“Julie spent the weekend with our two Great Pyrenees mixes and was wonderful. He came for a meet & greet prior to our trip and the girls really liked her. Julie was great at communicating before and during the trip, ensuring we were well informed while away. From the photos she shared, it looks like our girls didn’t miss us and loved their time with her. We will definitely utilize her services again.”

“Always great to have Matthew watching our three dogs. He is in unfailingly reliable and attentive and they could not be in better hands. In addition, while watching the house he detected and saved us from a potentially disastrous water leak. Just great knowing Matthew is on the job.”
“Lauren was great! We felt comfortable and at ease having her stay in our home with Molly and Bear. She sent us pictures and videos of them running and playing in the back yard. We look forward to calling on her the next time we take a trip.”

“Kellie did great with my older dog Lolly (who is a fur factory) and our little Watson (who needs / wants to snuggle all the time). Thanks Kellie for taking such good care of the dogs.”

“We recently had the pleasure of having Sam watch our two dogs for nearly an entire week, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the care and attention he provided. Sam went above and beyond, even rearranging his work schedule to make sure our dogs were well looked after. He maintained their regimented routine, preparing their unique meals twice a day and taking them out for potty breaks and exercise an additional 3-4 times per day. His conscientiousness really showed in everything he did. Sam stayed overnight in our home, ensuring our dogs felt safe, secure, and comfortable in our absence. His communication was excellent—he sent us multiple photo updates throughout each day, which gave us such peace of mind. It was clear from the photos (and when we returned!) that our dogs were happy, calm, and well cared for. Honestly, I don’t think they even realized we were gone! Sam is incredible with animals, and it’s obvious he has a natural connection with dogs. He’s also friendly, respectful, and trustworthy. Knowing he was there allowed us to enjoy a much-needed vacation without any worry. We’re already planning to book Sam again for our next trip! If you’re looking for someone dependable, kind, and dedicated to caring for your pets as if they were his own, we can’t recommend Sam highly enough. Thank you again, Sam!”

“Cole was dependable, wonderful, consistent, and communicative throughout our 10 day vacation. We will certainly be re-booking when the time comes. Highly recommend!!!”

“Wonderful! Very attentive to my poodles. Helped to address a food issue when one of mine went on a hunger strike. Very respectful of my home. She stayed for 3 days and 2 nites. Great communication! Love her!!”

“Denise was so kind to our dogs we have a special needs dog and she was wonderful with him she stayed the entire time and even took them on a hike and to the mall. Excellent care of our home and our pets!!! I would highly recommend!!! She even charmed our cat who hates everyone!!! We came home to a clean home and happy babies !!!”

“Damien did an amazing job at caring for my dogs. They warmed up to him very quickly loved being around him. He was also very respectful of the house and very clean. I will be booking him again. I highly recommend Damien to anyone needing a good sitter.”

“Emily was so generous to make sure that bubba was taken care of the entire time we were gone! He was exhausted from all the play time he received, which made us happy to know he was treated properly!”
“We had a fantastic experience with Lindsey. She was reliable, on time for the visits, friendly and great at keeping us updated and sending pics of our babies. Will definitely book with her again in the future!”

“Georgia was fantastic! She was available on short notice and took amazing care of our dog, Milo. Our dog is an anxious rescue, but she is a dog whisperer and immediately put our boy at ease and he was even wanting to sleep with her night one and showing his belly which he doesn’t do unless he’s 100% comfortable. I apologized for running low on his supplies and for him being a little stinky since his bath was delayed and she didn’t even hesitate to offer to go grab what he needed and even offered to bathe him. On top of taking great care of him, she took care of us anxious dog parents and communicated every step of the way and gave lots of updates and pictures. I couldn’t recommend her enough. Will definitely be using her in the future.”

“Dora is wonderful and very loving to our furry babies!! I don’t worry about anything when we are out of town and our girls just love her!! We will be booking with Dora again and again!”

“Zoe did a great job with our dogs. She sent daily updates and it looked like the dogs really liked hanging out with her. The house was left in order. We’d book with her again.”

About: I have been taking care of my neighbors' pets for almost 10 years. I have a cat and dog at home who are 13 and 11 years old, and I have helped take care of them since we got them at 6 months and 8 months old. I am a student I'm university, and while I am home for summer and winter breaks I am able to spend as much time as you need me to with your animals. I was a volunteer at the Animal Defense League shelter, and I specifically helped to socialize aggressive or antisocial dogs. I know that every dog is different, and each will need different things in order to be comfortable, and I will make sure that they are content while I am there.

About: I've grown up always having pets, experience taking care of three dogs in the house, watching family friends pets during vacations and experience taking care of small animals such as hamsters and guinea pigs. I'm currently a full time student in between semesters. My schedule is very free and flexible, I am available for at home visits and dog walking any time besides Mondays and Wednesdays after 7:30pm. I am very thorough and detailed when it comes to following care instructions and guidelines set to properly look after your pet and your home.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hill Country Village
Denise was fantastic! Her communication was excellent from start to finish, and she kept us updated with messages and photos throughout our trip. When we got home, it was obvious that Chevy had been well loved and well cared for. Knowing he was in such good hands gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. We would absolutely book with Denise again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter!

Braydon is the first non-family member to ever stay with our (10yo) dogs. He was attentive, communicative, and took great care of them while we were on a long trip. We came home to two happy pups and it was great not having to worry about them while we were gone. Would definitely recommend!

Kadence was amazing! I was nervous due to the length and time difference of my trip, but Kadence was so great! My cats are happy and relaxed, my apartment tidy, and she was responsive to any messages I sent. I am very happy with the level of care she showed my pets and my place 😊

Emelie was absolutely amazing! She took incredible care of Tito and kept me updated with adorable pictures of him having the best time and sleeping comfortably. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was happy, safe, and truly loved. I couldn’t recommend her enough—10/10, hands down!

Emily was everything we hoped for. This was our first occasion using Rover or having a stranger in our house while we were on vacation. I was very pleased with Emily, her care for our home and our pets exceeded expectations. Her daily communication left us feeling confident that our little ones and our house were protected and cared for. We will definitely call her again. Thanks Emily.
One word to describe Pauline is Fabulous!!! She has a ton of experience and knowledge when it comes to dogs. My older dog now needs insulin twice a day and Pauline was up to the task. She house sat the dogs and did everything we ask of her. our dogs weren't exactly friendly but she managed them so well that she had them walking the neighborhood, a first for us!! Pauline has a very nice outgoing personality that makes it super easy to communicate with her and is the nicest person you'll ever meet. We were blown away by just how good she really was, we will never use anyone else!!!!!!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hill Country Village walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hill Country Village maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hill Country Village choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
