“I had to hire Peter at the last minute after my other sitter wasn't a good fit. All I can say is everything happens for a reason. Peter was so attentive and caring to my senior pup, it was night and day from my previous experiences. Peter checked in and followed all my care instructions and went above my expectations. I will definitely use his services again!”

“Sara did a terrific job taking care of our dog and cat. She kept us updated on how they were doing and didn’t hesitate to ask questions if she needed information on how to provide the best care. Thank you, Sara.”

“Ashley communicated well throughout the week. She cared for our pets as her own and took excellent care of our home. Will continue to recommend. We came home to happy pups!”

“Catherine is the best! She is so sweet and intentional, and my sweet Knox had the best time with her. She even offers crafts, homemade treats, and paw-decures!! 💅🏼 Will be booking again”

About: I'm back after a brief hiatus with starting a new job! I am fully remote now, so I can hang out with your babies all day! I would LOVE to be your baby’s home away from home! 😍 My first and only sibling was a cockapoo named Mischief that I treated like my brother from the time I was born (peep my pics to see him in my Barbie car), so you can rest assured that your family will be treated like my family! I have experience with outdoor pets that come and go as they please to spoiled indoor babies that need all of the attention. I have volunteered with the GBHS and have pet sat for so many friends and relatives that it’s hard to keep count! My mom’s dog is a senior with special needs and I have a special place in my heart for sweet babies like her. I have one cat who is very independent and would prefer to be left alone and another cat that is a queen who wants to be cuddled all of the time…so lots of experience with various personalities and temperaments. Whether your pet loves to play all day or nap 24/7, I promise to make sure they are comfortable! 😎 I currently work from home full time and have a very pet friendly home. If you prefer your baby to be in a crate, I have a small carrier as well as a medium sized crate they can use; I even have a playpen area. My pets are all socialized with both cats and dogs and there are plenty of dog and cat toys to keep your pet entertained! Since I work from home, your pet will not be unsupervised and will have eyes on them at all times. They will have access to food and water as much as they could ever want and I can provide potty breaks as often as they need. I have a large walking area and open space around my apartment complex for pups as well as a separate litter box for kitties if your king/queen prefers their own. All of my pets drink from a water fountain that filters but I have plenty of bowls to go around if that is more your pet’s style! We are very low maintenance around here and can adapt to your baby’s needs since they are our guest! I am happy to accommodate any requests you have when it comes to training, schedules, breaking habits, etc.
“Annie was great with our dog and cat. She took our dog on walks, fed them and gave them their meds, cleaned up after our cat when he got drive, and took tons of photos for us. We will be requesting her again!”

“Jessica is a caring and reliable sitter for us when we are out of town. She stays in contact with me as often as I send her messages and she kindly sends photos throughout the day. We will continue to book her services and we are thankful we met her.”

“Cam was fantastic with Cookie and Bizzy! She was communicative, attentive, and followed instructions perfectly. She handled all the usual cat antics with patience and humor, and it was clear she genuinely cared about their comfort and wellbeing. I felt completely at ease knowing they were in such good hands and would absolutely book her again.”

About: I am comfortable with dogs of all ages and sizes from my experience in a vet clinic. I know what to look for when a dog is feeling un well or anxious. I have my own dog that is a cocker spaniel and he lives to play! I currently work at a job where I handle multiple dogs at once and I love it! I go on lots of walks and have a big yard to play! I work a part time job and am in college in town. I Am home most of the day on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Saturdays are my busy days but am still available to board. Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays are a little more unpredictable w my schedule but I am home by 5 maybe before. I have a large fenced yard and live across from a large dog friendly park/walking trail. I have a friendly dog to keep your baby company! If your dog is not crate trained it is no problem. And if they are, I have large crates.
“Absolutely Wonderful! Evie treated Patsy like her on. She managed her diabetes and gave her shots. This is our second time to use her and we plan on using her a lot more. We can leave town with confidence that Patsy will be taken care of and loved.”
About: Neighbors, friends, and family have relied on me to feed, walk, and entertain their pets for several years. I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember! I’m a graduate student at UAB and my schedule has the opportunity to be flexible, so I am available for early mornings, late afternoon, and evening walks and check-ins during the week. On the weekends, I have full availability for whatever you and your pet need! I treat every pet like it’s my own- I shower them with love and affection, give lots of treats, and can play all day, regardless of your pet’s age, personality, or activity level.
About: I’m 39 years old and there has been a pet in my life since I was 7. I’m an only child and my pets quickly became like siblings (we didn’t fight like them, promise). I became the primary caregiver for my mom’s two senior mini dachshunds a few years ago and was able to get them crate and pee-pad trained. One of them crossed the rainbow bridge sadly, but my other little old lady is doing well. I fall in love with every animal I see and I would love the chance to fall in love with yours. I’m currently working a full time second shift job (1pm-11pm) so I have the mornings completely open to check on your babies. I’m also a night owl and have no problem doing a nighttime check after work or begin an overnight stay. If you have a fenced yard, I will let them outside and let them do their business before tossing a ball or toy or running around with them to get the zoomies out. If no yard, then I will take them out on a leash for a walk then some playtime inside. Food and water will be checked and refilled; cuddles will be provided at will. :)
“Hannah was great and took excellent care of our babies while we were gone. She was very respectful of our home and sent pictures several times thruout the day to let us know what the pups were up too. She vacuumed because our fur babies shed a lot and ran the dishwasher. We will be using Hannah again for any trips we take short or long!”

“Ashlyn took great care of our babies while we were on vacation! She kept me updated on everything & sent lots of pictures which we loved. It made us feel so much more at ease knowing our dogs were getting plenty of attention while we were gone. Would definitely book with her again!”

About: I currently have two cats so I have lots of experience with cats. I also have experience watching dogs, big or small. I’ve watched dogs on an off again for my friends and neighbors. I am very good an when it comes to strict schedules. I have experience giving medication as well. I would love to have the chance to care for you loved pets and give them just as much love as you have. I do work night shift of the weekends but I am free on weekdays all day. And I can also come during the day on weekends a couple times before I go into work. Due to me having cats at my home I will not be offering at home services because I do not want to stress your animal out as well as mine.
“Jill was great with our two dogs while we were gone. We had a last-minute issue getting friends to take care of them, and Jill came to the rescue in less than 10 minutes. Recommend her completely.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lake Purdy
Ruby took great care of our pups! She was incredibly communicative, and she shared several updates while we were away. We knew our dogs were in good hands! We also had some travel disruption, and Ruby was extremely accommodating when our schedule changed. I’d highly recommend her!

Kayla was great— very communicative, professional, the type of person who you trust will take good care of your pup. We had travel issues crop up while Kayla was slated to take care of our dog & she just rolled with it. We would be happy to work with her again!

Regan was an absolute blessing. My dog loved being able to spend time with her, and was really excited that she brought her dog Finn as well so he could have a buddy. She kept me up to date during their stay together, provided me plenty of pictures and made sure my dog was well taken care of while I was out of town. He especially loved the walks she would take him on with Finn and the extra attention he got from both of them.
Honestly if I could give Mariana 10 ⭐️ I would. She is absolutely amazing!! She loves our girl Jo and spoils her with all the love and kindness she has. She keeps us updated on her day and sends pics. It’s also so wonderful that she stays at our home over night/days so our girl can stay in her own place. I highly recommend her to stay with your furbabies she’s the best!!

This was my first experience using Rover and Lauren was fabulous. She took great care of my two dogs. One of my dogs in a senior dog and needed extra attention and she took such sweet care of him. She was very responsive and sent me great pictures. She also left my house very clean which I totally appreciated. I will definitely use Lauren again and would highly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lake Purdy walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lake Purdy maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lake Purdy choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lake Purdy. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
