“She is such a lovely sitter for my dog. She wrote down notes and made sure that he was well taken care of. I truly appreciate her patience with my dog cause he has a lot of energy. Definitely booking her again”

About: I believe every dog deserves more than just a sitter, they deserve a friend. I take time to build trust, understand their unique personality, and provide patient, attentive care so you can have peace of mind knowing your pup is in good hands. My schedule is flexible. I am available for daily walking, check-ins, playtime, anything needed to help your pets feel safe and comfortable! I can pet sit on the weekends and certain days of the week. I understand how important it is to have someone reliable in your home caring for your furry family members. I’ll follow your instructions carefully, maintain your pet’s normal routine, provide updates, and make sure they receive the love, attention, and care they deserve while you’re away.
“Christina was great. She got my normally reserved cat to open up on her first visits. Had her revealing her belly. She took good care of her. Would definitely book again!”

“Ashley did a wonderful job taking care of our dog! She was always on time and let us know how each visit went after it was over. Very friendly and caring. We would love to have her help again in the future!”

About: I have a special gift for noticing the emotions and personalities in pets that people often overlook. Whether your dog is playful, shy, independent, or simply needs a little extra love, I take the time to understand what makes them feel comfortable and happy. I’ve been around dogs since the age of 7. My specialty is dogs, but I happily welcome my feline friends too! :) When your pet is with me, they’re not just being watched. I want to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and joyful during every visit—so much so that they remember me when I return! My goal is to make sure your pet has a great day, because they give us so much in return: security, joy, companionship, and unconditional love. I want them to feel that same care and connection while they’re with me. 🐾 I don’t have a full time or part time job, I don’t own any pets of my own, no kids. My only exceptions would be my personal daily task that come with general life. I do not board more than one dog at a time just to keep things safe. I also live in an apartment complex with two other roommates who are my best friends. With this set up, I can ensure both your fur baby and my roommates are comfortable.
About: Working at animal hospitals and pet stores has taught me to care and handle not only my own animals but the animals of others as well. I am caring and loving with your dog as if it is my own but firm need be. I am not squeamish when it comes to cleaning up after your dog. While with your dog they will get 100% of my attention because the safety of your dog is my #1 priority. I am very careful with special needs dogs and always keep in mind their specific needs. I am very knowledgeable with most breeds and their dos and don'ts. Your dog will enjoy their play time with me. They will be looking forward to my visits! Thank you I am available mostly all day and evenings. Will work around your dogs normal routine / schedule. Also available weekends unless out of town or booked. I do have 3 dogs and 5 cats, but your baby would be separated from all of them. We have our own kennels if you baby is used to sleep in them. Or we allow your babies to sleep in the bed with us. We have a big backyard with toys and and little pool during the summer.
About: Hey Dog Parents, I am a huge dog lover. I always have been. I have had dogs in my household my whole life and I miss having one around. This is why I would love to help you and make sure your dog is taken care of. I promise to do my best and make them feel as comfortable as possible. I love to go for walks and be active and will be happy to play with your dog. My work schedule allows me to walk frequently, which is great for a dog that enjoys being outside. I pay a lot of attention and make sure that each dog is comfortable and happy around me. I also have experience with dogs that have separation anxiety. I look forward to meeting you and your pet!
“Stephanie did such a great job! She communicated with me and sent pictures of my kitties. I felt very relaxed knowing that she was going to check on them and make sure they had everything they needed. I highly recommend Stephanie and will happily request her again in the future.”

“I so appreciated Chandler’s quick response to my last-minute booking, how she communicated and asked clarifying questions, and her obvious love and care for my doggo! 10/10 recommend”

“Claire was amazing with my babies!! She cared for them while I was away like they were her own. I came home to happy babies and all thanks to Claire!! I will absolutely book with her again 😻”

About: I’m an educator, dad, and lifelong pet owner with more than 20 years of experience caring for animals. Pets have always been part of my family, so I understand that trusting someone with yours is a big deal. I’m patient, attentive, dependable, and comfortable following established routines for feeding, walks, playtime, medications, and all the little things that help a pet feel safe and comfortable. As an early childhood professor, caregiving, observation, communication, and responsibility are quite literally part of what I do every day. I’ll care for your pet with the same attention and affection I expect for my own. As a university professor, my schedule offers more flexibility than a traditional 9-to-5, particularly on certain weekdays, evenings, and weekends. I’m also a dad, so planning, routines, and being dependable are already a big part of my life! I’m happy to coordinate care around your pet’s normal schedule whenever possible and will always be upfront about my availability before accepting a booking. I know pets are family, and I treat both your pet and your home with that level of care and respect. I follow your instructions closely, maintain established feeding, walking, medication, and bedtime routines, and pay attention to changes in behavior or appetite. I’m patient about letting pets warm up to me at their own pace and prioritize safety at all times. You can also expect dependable communication and updates while you’re away. I know how reassuring it is to know that someone you love is happy, safe, and well cared for.
About: Growing up I had experience with a lot of types of animals, from cats, dogs, sheep, pigs, cows and horses. In my adult life, I have had a lab mix and have had 4 boxers (3 currently still in the home) and a siamese mixed cat. I learned a lot about dog behavior when I got my first boxer through training, and feel like that has helped me with other dogs too. Two of my current boxers are seniors and they take meds so I am familiar with those types of things and my other one is 8 months old so I am currently also in the puppy phases as well. I do have a full-time job. Evenings and weekends are the best time for me on some days. I often work from home later in the week so I can be flexible those days. I am definitely open to chatting about options. I will keep my calendar up to date based on my availability. If your pups are coming to my house, I have a fenced in yard. I do have a pool, but I go outside with all pups for safety reasons. If your dog loves to swim let me know! I also have a quiet neighborhood for a nice leashed walk. I do have a lot of stairs so if you have a senior dog that has mobility issues my house might not be the best option. If they go out on a leash this would be less of an issue b/c I can take them for a walk out front. I crate my puppy when I am gone, and can crate your dog when/if you would like me too. I would like any special instructions about medications/food/behavior etc that are specific to your pets. I would need any specific instructions for your in home stays with your pets.
About: Not only am I a caretaker, but I'm also a trainer, walker, videographer, and photographer! I spend the entire day giving your pets attention while occasionally filming and taking pictures. At the end of each day, you will receive a cute video blog of how we spent our day, as well as professional, high resolution portraits of your pets that you are free to do with as you please (one of my clients turned hers into a paint-by-numbers painting for her son)! I am also available for video calls if you happen to have any children who are missing their fur-siblings. I began dog-sitting at the age of 15 and learned how to train through one-on-one coaching by a local police dog trainer who happened to be my neighbor. And then, I just started training every dog in my life for fun (neighbor's pups, family's, friends', etc.) and it blossomed into a side business from there. Today, I enjoy house-sitting because there is truly no better environment for a pup than their own home when their family is away, especially if they're still training. This helps them to establish and recall routines such as going potty outside, what items in the home are not toys, etc. I have a dog of my own (who stays at home with my partner while I'm house-sitting). We never run out of tricks to learn. Currently, Poncho loves to jump through hoops, show you his left paw, his right paw, retrieve each one of his toys by name, and he especially loves to balance treats on his nose just before flicking them into his own mouth. He probably knows 20 more tricks and more than 50 commands, he loves showing off on the obstacle courses, and he always seems eager to continue learning. We walk between 1-5 miles per day (depending on the weather). When I care for pets at a client's home, I like to stick to the routine that the client has established, including any preferences for treats, sleeping locations, feeding amounts, etc. And I am always happy to try and teach dogs new tricks, however, how quickly they learn depends on a number of factors (including how food/treat-motivated they are, their breed, and how old they are). And while I think teaching new tricks can be a fun little bonus when having me house-sit, I think the best part is the peace of mind I'm able to provide with daily pictures and videos. At the end of the night, I put together a cute video that's up to 5 minutes long with clips of things we've done all day, as well as a full report. And I'll send the video/report at whatever time the client prefers. And I'm always available for an "in the moment" report if the client is especially missing their furry one. This includes either a picture, video, or a quick FaceTime call!
“Leah has been so amazing with my puppy Oliver! She keeps me updated with photos throughout the day and is both professional and super helpful! I cannot recommend Leah enough!”

About: my entire life i’ve grown up around animals! since i was 10, i was walking my childhood lab around on a leash. i worked as a dog groomer for 2 years and i have a huge passion for anything pet related, especially what makes them happiest. anytime spent around animals is when im most comfortable, no matter how difficult the task may be. I’m completely free on Tuesdays, so I have no problem with taking care of your pups all day if needed! I work every other day, but I wanted to find time to helps pets on top of everything else! I’m a very athletic person, and have no problem taking your fur baby on lengthy walks, or to parks if wanted. Particularly difficult paths or uphill walks are no issue for me!
About: I have been dogsitting & catsitting for several years now. I am looking to for more opportunities to do so. I am excited to take care of your pet while you are away! I work full time but I have a flexible schedule. I am able to sit for your pet any day of the week and able to check on them throughout the day. I will primarily be dogsitting or cat sitting at my client’s home rather than bringing a pet back to my home. I think it would be best for the pet to be in their home environment.
About: I’ve always had cats, and usually they were strays that we took in. As a teenager, I would pet sit for my neighbors frequently when they were out of town- cats and dogs! I had two dogs growing up. Now as an adult, I have 2 cats of my own, Sinclair (5yo male) and Petal (1yo female)! For most of June and July I will be free week days and weekends! Starting in August, I will be available in afternoons and on weekends. I am willing to spend time with your cats and dogs, play with them however needed, and I can take your dogs on long walks!
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lake Purdy
Katherine is the best! She took amazing care of our 3-month-old Basset Hound daily during the week while my wife and I were at work. Each day we received texts and pictures with updates telling us how our puppy was doing. We will absolutely be going back to Katherine in the future any time we need someone on Rover!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
