“Charlie took excellent care of our dog while we were on vacation. She sent lots of pictures of our dog playing with her dogs and it seemed like they had a fun time together!”

“Amanda was absolutely amazing and Bella had such a great time being with her for the night! She was super communicative about how Bella was doing and sent me lots of pics and all around very responsive and easy to work with! Will definitely call on her again! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟”

“Doug did an amazing job with our puppy. He was very gentle and kind with her. It was our first time using Rover and first time leaving her for the weekend and I can honestly say I didn’t worry a bit. Highly recommend Doug and hope to use his services again.”

“This is our third time leaving our dogs with Jonathan and they really love it there! They got so excited when we pulled up to their house and they ran straight to the fabulous back yard. Highly recommend!”

“Ashley was awesome with our two Boxer girls! Mags and Su had a blast playing in the big fenced back yard & with her pup and senior Boxer. I honestly think Su is going to have separation anxiety from Freya, she loved playing with her so much!! Ashley sent daily updates with photos/videos. We would highly recommend, especially if you have a Boxer, trusting Ashley with your fur babes!”

“Our puppy had the best stay with Katie!!!! She was welcomed with a very excited embrace by Katie's sweet daughter, and every day we received great updates from Katie (and adorable photos) on how Ellie was doing! We will definitely have Ellie stay with Katie again the next time we are out of town! Thank you again - such a great experience!!!”

“Stephanie did a great job with our boy Bodhi. She was sweet, caring and we can tell Bodhi enjoyed his stay. Highly recommend her. She will be our go to in the future.”

“Holly did an excellent job caring for my dog, from beginning to end! She made sure my pup was comfortable in her home and with her dog, and based on the interactions I saw in person and via video/photos, I have no doubt she treated my dog just like her own! She was super conscientious about removing toys my dog would likely chew/eat, and followed my "rules" about treats and food! It's evident she loves dogs and has experience caring for them, and that made it easy for me to leave my pup in her care!”

“Sarah was absolutely wonderful! She let me book my dog Mickey when it was very last minute and sent several updates while she was there. Would definitely use Sarah again and would highly recommend to anyone needing her services. Thank you again, Sarah! Mick sure did enjoy her vacay! :)”

“Riley took great care of our dog and kept us updated throughout the stay. She was reliable, communicative, and made us feel completely at ease. She is officially our go-to sitter, and we highly recommend her!”

About: I honestly enjoy dogs and cats more than most people, sorry not sorry 😆. There’s just something about the trusting love of an animal that brings joy to life/my world. I’ve been a dog owner for over 15 years, first to my sweet Charlie - no longer with us; and now to our foster fail Maya. Charlie was a border collie who never ran out of energy. Like, ever 😆. Maya is a more settled gal, but she still loves a good walk/hike as long as a nap comes afterwards. I’ve also been a cat mom, and cat foster mom for over 20 years. Our Sophie & Evie keep us on our toes requesting frequent snuggles, play time, treats, and nap time in our laps 💜🐾 If it’s not already evident, I firmly believe: pets are family, and pets have rights to autonomy/boundaries with people and other animals. I fully expect pet owners to have the same standards of care for selecting someone to help with their pet as I believe they’d use to choose a babysitter for their human kiddos. I happily respect and help maintain people’s rules for their pets (but all y’all that say they can’t get on the couch need an intervention 🙃😉 I’m just saying). Let’s chat about how to help your pets live their best lives when you can’t be with them - whether that’s walks, stop in visits, boarding in my home or other care needs. I work from home and have a fair amount of flexibility in my schedule. I’m able to do drop in visits to feed, administer meds, let dogs out, attend to cat boxes etc. and during my visits I will also provide a bit of attention and interaction for your pets if they desire it - I’m not just a run in and run back out sitter ☺️ I provide in home boarding and doggy day care at my home, where they have access to our fully fenced backyard for potty visits and playtime (weather safety dependent). I will probably only offer cat care visits to your home, as I have our 2 girls here full time as well as often having a foster kitten/cat or 2. I will be happy to cater a care plan that best suits your requirements and your cat’s needs.
“Iris is great with communication and updating information for my girl. I was little worried before I sent my dog since she has some anxiety, but it turns out great experience with Iris. She is always available, let Sandi out every 2-3 hours, plus her family member and her dog are very nice and friendly. Definitely going back again!”
“Nicole did a super great job boarding my two doggies for almost a week stay. She kept me informed when I was away and took very good care of them both. Will definitely be choosing her again next vacation.”

“Kendall is the best! Not only was she able to keep up with my pup, but she always reached out with updates! I was never worried about my dogs safety & I would 100% use Kendall again!”

“Laderius and his family took good care of Lottie. We recently moved to AL and I didn’t know how busy it is during spring break. Laderius was able to accommodate Lottie in such short notice. I received pictures and updates about Lottie and she looked happy.”

“Opal was incredible and I will definitely use her services when going out of town again! My sweet dog is 11 years old and has very bad arthritis but she took the best care of him and loved him like he was her own, and he had a great time! It’s so relieving when you find someone who will love and take care of your pet just as you do at home and will keep you updated with photos and videos each day. 5-stars!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Lake Purdy
We found an incredible dog sitter through Rover, and we couldn't be happier with the experience! She took such wonderful care of our dog and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Every day, she sent multiple picture updates along with sweet notes about how our dog was doing and the fun, interesting things they got up to together. Drop-off and pick-up were seamless and completely hassle-free. She is truly wonderful at what she does, and we will definitely be booking with her again in the future. Highly recommended!

Angelika went above and beyond caring for our Billie! Billie has pretty severe separation anxiety, and Angelika was incredibly patient, understanding, and accommodating throughout the entire stay. She took Billie on walks every day and sent multiple photo updates, which we absolutely loved receiving and gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It’s clear how much care and attention she gives to the pets she watches. Billie already misses her, and we’re so grateful for everything Angelika did. We would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Lake Purdy home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Lake Purdy.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Lake Purdy sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in AL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
