“This was our first time leaving our cat for an extended period of time at home, and all of our worries disappeared when we met Ashley! She took great care of our clingy kitty and we’ll definitely be booking again.”

“Morgan was great! I appreciated the pictures and communication while I was away. She gave me peace of mind and took wonderful care of my animals! I’ll definitely rebook with her in the future.”

“Monica was absolutely amazing! She sent so many great pictures of the dogs, so we knew they were good. She did so well with them, and our dogs are not exactly well trained. This was our first time, but I'm sure won't be our last. Would 100% recommend her to anyone!”

“Emily was absolutely wonderful with my dogs! She was reliable, communicative, and gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She kept me updated with photos and messages, and it was clear my pups were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I could tell she genuinely loves animals and treated them like her own. I came home to happy dogs and a stress-free experience. I would highly recommend Emily to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter!”

“Sara did a great job of checking our cats while we were gone and worked with what seemed to be an ever-changing schedule at the end. We look forward to having her come back and check on our cats again in the future!”

“Lisa, was great with my three cats. I have a almost 15 yr old male cat that has been very skittish all his life. Most pet sitters have never even gotten him out to eat his can food but Lisa not only got him out to eat but also got his medicine on his ears that he has to have twice a day every day for hypothyroidism. Knowing that he was taken care while my husband and I were out of town attending our daughters wedding was a hugh blessing. Thanks again Lisa.”

“Kassy is very gentle and quickly developed a good rapport with our anxious rescue, Rio. She’s easy to work with and very flexible. We’re grateful for her.”

“We just returned from a 2 week trip, and Cory provided care for our 5 cats. He did a fabulous job! 3 of the cats were elusive, but the other 2 warmed up to him. He saw to all of their needs, and also fed the birds and squirrels for us. He did all we asked of him, and I was confident that they were in good hands. I highly recommend Cory, and will reach out to him for future needs. Thank you, Cory for the great job.”

“Rachel did a great job taking care of Remy and spoiling him while we were away. Our pup is very timid and he did great with her. She also hauled in quite a few packages that arrived earlier than expected before they could get soaked with snow!”

“Kendra is so wonderful! She noticed that my cat was out of food and gave him more for me. And my dog really emits her visits too! We’ll be requesting her services again, I highly recommended her if you need any help with your fur babies!! and... She is always right on time”
“Austin is our go-to! He takes great care of our two cats and is super willing to adjust to their needs/wants to minimize stress and keep them as happy as they can be until we return home.”

“Nerja was fantastic with my two cats! She gave them all the loves, and care. She gave them their medications and sent me so many pictures while I was on vacation. I loved seeing pictures of my babies while I’m gone. She was also great with our shy cat. 100% recommend her!”

About: I’ve grown up on a farm loving animals. I currently have two dogs myself and just love the opportunity to make a pet’s day part of my day. I do work a full time job currently but have plenty of time in the evening to drop in on your pet. Eventually, I’m hoping to make this more of a full time schedule. I can easily crate your dog if needed. I’m happy to let them out, take them for walks, spend time for snuggles or play and even feed them a meal if necessary.
“Troy has been nothing but amazing, not only with our dog but with everything he does! Our pup is a bit people selective and moose was comfortable in no time due to Troy being patient and knowledgeable about how to handle a more reactive dog. My husband and I would 100% recommend him to take care of your furry friend too! He is always on time and makes sure he leaves the house cleaner then when he got there!”

About: I grew up as a farm girl and worked hard! I've always been around farm animals and our dogs and cats as long as I can remember. I took care of family and neighbor pets and did so also in my adult life. right Right now I'm working a couple of part time jobs. I would be available over most weekends. Once and a while over a 5 day period. I can do drop in check ups and potty breaks in middle of day and after 6 evenings. ok I would mainly be doing the sitting in the clients home as well as just stopping in for just potty breaks and well check-ups. Once in awhile I could do care in my townhome for small pets over the weekend.
“Sarah we great and the girls loved her! My dog Gizzy has special needs (deaf and blind). She requires eye drops multiple times a day. Sarah did a wonderful job ensuring Gizzy received all the medications she needed. She did a great job with my other dog Meeko also. Meeko is a rescue and had some unpleasant experiences in her past. Sarah was great with her, knew just how to help Meeko learn to trust her and they became friends quickly. I would recommend Sarah for all you pets care and needs. Jenny D.”

“Emily was thorough and attentive while watching our two cats for the weekend. She checked in with us and sent photos for each visit, and even accommodated some specific medication needs for our older cat, Sweet Pea. We loved the attention she gave and felt very comfortable leaving our pets in her hands. We will definitely be reaching back out to her for future travel needs!”

“Ezequiel did drop in visits for my two dogs while I was away for a few days. He has great communication. He was very punctual. He was willing to accommodate my dog who is quite skittish, using my special leash and gate set ups to ensure she did not escape. My Corgi enjoyed him right away. Ezequiel did a great job feeding my dogs who have sensitives, allergies, and not the easiest feeding routine. He offered to wipe the dogs off when they came inside as it was raining nearly the entire time. Would recommend!”

Allyson did an excellent job looking after my cat, Apollo! She visited on short notice to meet him beforehand and ask questions. She visited often and was very communicative, providing updates and photos throughout the duration. Even through the snowstorm she did her best to get here and make sure he was well taken care of! I would definitely recommend her!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Johnston. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
