Eric cares or our pups like they are his own. Our younger one can be skittish with new people but took to him right away. And Eric cheerfully puts up with our old fellow's senility and the challenges yhat brings. We feel very fortunate to have found him!

About: I have babysat: 1) a medium sized 50 lb hound mix dog for a month at a time every year for 13 years (over the course of its life time from when she was a puppy to death) whose personality was very energetic and anxious. It needed a lot of exercise everyday, stimulated play, and long walks which I happily enjoyed! But she also needed to be watched carefully to ensure she didn’t scare anybody by playfully jumping on them. She would tug a lot during walks and would get excited seeing other dogs but I’ve always managed to calmly steer her away if aggression showed or if the other person or dog she was meeting showed signs of being uncomfortable. This dog always stayed at my place when I babysat her. Made sure she was fed on time twice a day and provided fresh water everyday. 2) two cats at a month at a time for the past 5 years. Stayed at the owner’s place every time. Had to be fed at certain times twice a day, gave them treats throughout the day and attention whenever they requested it. Sometimes I would initiate the contact but if the cats weren’t feeling it, they would communicate it and I would stop. They were indoor cats so I also made sure that any windows that were open were secure and they couldn’t slip through. Had no issues of escaped cats. 3) an energetic 8 year old pomsky and an 18 yr old cat for 10 days. House-sat the owner’s place the entire time where I had to walk the dog 4 times every day at a set schedule and feed them both & provide medication to the cat at set times. The Pomsky was very energetic so also took the time during the afternoon to play with her when she had the zoomies. And have the cat tummy rubs and butt scratches whenever she requested it. 4) a large 50 lb, 2 year old, Old English Sheepdog (named Cura). House-sat & dog-sat Cura for 10 days in Los Angeles, CA. Highly energetic who needed a lot of exercise everyday. Very obedient and could be taken off leash. But I always establish a level of trust and learn the dog’s mannerisms before taking them off leash in the park or around the apartment/house block. Cura also had a tendency to be scared of aggressive dogs or loud noises so I always maintained a level of reassurance and safety with her. Also had to be aware of the high temperatures in LA (given the summer time), hence I’d walk her early in the morning and late at night. 5) a 5 yr old, 25 lb, hound whippet mixed dog named Phoebe - house sat and babysat her for 12 days. Highly anxious who needed to be administered an anxiety pill every morning and needed constant attention and long walks. 6) Cats - 3 different cats from 3 different owners in San Francisco (Uno, Missy Elliot, and Fran). Took the time to get to know each of them and played with them / gave them company while cleaning out their litter box, refreshing their water bowls, and making sure they had food. Also planned my schedule so that I could travel between the places efficiently and was in communication with the owners at all times and they knew about my schedule. 7) A small 5 year old mixed poodle (named Cappy) in San Francisco who loved to cuddle! Took him out for walks twice a day, made sure he had food & water, and kept him company for 10 days while house-sitting. 8) 2 cats (Jackie & Cannoli) in New York for 18 days, plus house-sat. One was affectionate and loved to cuddle all the time, the other was more cautious and was very talkative. 9) Hamsters - babysat them for a week at a time for friends whenever they went out of town. Fed and cleaned the box. Would occasionally bring it out of its cage to let it roam around the room in its ball. 10) I have my own pet - a red eared slider turtle who I claim to be my aquatic dog 😉. He is 18 years old and I got him when he was just the size of a quarter. But he gets excited to see me whenever I enter the room and will follow me in the apartment when I let him out to walk around. He can also recognize me out of a group of people! 11) I have a ton of plants that I have grown in the past 6 years - huge monstera (from a 1 foot baby to now a 7 ft giant with 30 inch wide leaves), verraccusum, constellation monstera, cacti, pothos, glorosium, etc. I’m currently unemployed (taking a hiatus from being an accountant in the corporate world) so I have all the time to take care of your pet(s). Available anytime to feed, walk, play, and assist in providing medication. I have a pet turtle that I’ve had for 18 years that I have by a sunny window. But every other day, I’ll let him out in the apartment to walk around and explore (but he will often just follow me around😊). I currently live in an apartment that doesn’t allow dogs or cats so over the last few years, I’ve always taken care of pets at the owner’s place. Either living at their place or coming to their place at set times to feed and/or walk their pets.

About: I have taken care of dogs since I was 9 years old. My family has two large labs (13 years old and 6 years old) that I helped train since they were puppies. I often watch them for my parents when they go on vacation, so I am very comfortable with overnight care and love taking my pups for long walks. I also had a cat for 3 years in college. I love spending time with all animals!! I graduated college with my Bachelor’s degree in May and am currently living at home with my family. My days are filled with applying for jobs, going to the gym, making sourdough bread, spending time outdoors, and caring for my dogs. I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time to walks, playtime, and giving pets the attention and companionship they need. I do not offer care in my own home because I want to keep my dogs’ environment comfortable and stress-free. However, I am happy to provide care in your home, where your pet will feel most secure and comfortable. I have a spacious SUV equipped with dog beds and a ramp for my older dog, allowing me to safely transport pets for walks when needed. My priority is always making sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away.

Linh is fantastic! She house sat for our two pups while we were on vacation for a week. I'm usually nervous about leaving our pups with a new sitter, especially after we had a bad experience with one (not thru Rover) a few years back. But Linh's knowledge and calm, confident demeanor instilled confidence in me so I was able to relax and enjoy our vacation. She sent updates and frequent photos throughout the week. Not only did she leave our house the way we left it, but she washed all of the sheets and towels which was not expected but very much appreciated. We will be using her again for our next vacation and I know the pups will be excited to see her again!

Finley stayed at our home and took great care of our Great Dane while we were away. We were sent regular updates and photos during their time together. And, without being asked Finley even washed the sheets, towels, and kitchenware before leaving the house. He will definitely be at the top of our Rover list next time we need a sitter.

About: Hi! I’m Dylan, and I’ve always had a soft spot for animals. I’ve cared for the pets of friends and family over the years, so I’m comfortable around different personalities, routines, and needs. I’ve also had pets of my own, including a dog, and I’d love to have a dog of my own again someday. Until then, I’m excited to give your pets plenty of attention, affection, playtime, and care! I’m dependable, attentive, and respectful of each pet’s individual routine. I understand that leaving your pet with someone new can be stressful, so my goal is to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. Whether that means a long walk, some playtime, keeping them company, or simply giving them a quiet place to relax, I’m happy to meet them where they’re most comfortable. I’ll treat your pets like they’re my own and make sure you feel confident knowing they’re in good hands. 🐾 I currently have a flexible schedule while I’m searching for a job, so I have plenty of availability for walks, drop-ins, and spending time with pets. I’m able to work pet care into my weekly routine while giving each pet the attention they deserve. Once I start a new job, I’ll make sure my availability stays up to date and only take bookings I can fully commit to. I focus on making pets feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while keeping their normal routine as consistent as possible. In a client’s home, I follow their instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications if needed, and any specific routines or preferences their pet has. I always make sure pets have fresh water, a clean and comfortable space, and plenty of attention and enrichment. I’m also happy to spend extra time playing, giving cuddles, or simply keeping a pet company if that’s what they enjoy. I understand that every pet is different, so I take the time to learn their personality and let them set the pace. Most importantly, I treat your home and your pets with the same care and respect I would want for my own.

Christy recently dog sat at our home for a week for our 7 year old mini doodle and we could not recommend her highly enough! She was reliable, communicative, responsive, great at expectation setting and clearly someone who genuinely loves caring for and spending time with pets. We knew our dog was in great hands with her and getting lots of love and attention. She even came to our home an extra time before our trip, to make sure our dog got to know and trust her. We would highly recommend her to anyone and would enthusiastically rebook with her in the future. Thank you, Christy!

FAQs for House Sitting - Lincoln

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Lincoln on Rover is $103.84 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 6,739 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lincoln. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lincoln walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lincoln maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lincoln choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lincoln. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
