About: I graduated with honors last year receiving my Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology. I have over 4 years of experience working with Dogs, Cats, Birds, and even some exotic animals in both Emergency Animal Hospitals and General Practice Veterinary Offices. Prior to this I worked in Doggie Daycare in Los Angeles, for 14 years. Taking care of as many as 50 dogs at a time in large boarding facilities. I am a life-long lover of animals, and have personally been the proud parent of Dogs, Cats, Birds, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Hedgehogs and Tropical Fish. I am extremely aware of the needs of animals, including the special needs of senior pets… and love providing safe spaces and happy memories to all. I am currently transitioning out of a full time Registered Veterinary Technician position so that I can focus on pet walking, sitting, and care as a full-time opportunity. I am available morning to night during the week and most weekends. I would be more than happy to get to know your pet whether it is a once in a while drop-in, a regular check-in, or a scheduled daily walk. With over 18 years of pet care experience including 4 in a medical setting, a college degree in Veterinary Technology, and a license from the State of California to practice veterinary technology as a RVT ... “Juan is a doting animal lover who puts cats at ease. I have three cats - all with three different personalities. My shyest cat warmed up to Juan in about 30 minutes. This is a miracle as there are some visitors that she has never warmed up to. Juan's approach was to let my shy cat approach him at her pace. He never forced an interaction with her. During these 30 minutes, my other two cats showed an interest in Juan with my boy cat accepting pets right away. By the end of the 30 minute visit, my shyest cat had emerged from her hiding spot, sniffed Juan's hands, and then retreated to the edge of the room to watch my other two cats be pet by him. By Juan's second visit, even my shyest cat was jumping up on the couch to be near Juan. For anyone with an apprehensive cat, you understand how huge of a deal it is for them to feel safe enough to come out and show their true personality. I highly recommend Juan to care for your fur babies as if they were his own!”

I enjoyed it so much that I’ve taken on multiple clients as a dog walker and sitter since then, mostly met spontaneously while out on walks. I work from home and and have a flexible schedule. I'm at home most of the time, working on my laptop. I have a few regular clients I do drop-ins for in the mornings and evenings, and of course I take my dog and whoever is staying with me for at least one walk every day. This is often my main form of daily exercise, so I cherish these walks. Safety is my top priority, but I also strive to provide an enjoyable and stress-free experience for your pet. I love connecting on an emotional level to animals through play, pets, and snuggling, making sure to read their body language closely and always respecting their boundaries. When your pet stays with me, they can expect a quiet, calm, private area with blankets, toys, water, and a crate available to them if they want it. Meals will be served exactly according to your specifications, and in general I will do my best to minimize any changes to your pet's normal routine and environment. They will of course be more than welcome to hang out with me and my dog in the main living room area as well. I'm also experienced in house sitting and have no problem doing tasks such as moving garbage bins, taking in mail and newspapers, and more. I ask that all clients type up a simple cheat sheet listing the pet’s feeding/walk/potty schedule, notes on the pet’s needs and personality, and any notes or requests regarding caring for the home if the job includes house sitting.
