“I had something come up last minute and Alexandra was so sweet, responsive and accommodating. So nice and easy to work with and Moose seemed comfortable with short notice set up!!”

“I can’t thank Meagan enough for taking care of my Joey today. It was me and my fur babies first dog sitting experience with Rover. Meagan made him feel welcome the minute we walked in the door, reached out and provided updates with pictures during the day, along with helping Joey socialize with dogs in her home. I look forward to rebooking with her the future. thank you so much! Kathy”

“Kimberlee is AWESOME!! Her and her son gave my pup all the lovins all day and she gave me updates throughout the day! She is very attentive and has a huge passion/love for dogs. I highly recommend her!!!”

“Angela did a fantastic job with our Wally! She was flexible in sitting longer hours when needed and was very easy to work with. Her dog Ava loved Wally and it helped out so much to get our puppy some socialization with other dogs. I’d recommend her to anyone needing someone to watch their dog(s).”

About: I have personally had a pet or 3 since I was 13 years old. I begged for a cat for years and once I got one, I never have been without at least one pet. I have been volunteering with the ARL since 2005. I have had 30+ foster dogs through them as well. I just love animals. I do have weekends blocked but just ask about availability! I am retired. I enjoy going for walks with dogs and depending on the dog spending time outside in my fenced in backyard. I have a 6 foot fence. Your dog will have the ability to be part of our family and our family pets are on our furniture. We do separate our home animals, fosters and house guests at night. The "regulars" get to sleep in our beds while our guests get other accommodations. It makes for better harmony for us. Because we foster on a regular basis our animals are very used to different dogs coming into our home. Our home is pretty quiet and relaxing.
“What a wonderful daycare for our 11 month old, high energy black lab. Mackenzie had to deal with a lot from our Eddie, and she handled him so well. Her other dogs are such a delight, fun and happy!”

About: My experience in the dog industry goes beyond just boarding or sitting. I have the knowledge, skills, and experience training dogs of all ages and breeds, including service dogs. I currently work part time teaching group classes, leaving quite a bit of my time available to do other things involving dogs. In addition to a safe and friendly place to stay, your dog will get daily enrichment activities and, if needed, house manners training (go to place, leave it, keeping all 4 paws on the floor, going in/out of doorways). I work part-time training group classes, which allows me to have the time needed to care for the dogs staying with me. I'm available for boarding during the week, weekends, most holidays, single overnights and extended stays. My availability for day time sitting can vary but my calendar will always be updated with those times. All interactions between dogs are supervised to ensure those interactions are a positive experience and a safe experience. I don't have a fenced in yard so each time going outside is on leash, so leash manners will be worked on. I have crates and exercise pens for dogs who get crated at night. During meal times dogs are separated from each other as a precaution to prevent resource guarding. I do have a "gated community" inside my house to prevent mischief in the kitchen or going upstairs to bedrooms.
“Meghann was so responsive when we reached out somewhat last-minute and communicated seamlessly while providing care for Monte. Would absolutely recommend Meghann and we’ll be using her again!”

“Hazel looked like she had a great time and passed out immediately after she got home! Your updated with pictures and videos of their day. And the pick up/drop off is a life saver. 10/10 recommend Tanya for daycare for your pup, the service did not disappoint! :)”

“This was our first Rover booking for a day of daycare. Our sheepadoodle was pretty anxious when we arrived. Scott did a good job of putting her at ease. His dog Brinley is gentle and did her part in making our dog less nervous too. It wasn’t long after we left that we got a video of her playing with 3 other dogs. That was very reassuring. We chose Scott because we liked that he and Jess were full time dedicated to the care of dogs. We liked that there would be other dogs there because we felt being busy with playmates would be a positive. It’s clear that Scott is serious about providing great care to dogs and it appears he has earned many loyal customers. I don’t think anyone should have any qualms about giving them a try! I am glad we did!”

“My puppy enjoys his stay with the sitter ❤️ Very caring and reliable sitter. Harsha was comfortable and well taken care of, and communication was clear throughout. I really appreciated the flexibility and attention to his routine. Would happily be my go to sitter for Harsha.”

“Jen and her family are amazing and I think our pup Nila would go to their house to visit every day if she could. Nila initially had some anxiety from some bad past experiences when Jen first started watching her, and Jen was incredible at helping her feel safe and gain confidence back. And her own dog Mia does such a good job of respecting Nila’s boundaries but also encouraging her to play and get out of her comfort zone. Jen treats every dog with so much love and care as if it was her own, and goes above and beyond any expectations we had.”

“Taitum was so accommodating to my schedules and my pup seemed to have so much fun. Even though his stay was for just a few hours, she was so communicative and sent pictures!!”

“Corkie loved her doggy day care time playing with Bailey and Iggy in their big backyard! This was her first time away from home and it went so well! Will definitely have Sherilynn watch her again!”

About: Hello! My name is Rachael and I live in Windsor Heights! I’m happy to help take care of your fur babies! I currently own two rescue dogs and a cat (Baloo Galaxy and Amelia)! I’m happy to help with your dog walking and dog boarding needs as I am able! I enjoy running and walking and love exploring new parks. I have a fenced in yard. I currently work from home and my schedule is very flexible! I was raised with dogs and got my own dog after I graduated college in 2009. My second dog was a foster that I found in 2015. Both typically get along well with other dogs after a meet and greet. I look forward to talking to you soon!
“Melanie and family were so friendly that my dogs—a 4- and a 12- year-old Havanese—relaxed immediately. Melanie met us in the yard and the dogs trotted away with her without looking back. The dogs were with her for 6 hours and she sent multiple photos and status updates. We would definitely ask Melanie to watch our dogs again!”

I've used Kaylie a couple of times. My puppy always comes home happy and well taken care of! In fact, my puppy seems more interested in staying to play than coming home with me, which tells me he enjoyed his time with Kaylie. Kaylie is really responsible, and I feel like I'm leaving my pup in good hands with her. I will continue to book with her as I can.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Johnston commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
