every pet with the same love, attention, and care that I give my own. I’m very available throughout the week and am happy to accommodate different schedules and your pet’s specific routine. I understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet, and I will always treat your home and your animals with respect and care. I’m happy to follow any routines, feeding schedules, walking instructions, or special care needs you provide. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, loved, and gets plenty of attention while you’re away.

About: I’ve always been a huge animal lover and understand how important it is to have someone you can truly trust with your pet. I have hands-on experience caring for dogs and currently have a French Bulldog of my own, so I’m very familiar with daily routines, feeding, walks, playtime, cleaning, and giving lots of attention and affection. I currently take time out of my life to foster dogs in need from the shelter. I’m patient, responsible, and attentive to each dog’s individual personality and needs. I’ll treat your pet like they’re part of my own family and make sure you receive plenty of updates and photos while they’re in my care. My schedule allows me plenty of time to give your pet the attention and care they deserve. I’m available for walks, drop-ins, playtime, feeding, and quality time throughout the week. I’m also happy to work with your pet’s normal routine so they feel as comfortable and stress-free as possible while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I carefully follow all feeding, walking, medication, and care instructions provided by each owner. I’m attentive to changes in behavior and always make sure pets are comfortable, supervised, and given plenty of love and attention. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you can feel confident your pet is happy and well cared for. Whenever someone is watching my dog, I want multiple pictures a day so I totally understand the need for updates on your pup.

“Jill went over and above to care for our two golden retrievers! This was our first time leaving our dogs at home overnight— and for 3 days . It was such a comfort to know that Jill was stopping in to care for them throughout the day. They are happy & well cared for- highly recommend!”

“I found her, y’all! And every single box is checked :) After spending this year reflecting on my blessings, I had no choice but to add another one to my list… Elizabeth. She is truly the best! She’s attentive, punctual, gentle, communicative, bright, friendly, and genuinely eager to bond with your pets. You can feel her heart from the moment she walks in. If you’re nervous about leaving your fur baby with someone new…If you’ve ever worried about coming home to things missing… Or if you’ve wondered whether a sitter will truly love and care for your pet(s) like you do…Let me put all of that to rest. You will not have a single concern with her. She gave us absolute peace of mind, and that is priceless. If peace of mind is what you are also looking for, then today is your lucky day. You found her. 💛🐾”

This was my first time using Courtney and it won’t be my last. She was amazing! She quickly responded to my last minute request for drop-ins and navigated through a new house with ease. My dogs loved her and that tells you a lot about a person! Will definitely be using her again!

Abby handled my cat’s challenging personality with kindness and care. I really appreciated her patience and dedication, especially knowing my cat isn’t the friendliest. It gave me peace of mind knowing my Misty was in good hands. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and compassionate cat sitter!

Elizabeth is the best sitter! She watched my two cats while I was out of town for a week and I am so grateful I found her! I’ve always been nervous leaving my girls with new people but I can tell she made them feel so comfortable and loved. She provided me with thorough updates throughout my trip so I was never worried about them and was incredibly attentive to detail about their care. Thank you Elizabeth :)

Stephanie was kind, caring, punctual and super attentive to my 2 kittens. We hired her services for 8 1 hour drop-in visits. Sent updates every single time w photos! Grabbed mail for us everyday. She discovered a pool leak and quickly stopped it with some over the phone guidance, thankfully. We were so relieved. She is highly recommended -hope you get a chance to hire this loving human for your fur babies. 5 stars plus plus plus! Thank you Stephanie!

Caitlin is a dependable and trustworthy sitter. I kinda plan my vacations when she can watch my pup😂 I come back from trips and my dog always is happy, like she enjoyed hanging out with her new friend (maybe she needs the occasional break from me LOL). Caitlin has watched my dog a few times over the last year and around when I first got her. My dog has improved a lot but definitely requires a sitter who is understanding and kind like Caitlin. Before Caitlin I had sitters turn me down because they discriminated against her breed, not even giving her a chance. I really appreciate Caitlin treating her like her own dog and being so loving towards her. I can definitely tell Caitlin is playing with her as I asked because Tooty has expected play time right around the time Caitlin was here LOL. Thanks Caitlin!

Genesis is great! Maybe, the best with my dog, Sophie, when I’m away. Genesis, provided us a drop-in visit, giving Soph treats, affection, and she even fed her for me, which was an unexpected bonus. She did all of this on short notice with not much prior introduction to meeting Soph. Genesis is one of the best and I highly recommend her! Thank you, Genesis!
Rachelle is super sweet and did a great job taking care of my senior pup, Beau. Beau is nearly 17 and has some medical issues, his vision is failing, and he is a no to being alone. It was such a comfort to have Rachelle take care of Beau while I was out for a long meeting. She was flexible with me on the timing of her drop-in visit, which really helped me. I felt very comfortable with her in my home and with my pup. I also like that she asked questions to get to know Beau, to understand his medical issues, and to know what to do if something happens. Even though she has a lot of experience with her own dogs, she wanted to be sure that she understood Beau's needs even for a short drop-in visit, which is great! I will definitely reach out to Rachelle in the future when I need help with Beau.

Rebecca was an absolute rock star! I had a last-minute change with my usual sitter and she came to the rescue. She was quick to respond, provided great updates, and was so kind throughout. Derby had a fantastic time, and I had total peace of mind knowing she was in such great care. We can’t wait to have her back again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone.
