Pet care experience
ALMOST Home
For almost 6 years I had the privilege of calling myself mom to a wonderful, beautiful Shepherd mix who sadly, I lost to a brief illness (fall 2014). While I know my sweet boy can never be replaced in my heart, animals have the amazing power to help heal and are always a bright spot in the day. If I can bring some happiness to yours by providing a safe and loving temporary home while you're away, then it is a win win for you, me and your pet. For several years I also worked with an animal rescue organization as a foster parent and have had several amazing pups call my house home before finding their forever families. I love all animals but have a heart for those who might be feeling a little sad (like when mom/dad leave) and need some extra TLC. My back yard is large and fenced and I have a great walking trail just outside the front door, as well as several nice areas close by where I frequently walk dogs. I believed, as you might, that no one could every care for my baby like I did but, should you leave yours with me, I assure you I'll be a close second.

Ratings and reviews
Barrie goes above & beyond for our Sven. I’m so grateful to have found her!

The best ever! Treats our bubba like her own.

I had a wonderful experience with Barrie. Taking care of two dogs isn’t always easy, but everything went very smoothly. Communication was clear and prompt, and I received regular updates and photos, which really put our minds at ease while I was away. It was obvious that my dogs were well cared for and comfortable. I truly appreciate the care and responsibility, and would definitely book again in the future.

Great Experience!

Barrie was exceptional! She took the time to entertain our playful boy with walks & fetch sessions. She kept us updated with videos and pictures. Would highly recommend!!

Barrie was very attentive, caring, & engaging - she loves dogs & it shows. She communicated well with us before & during our boarding, including making sure she understood the health conditions that affect our older dog.

Schedule
My schedule: I work a full time job 8-5 outside of the home, but I am only 10 minutes away and come home at lunch when I have dogs staying so they are not left more than about 4 hours without going out and getting some play time.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
The dogs have free roam inside when I am home. For the most part the same is true when I am gone save for times I feel it necessary to separate dogs or crate one to keep them safe and/or avoid accidents for those who have that tendency. Often that just involves gating off my kitchen so they have a large but separate space. It is rare I feel the need to crate and usually only do so on the owner's advice. Dogs are allowed on the furniture and welcome to sleep with me as well.
A typical day
I have a large back yard where your dog can run and lots of fun toys for he/she to play with, a walking trail right outside my front door, and live a mile from Highland Avenue where I regularly take dogs for long walks. Dogs who are well trained/behaved on a leash preferred. I work full time but come home for lunch to let dogs out and play. They are generally not alone for more than 4 hours at one time. If your dog is used to being kenneled at home when you are away, I will maintain that routine at mine. If your dog has free roam inside, and is not destructive or mischievous, they are free to do the same at my house.
