I live in a one-bedroom apartment in luxury high-rise on UWS. My building is very dog friendly. I have no pets as my cat died recently. I adore dogs and often care for those of my neighbors. I live by Riverside Park. It would be wonderful to have furry friends visiting. I am able to follow any and all specific instructions and can provide any special care that is needed. Dogs love me!

Hi there, Shay & Zach here,

We'd love to meet you and your dogs!

Our two small dogs, Peanut & Bailey, love meeting new friends and having doggy sleepovers. We know that your pets are a part of the family, just like ours. We'll take care of them as if they were our own. Your fur-babies are in good hands.

- Lots of tasty treats, tons of toys, and plenty of soft places to rest.

OUR SCHEDULE:

Though we work full time, we are available 7 days a week. Between the two of us someone will be home Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to be with the dogs as well as lunch time potty breaks on work days.

We can facilitate drop off and pick up at our home before 8:30am or after 6pm or by appointment on weekdays. We are available for pick up/drop off to and from your home after 5pm on weekdays. The weekends afford us more flexibility.

Pack mentality is strong and we see pups catch on pretty quickly to the schedule. A typical work day is as follows

6am first potty break

8am second potty break

9am breakfast in crates

12pm~2pm lunch potty break

5pm~6pm humans home for the evening

7pm~8pm dinner time

10pm~11pm last potty break before bed time

OUR HOME:

Dogs are given plenty of space and are supervised during meal times, to mitigate any food aggression or bowl stealing. Because we care for multiple dogs at once, we cannot accommodate "grazing" behavior i.e. leaving food out. What we can do is offer your pup some time to themselves to eat, away/protected from others. It is typical for some dogs to not eat during the initial meal times on their first stay. We usually let them warm up at their own pace but have plenty of ways to entice them to eat of you'd prefer (peanut butter, chicken broth, cheese, etc).

Dogs in our care are allowed social time when someone is around to supervise. When we must leave the dogs unattended, they are separated and crated for their safety. Dogs from the same family are usually kept together unless used to being crated separately. We do our best to make sure all dogs are within visual range of each other in the same room to offer comfort despite being separated. Alternate housing options are available in the event that crating is not possible.

The dogs are regularly given free access to the back yard to come and go as they please when we are home. When this isn't possible, due to weather (or excessive barking), we offer them potty breaks every 2 ish hours, or when they "tell" us they need to go.

Though dogs aren't allowed on our bed, we all sleep as a pack in our master suite. The dogs may choose where and whom to snuggle up to with a variety of beds, blankets, and flooring options.

YOUR DOG:

What is their typical day like (when do they go potty; what are their eating habits; what is their normal activity level)? What is their experience level in groups of dogs, with crate training, and with potty training (accidents or marking tendencies)? What makes your dog tick; what makes them yours?

Packing list:

- food & regular food dish (something they normally eat out of every day)

- leash and harness (if they have one)

- regular bedding (anything they normally sleep on that smells like home)

- medications if applicable

Extras:

- toys/treats (you're welcome to pack these but we also have plenty to share)

- crate (we do have extra metal crates for small dogs)

Welcome & Thanks for checking out our page! PLEASE take the time to read everything below.

May 2019 Update: We are currently NOT accepting new clients. Due to our high volume of repeat guests, we simply do not have much availability for Meet N Greets. Meet N Greets tend to work best when we do not have other pups here, which is rare around our house :)

ABOUT LAUREN & CHRIS: We are slightly dog obsessed and love sharing our home with your babies. When we first started dogsitting, we intended it to be weekends only (hence the name Weekend Whiskers), but due to our amazing guests and expansion, we keep dogs 7 days a week.

OUR SCHEDULE: Lauren recently quit her corporate job to pursue her dream of going to nursing school. She is home most of the time studying, which means your dogs are rarely at our house alone. On weekends, we do nothing but stay around the house and play!

OUR HOUSE: We are nestled in the Bluff Park section of Hoover. We have a large fenced in backyard, and our entire basement is pup-friendly, with tile floors, a TV for the pups, plenty of toys, and a pup cam so that we can watch the dogs while we are at work. Please note this camera is just for Lauren & Chris’s use, but we will send you plenty of pictures throughout the day!

OUR PUPS: While our 3 pups are best friends, they could not be any more different. Hattie Belle is a 8 year old beagle/dachshund mix. Her hobbies include laying on the bed all day, eating, receiving belly rubs, and doing nothing at all. Tanner is a 6 year old lab mix and enjoys going 1000 mph all the time. He loves all balls, sticks, and water. Penny is a 10(ish) year old dachshund. What she lacks in size, she makes up in personality. Penny loves all dogs and all laps.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to protect the well-being of your dogs as well as other dogs, your pups must be up to date on the following:

-Vaccinations

-Heartworm and flea preventative

-Males MUST be neutered. We have found that unaltered dogs have a tendency to be aggressive towards other male dogs.

OUR GOAL: We get it! Leaving your fur baby with a complete stranger is terrifying, but we promise to love on your fur baby as if he or she is our own. Effective 11/4/2016, 10% of our proceeds go to local rescue shelters in the Birmingham area. Donations are sent on a biweekly basis. Thank you for helping us support animals in need!

For almost 6 years I had the privilege of calling myself mom to a wonderful, beautiful Shepherd mix who sadly, I lost to a brief illness (fall 2014). While I know my sweet boy can never be replaced in my heart, animals have the amazing power to help heal and are always a bright spot in the day. If I can bring some happiness to yours by providing a safe and loving temporary home while you're away, then it is a win win for you, me and your pet. For several years I also worked with an animal rescue organization as a foster parent and have had several amazing pups call my house home before finding their forever families. I love all animals but have a heart for those who might be feeling a little sad (like when mom/dad leave) and need some extra TLC. My back yard is large and fenced and I have a great walking trail just outside the front door so your pet will be well exercised while staying with me. While I do work away from the home, I am close by and come home at lunch when I have dogs staying so they are not left more than 4 hours without going out and getting some play time. I believed, as you might, that no one could every care for my baby like I did but, should you leave yours with me, I assure you I'll be a close second.

Dogs are my world!Trussville, AL

Growing up I had my family’s 2 black labs follow me wherever I went. I’ve always loved animals more then anything (which is why I’m currently in Animal Behavior College.) I have a 10 month old Boxer pup named Gizmo. Gizmo means everything to me. He is a vital member of my family, so when I’m taking care of someone’s pet (family member), I understand the responsibility attatched to having fun with my new furry friends. I genuinely enjoy taking pictures of smiling pups to send to the owners. I’m never late, and I never forget to send fun photos because I understand that it can be uncomfortable at first to have an unfamiliar face around such an important part of your life. Part of my job is to make sure you’re aware that your pet is safe and having a great time. I also love working with cats. I would love to be an important part of your pets life just like Gizmo is to mine!

I'm Kelsey and I specialize in care for senior pets, animals that require medicine or injections, dogs and cats that may have special needs and dogs doing physical rehabilitation. While I have quite a bit of experience in this realm, I love LITERALLY every single dog and would love to cuddle with your dog even if they don’t fall into this category.

I have hands on experience with all kinds of conditions including:

-epilepsy

-diabetes

-dementia

-arthritis

-post surgical care

-kidney disease

-heart disease

-cushings disease

and others.

I also have experience with behaviorally 'challenged' dogs. Let me know if that's the situation and I'd be happy to learn all about your dogs triggers and help set your pooch up for success!

Every pet is different, so we can work together to create a care plan that works best for your kid. I’ve been lovin’ on dogs my whole life (and getting paid for it for 10 years) and I would love to meet your dog and chat with you about any specific needs they may have.

I have two senior dogs of my own that are here to welcome your dog into our home. They’ve been foster siblings for 50+ dogs and have helped host many more who just came to hang out for a few days. We’re excited to get to know your pup!

Dogs Are My Favorite PeopleBirmingham, AL

I love dogs. Always have. I mean, I like people and other animals too...but dogs are the best. Big ones, small ones, everywhere in between, all breeds. I've had dogs my whole life, and currently have three of my own. My time spent with my own dogs is my best time, and I'm sure it will be the same with yours. My own dogs get along with everybody, and they're super social with other dogs too. If we do boarding (or anything else, for that matter), I always offer to do a meet and greet. All pups in my care get lots of exercise, and I'll send you pictures and updates. There's flexibility in my schedule, and for any day-care or boarding situation, I'll always make sure I'm able to spend plenty of time at home before committing. All dogs generally have the run of my home all day, but if your dog usually gets crated that's also ok. If you're able to provide the crate that is great, but if not I have a couple in different sizes that we can use. Looking forward to meeting you and your pups!

Gina's Petting Sitting InvernessBirmingham, AL

I have owned dogs from miniatures to large (3 Rotties, 1 Shepard and 5 mix). I have been caring for pets and training dogs most of my life and rescuing as soon as I was old enough to walk the neighborhood. I have volunteered at the humane society in Birmingham where I loved and cared for all our orphans as well as working the mobile adoptions on Saturdays. I will make your best friend welcome and so happy they will not want to leave.

I have been blessed by these wonderful beings all my life. We live in a gated community with a private dog park so your dog will have a great safe place to play while you are away.

This is my passion and my mission!

Waggin Tails Inn (24/7 Supervision)Birmingham, AL

Welcome to Waggin Tails Inn and Thanks for Checking out our page.

About Me: I’ve been caring for dogs for over 12 years mostly while in the Military and volunteering at various shelters and animal rescues. My love for dogs doesn't stop there; I have a pet food pantry that donates food and care packages to homeless dogs and their owners or anyone who falls on hard times.

Our location: During their time with us, they will enjoy free range of our cozy two-bedroom apartment. 24/7 supervision and will NEVER be left alone; he or she will join our fur kids on walks around the neighborhood, daily errands, an afternoon stroll around our local on-leash parks, organic, all-natural homemade treats, play sessions in our doggy room and of course lots of naps to rest up for the next round of play. We only board one dog/family at a time, to make sure we're giving your fur baby all TLC they need while you're away.

My Fur Babies: Nico and Melah Rose are best buds and full of personality. Nico is a 5-year-old puggle who loves cuddling, playing fetch, tug of war, sunbathing in front of the window and long walks to local parks. Melah Rose is a 4-year-old Corgi/Cocker spaniel mix who loves running, car rides, playing with bubbles and directing afternoon traffic (barking out of the window) lol. Both of them are super friendly and never meets a stranger.

Safety: To protect the well-being of your fur babies as well as others, your pups must be up to date on the following:

-Vaccinations

-Heartworm and flea preventative
